I have this exact same setup. I'm actually going to keep mine. Overall I love the bag, the only thing i really dislike other than the price are the water bottle pockets. Without ventilation holes if youre caught in any significant amount or rain water will build up in those pockets. Other than that this is my EDC bag, I use it as a gym, travel and work bag.
Hey klint. I have the same black griffin CPL24. Best bag ever IMO. Have you ever cleaned yours? Rewaxed it at all? Any maintenance tips would be greatly appreciated. TIA
You're not gonna love this answer, but it doesn't exist. I had it custom-made. If you go on Etsy or Amazon, you could find quite a few sellers who will take any image that you have and turned it into a patch.
@@ThePerfectBag I find its better than Rush series actually... Rush 12 is cool but too small for me... N Rush 24 is too large .. why can't 5.11 do a 30 or 32L? Lol! But yea ... The Helikontex Ratel is good! It's Deceptively huge for 25L to become 33L
This may sound weird, but here are my thoughts. In the original fabric, I prefer the CTB26 over the CPL24. In the Griffin version, Griffin 1 > Griffin 2.
Actually the price for the CTB tan griffin 2 is $425, last I checked anyway. But agreed, still too high imho. Was surprised to see you with a black griffin CPL 1. What happened to your olive one? Still have that one?
I ended up selling the olive one and re-purchasing the black and the black one is the keeper after having owned all four versions of the bag. Just a really great bag.
What is the largest sling bag you can buy? I am talking like 50 liters or so. Go ahead and laugh. Just looking for the largest sling bag out there. Thanks.
That is an interesting question. The largest sling bag that I've personally ever owned was made by LA police gear, and it didn't even come close to 50 L. Any reason why you want a sling that large as opposed to a backpack?
@@firstlineofsurvival5318 My brother in Christ, you want the 'Dsptch Slingpack RND Edition'. No sling bag comes even close and you can easily pack it to double its capacity.
I really do not understand how this community can go nuts over a single thing like the waterbottle pockets because "muh asesthetics". It's an expedition/do anything bag. Not an EDC bag at almost 2kg. If you want something EDC go buy a glorified plastic grocery (dyneema) bag and call it a day. If I take this on a long walk, I want 2 water bottle pockets for my 2x SilverAnt Titanium 800mL bottles. If it was an EDC bag it wouldn't be 26L and they wouldn't have made a release video with 2 guys on their dirt bikes ripping through West USA. As for the price, the Griffin/Phoenix bags have always cost the earth but they are made to last longer than we are. You got my thumbs down bro when you said you think you'll lose money on it. Now c'mon, we all know these bags go for 2-3x the price after they sell out... The CPL24 Griffin 1 is still going for $1500 bucks! on eBay years later used when people decide to sell it and it doesn't last 5 minutes before nabbed by someone. You could buy one of these, use it for a whole year and sell it for 2x what you bought it because of what it is, or 3x if left in a cupboard/original packaging. You're a bag guy so stop the cap, you probably always intended to flip it for 2x the price after it sells out (and I don't balme you, but don't treat us like we were born yesterday)... Evergood's whole model is they spend $$$$ on R&D, make a limited run of bags and what works they use more common materials with. It's literally in how they make money, making limited products like this so the price imo isn't something to faun over. There's a good reason why it's $500.
I appreciate you sharing. One note, I do think we are past the point where these bags are going to hold their value. I think we reached a tipping point and they've started ramping up production and we're going to see less of an aftermarket except for the rare case of the very limited edition bags.
@@ThePerfectBag Hey great to hear from you. Sure you probably know more than me. My point was that Evergoods is a company that has explicitly gambled their business model on investing in R&D and materials no one else has. Look at their new Element Drop-in pouch for example. It cost them a fortune in new equipment and materials to make, but it has sold extremely poorly. As such their business model prices all their items high enough to offset the costs and losses from R&D on other products. The materials of the Griffin series are also very unique, eg. the canvas from Halley Stevensons, which come with their own attached extra costs. I do agree though that we are pushing crazy limits now on prices, but I think we've all learned there is always someone like you and I who will buy it. That said, Evergoods do't make junk and all their stuff comes with a lifetime warranty. I just think that you can't really throw the "EDC" term around with all their products and focus too much on the price because there's hardly any other brands that compete with Evergoods in these areas. At least no one else is doing R&D like they are.

The new Griffins didn’t sing to me either. But the Alchemy is exactly what I wanted. Thank you for helping me get one, Klint.
I wish the water bottle pocket was the same as their original bag.
Prefer stretchy mesh and bottom hole cutouts
Yeah the $500 is hard to justify. I have a CTB26 already. I went with the cbb22 though and love it. It works for my daily work needs

You know what, I've honestly never rewaxed my canvas bags. Maybe I should learn that!
But honestly I don't think the griffin series will need re-waxing....like ever
Besides the crazy price, the CTB26 griffin 2 weighs 4.3 lbs before you even start to pack it. At that weight, it's not the best travel bag imho.
"yeesh, what am I doing" got a good chuckle out of me
I think I could maybe have bought a Porsche instead of bags…..but I don’t want to think about it right now :)
But in all seriousness, prices are getting out of control.
@@ThePerfectBag agreed - the bag looks really cool, but these prices feel like they're only for folks with a lot of disposable income
What did you use for the zipper pulls on the Olive Griffin? I am struggling to find boot laces that fit well as zipper pulls? What brand is that?
I used paracord
@@ThePerfectBagthanks!
Where did you found this amazing Haddock patch? I want the same ❤

Price of the griffin 2?
Depends which model you bought and which color. This one cost 500.
@@ThePerfectBag sorry meant to say how much are you selling yours for the ctb26
Oh!!!! I’ll sell it on ThePerfectBag.us for just about what I bought it for, probably a few dollars less.
