I think it makes sense to give the price in Ringgit, since that doesn't change from day to day. The price in dollars, by contrast, DOES change day to day. Also, historically the vast majority of foreigners pursuing Malaysian residence (e.g., via the MM2H) are from countries that don't use the US dollar.

Just a thought before you even consider to move to Malaysia. What our government want, doesn't really reflect what the local people want. We dont want israeli, mainland china and north korean. Those were proven to be troublemakers. No matter how rich you are, we never needed your money. We dont want anyone with criminal records back in your home country. We want you to respect our official religion - Islam, the local people, and the local culture. I want to move to Malaysia! But I am a single and concern that I would be stack at my apartment all day long! I already moved from Canada to Mexico and what I discover is 90% of non working expats are only interested in eating, drinking and hardly doing anything! So I basically always along except when I am spending time at a dance studio with my classmates who are 20-30 younger (lovely friendly people but different stages in life) I wish to meet friends who would be interested to make that next step in to Asian paradise.
You can make a youtube channel about your journey throughout Malaysia. Don't just stay at one place. Every states have their own uniqueness. Malaysian love to know what foreigners think about Malaysia. And who knows, maybe your channel can be a 'guide' for other foreigners. It just that.. Don't focus to much on foods. Make yourself different. There are so many things to do in Malaysia other than eating.

Join a social "club" in Malaysia, like Andrew did (see his new video about Malaysia this week). These are general social clubs that cost about 20K to join plus nominal annual dues, that are broad in scope with many activities, jaunts, events, etc in addition to the pool-gym-club facilities itself. I've had amazing day trips, adventures, and outings via the club. Members tend to be well-off and they're middle aged to senior. You'll find some activities and people you like there for sure in time. And memories you won't forget, like a group invite to a member's castle retreat up in the mountains, trip to the highlands with an esteemed lecturer, tour of one guy's factory plus many treats, groups taken out on members' super-yachts, etc (we went out on someone's 400-foot yacht that probably costs over $300M, which he had fully catered for us with a first-class spread by a first-class restaurant, as his "guests". Etc-etc.

But I've been a tourist in dozens of places which I wouldn't recommend at all so, whatever its drawbacks, I'd still recommend Malaysia based on what I know and what I've seen of it. Fluctuating incomes are discouraged. Particularly if they ae close to the qualifying level. Obviously the Committee make look at rental income of US$250K/year and just chop you financially competent. But if you are near the RM10K/month level then the may want additional proofs of support. After all, what if you lose a tenant? Or for dividends, the market drops? Some individuals have created a fictiticious corporation and pay themselves a salary from that.

I live in Malaysia. Just understand what they say and what they do are usually totally different. I've been married to a Malaysian for 11 years and still can't get pr. No reason. Immigration here is a nightmare. Just go to Cambodia, it's way easier. You can also buy really cheap condos there too.

They're expensive and usually staffed by graduates with little to no experience or those westerners just spending a year or 2 in Msia and so don't really care about their students. Cambodia also has cheaper housing, lower taxes and the easiest open visa system in SE Asia. I wouldn't recommend Malaysia to any westerner. At all.

For the SMM2H, what if you're a couple without any children yet? Is the requirement that, if we have children they must go to school in Sarawak? Or that we MUST have children AND they must go to school in Sarawak.
Supposed to be announced this month. The provisional requirements are similar to Sarawak (i.e. they don't want to drive away people) but still some questions about whether property purchase or rental would be mandatory or optional. Age level differences, etc.
I've heard there's a residency program for Korea (I think) but for Japan? Phhhhhht, if there is a PR program in Japan, you're gonna need a lot of money, run a business with employees and revenue plua have a good immigration lawyer. Japan work/Res visa can be a challenge and the government can be very picky.

You are close for the S-MM2H. For a single the pension income minimum is US$1555. The Fixed Deposit, which must be deposited in a bank in Sarawak (though it can be an international bank like OCBC or HSBC) is US33,333. So you'd have about US$157,000 is savings. An agent might be able to demonstrate or suggest a way to show that you could easily live on that amount through the term of the visa. You may not be able to reside in Peninsula Malaysia as the Federal government now looks down upon people residing Full Time there. But you can visit as much and as long as you wish. KL is pretty expensive actually, Sarawak is much cheaper, less crime and more laid back. Not a lot of "night life" except for festivals and firework shows. Nothing at all like Bangkok. Golf, beaches, hiking, kayaking, scuba, etc. in Borneo. Don't worry about the language requirement...most people speak English although they'll respect you immensely if you speak some Malay or a local language. Over 50 is allowed to do some types of PT work.

Always. That doesn't mean you have to be in perfect health. Just ambulatory enough to be able to travel for treatment... They are mainly looking for evidence of narcotic and other drug residues and/or still infectious sexually transmitted disease (including Hepatitis). Another potential issue is Tuberculosis (i.e. chest X-Ray), although it is not a game changer if it is under treatment.
Age 50 and above must meet the basic set of requirements ...proof of sufficient off-shore income AND establishing a Fixed Deposit. Those 30-50 have to meet additional requirements (e.g. purchasing a residential property or enrolling a child in a Sarawak school). Those over 50 also are allowed to work PT in certain areas, and/or to invest as a sleeping partner (49%) in a (51% or more) Sarawak-based business. Those over 60 are generally waived from having health insurance. Everyone must also do a health check in Sarawak, purchase cheap health insurance, have a police background check, and either a local sponsor or agent.
The fees are for the Premium and Elite Program...Sarawak MM2H has no fee other than the RM500/year visa fee. The Fixed Deposit goes into your own account in a Sarawak branch of a Malaysian licensed bank....such as OCBC, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Bank of China, etc.

Physicians do house calls!!! A well developed Medical Tourism business with Indonesia as physicians have UK/US.Australian credentials. Five different private speciality hospitals. There have been some expats that opt to die in this beautiful land. Some have Catholic or Anglican services, others cremated in a Buddhist fashion. As well, up to 40% of the Fixed Deposit can be used as reimbursement for Medical costs.
Malaysia is ONLY for the rich. The Malaysian gov’t has raised the required financial obligations to stay and retire, very, very high. Malaysia is a total no-go for the average retiree. Look elsewhere.

I see in this channel they always recommend these daily living things and the high quality of life in Malaysia.
@@moslama Cambodia has international schools also, and tbh the schools in Malaysia aren't anything amazing. They're expensive and usually staffed by graduates with little to no experience or those westerners just spending a year or 2 in Msia and so don't really care about their students. Cambodia also has cheaper housing, lower taxes and the easiest open visa system in SE Asia. I wouldn't recommend Malaysia to any westerner. At all.

I've heard there's a residency program for Korea (I think) but for Japan? Phhhhhht, if there is a PR program in Japan, you're gonna need a lot of money, run a business with employees and revenue plua have a good immigration lawyer. Japan work/Res visa can be a challenge and the government can be very picky.

The requirements are pretty high but not unreasonable. The premium is only for the elite and most make comments don’t have 40,000 ringgit monthly income.

You are close for the S-MM2H. For a single the pension income minimum is US$1555. The Fixed Deposit, which must be deposited in a bank in Sarawak (though it can be an international bank like OCBC or HSBC) is US33,333. So you'd have about US$157,000 is savings. An agent might be able to demonstrate or suggest a way to show that you could easily live on that amount through the term of the visa. You may not be able to reside in Peninsula Malaysia as the Federal government now looks down upon people residing Full Time there. But you can visit as much and as long as you wish. KL is pretty expensive actually, Sarawak is much cheaper, less crime and more laid back. Not a lot of "night life" except for festivals and firework shows. Nothing at all like Bangkok. Golf, beaches, hiking, kayaking, scuba, etc. in Borneo.
Don't worry about the language requirement...most people speak English although they'll respect you immensely if you speak some Malay or a local language.

Those over 50 also are allowed to work PT in certain areas, and/or to invest as a sleeping partner (49%) in a (51% or more) Sarawak-based business. Those over 60 are generally waived from having health insurance.
Everyone must also do a health check in Sarawak, purchase cheap health insurance, have a police background check, and either a local sponsor or agent.

The fees are for the Premium and Elite Program...Sarawak MM2H has no fee other than the RM500/year visa fee. The Fixed Deposit goes into your own account in a Sarawak branch of a Malaysian licensed bank....such as OCBC, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Bank of China, etc.

They have very good health services though those over 60 cannot usually find full service insurance. They purchase Health Care over the counter...usually receiving immediate or next-day treatment. Physicians do house calls!!! A well developed Medical Tourism business with Indonesia as physicians have UK/US.Australian credentials. Five different private speciality hospitals. There have been some expats that opt to die in this beautiful land. Some have Catholic or Anglican services, others cremated in a Buddhist fashion. As well, up to 40% of the Fixed Deposit can be used as reimbursement for Medical costs.
