Facts its like HOF WR Michael Irvin had to call out his son now a rapper Tut Tarantino (or claims to be), talking about street life and his dad stated - "Yo, you was born and raised in a gated community, you went to the top private schools in the world, what you know about the streets"
This makes me think of a quote from The Fresh Prince, its wisdom: "Sometimes we work so hard to give our kids what we didn't have, we forget to give them what we did have."
That's very true, (I love that quote from that episode, by the way 💪🏽) But there's also gotta be real discernment between what to use or dump of stuff you did have, and what to use or dump of stuff you didn't have.
The problem is that these kids try to rap about the same things that their father rapped about but hip hop at its core is about rapping about what you know (even though there are a lot of actors in hip hop) if they smart they'd rap about other things than street stuff. They could go the same route as A Tribe Called Quest, but that might be too high of bar for them....
King Harris really should've taken several notes from how his father carries himself. Tip's massive sense of cool, style and old soul vibration is why people choose to remember him more for how he talked a suicidal man down from the ledge of a building in 2010 and less for that absolutely bizarre and disturbing story about how he forced his daughter to regular gynecologist visits to make sure her hymen was still intact so he knew she was still a virgin

My big bro is obsessed with hood culture. It kinda started when he turned 15. At first, he went from being a comic book kid from the suburbs to wanting to buy $200 Jordans almost overnight. As he got older, he put on an accent and started using more slang. He'd buy fake chains and even showed off his fake Gucci belt he got for 20 bucks at a flea market in Florida; I told all his friends that his belt was fake because that's what bros do. Fast forward, he moves to LA and comes to visit, and he gets more hood when you talk to him, but he clearly is just a cosplayer for that life, and my parents will always be there to remind him of that.
Got a nephew who kinda reminds me of your story. Obsessed with tryna be a thug. His uncle introduced him to gangsta music way the hell too young and such, to the point when he was 5 years old and his mother asked him and his siblings where they wanted to go for vacation. This little ninja said he wanted to go to Compton. Not no damn DisneyLand or Yellowstone.....he wanted to go to Compton!!! Fast forward to today, he's been in jail so many times and is presently there. All tatooed up with no job, tryna sling when he is on the streets.....the whole sh'bang. God help him.

The world which is much larger than Hip Hop has a Nepo baby problem! Before Hip Hop existed there were nepo babies in every facet of life and it remains the same.
Not gonna lie, both syre and the next album by jaiden were actually good, it was a vibe, I feel it wasn't critiqued fairly. I felt it was judged as "will smith's son's album", I play ark and build to his songs, cook to them, do art to them, it's kinda nice when you want to escape gangsta rap but don't wanna switch genre's. But I also think that anti-individualism won't let ppl admit they like his songs, same thing that happens between gospel and hip-hop, gospel music uses alot from hip-hop including their artists, and they're too prideful to admit that hip-hop and r&b may not always have the lyrical content you like but the vibe can be there even in a song against your morals and values.
Jaden Smith is the example of what kids become with parents let their kids do whatever they want. Dude literally introduced his own mom to using psych drugs. WTF is that?
cut the crap he's one of the least annoying nepo kids and actually is talented just like his sister everyone hates him because of a stupid old meme and suddenly he's satan himself
Honestly, I don't know why they won't just lean into the Fresh Prince... King Of Zamunda Prince Hakeem shit heavy. Don't feel bad or be made to feel bad because you came from greatness. Most rappers rap about rich shit....who better know about real wealth than the people who grew up around it? It wouldn't feel like your rapping about money you don't have because YOU ACTUALLY DO. You flex that you were born to be King. Born to be something special because it's in your blood. King Colmbs was talking that King shit then he started drifting into Trap/Drill side.
I don’t have an issue with nepo babies as long as they are qualified/talented. Coco jones, Bella and GiGi Hadid are some of my fav nepo babies because they eat on the runway and on a track.
The fact he said "i don't want to be known as that" not concerned with her and how she feel speaks volumes. My dad... same mental complex. ALL ABOUT THEM We don't even speak anymore on my choosing because i was tired of the narcissism. My heart hasn't been the same since 💔😔
Yk I’m glad king combs wants to do this, even if he is a nepo baby he actively tries and wants to carry on a legacy Some don’t try as hard as him outside of Coi
How are they trying hard when their family members get them features and connections within this industry? Putting together some dr Seuss poetry over a drum machine is not hard work, period. However you try to spin it. That's why a lot of these rappers that get rich are a couple IQ points away from being a rr33tttaaardd
that man just admitted he had her 5 months outta the year. the rest of that 7 months, he dont know WHAT that girl went through. theres literally people who grew up with her that back her story. they werent rich like her daddy was.
When it comes to being the child of a celebrity, as soon as you’re in the light for anything that isn’t helping the world people are going to look for any reason to clown you
That’s the entertainment industry in general. Everyone either is related to a guy or knows a guy that gets them through the door, unfortunately. It’s very rare for someone with no connections to succeed.
Us black folk have a reall problem with seeing other successful black people putting there kids on, thats partly how generational wealth works! Which is it; poverty or Nepo baby?🤔
Really good interview and awesome content!! Only thing that needs a corrections is TINY- XSCAPE, is not a former RB Artists she is a CURRENT ONE! She still does music, shows and concerts and never stopped 😊
most of Hollywood are related.. people forget about the folks BEHIND the scenes too.. (producers, accountants, directors, doctors, lawyers, politicians) all their kids go to school together, are neighbors, and are in the same social arenas.. artists always seem to marry a "nobody" within the industry.. but more than not this "nobody" also comes from a Hollywood family.. do yalls research
The fact that Jaden got clowned for being concerned about the state of the country is very disturbing and concerning at the same time. Anyone that acts goofy about things like that will get cut off from me we not kids no more smh.
They may be nepo babies, but hip hop THRIVES itself off of authenticity, when these guys starts rapping about robbing, the struggle, ormurder they instantly get called out. They dont try to seriously rap bc they know they'll be ignored. Only one remotely relevant is Coi Leray and 90% of that is sex appeal. I didn't even know she was Benzino's daughter until a couple months ago, that's how Nepo SHOULD work.
When you try to fill someone else’s already established shoes that sets an artist up for failure when they don’t perform like there mentor. It’s better to fill your own shoes
I honestly have no qualms with black nepo babies. Others have done this for years and generations (see the Fonda, Coppola, Redgrave, Baldwin, Gerber and Barrymore families) building dynasties in the entertainment industry. Ice Cube made an excellent point about this regarding his own son. Now with hip hop, there's a "problem". And let's be real the "nepo baby" who has seen the most success is the one whose parent had the least influence (Zino hadn't been relevant in years and was living at the Red Roof Inn when Coi took off) is Coi because people actually consume her music and her father actually had little to do with her career.
Didn’t watch the video yet but the thumbnail is wild putting coi next to diddy son and stand on business IS CRAZYYYYYYYYYYYY lmaooooooooo coi is actually talented
We don’t have much nepo kids to go by for an experiment on how nepotism really goes into effect except for the same few kids that always get talked about but ohhh just wait till nicki, bey, rih, lil baby, kardashions and so many other prominent ppls kids come up now that’ll be a treat bc its wayyy more ppl to look at that came up under their families that’s put on social media instead of just tv shows it’s gonna be crazy
There's no difference from many musical artists like Whitney Houston Connie Carnie Wilson ( Brian Wilson) Many Actors are nepotism babies as well but you will never know because they worked hard for what they got.

people owe jaden a damn apology. people hate jaden because he simply exist, as somebody who’s been a jaden fan since 2012 i can proudly say, no matter what he did people always found a way to hate him. when he had the suburban skater misfit image when he first settled into making music, people still found their way into telling him he’s trying to be his dad and that he should quit music. he’s always been in his own lane. it’s become a thing recently to hate people like him.
If I were the son of a rich and famous musician/artist, I would only rap about being rich with minimal struggles. I wouldn't even act hard, just mad snobby.
“Nepo” is short for “nepotism,” the word used to describe the favoring of relatives or friends when meting out positions of power. “Nepo baby” is really just a haute way to call someone a spoiled rich kid. The term has no additional value beyond that.
At least Coi is doing her own thing and not mooching of her fathers hype.. You can see in Benzinos eyes that she really hurt him tho with all the "deadbeat dad" talk tho..
Have you seen Coi teeth before she got enough money to get them fixed? Those weren’t the teeth of a rich dad. Nor is her behavior that of someone who doesn’t have daddy issues. Any man that will get online and taught his daughter for haters to go against her says enough
@@lynnpear20I looked it up, and ouch. As someone who has similar chompers and knows plenty of people with teeth that are just as bad, if not worse, let me say those teeth painted a picture. Dang that's crazy when Benzino comin out looking like the good guy for a change.
Fast forward, he moves to LA and comes to visit, and he gets more hood when you talk to him, but he clearly is just a cosplayer for that life, and my parents will always be there to remind him of that.
y u say his belt fake 🤦🏾♂️

Something what
The world which is much larger than Hip Hop has a Nepo baby problem!
We would all be nepo babies if we could be. I hate the ones who pretend they didn't get a leg up. Own it.
Hope for his sake, King Combs isn’t involved in his daddy’s shenanigans.
It's too late 😞

Honestly, I don't know why they won't just lean into the Fresh Prince... King Of Zamunda Prince Hakeem shit heavy. Don't feel bad or be made to feel bad because you came from greatness. Most rappers rap about rich shit....who better know about real wealth than the people who grew up around it? It wouldn't feel like your rapping about money you don't have because YOU ACTUALLY DO.
You flex that you were born to be King. Born to be something special because it's in your blood.

@@Liviasrffthat’s what u heard but we don’t even know the truth
@@lifewittamaniimhm
i feel like theres some truth to both sides. i feel like coi's mother had sumn to do w/ the situation too:
When it comes to being the child of a celebrity, as soon as you’re in the light for anything that isn’t helping the world people are going to look for any reason to clown you
That’s the entertainment industry in general. Everyone either is related to a guy or knows a guy that gets them through the door, unfortunately. It’s very rare for someone with no connections to succeed.
Us black folk have a reall problem with seeing other successful black people putting there kids on, thats partly how generational wealth works!
Which is it; poverty or Nepo baby?🤔
It's their not there
Nothing wrong but let the real talent succeed and not just industry plants...... Give the underdogs a chance and not just the celebrity kids ....
Really good interview and awesome content!! Only thing that needs a corrections is TINY- XSCAPE, is not a former RB Artists she is a CURRENT ONE! She still does music, shows and concerts and never stopped 😊
Talent and having a talented parent are two different things. Spoiled brats, Nat King Cole said " Forgettable Is What You Are " 😂😂
You should also mention Taylor Swift because if you look into her family yeah the only reason she became famous was because of her Dad
Really who's her dad l knew she was always rich but she still can sing and is a good song writer so she still will be famous
Growing up rich doesnt make you nepo baby. Who’s her dad
most of Hollywood are related.. people forget about the folks BEHIND the scenes too..
I feel like most of these people could have been fine and even popular just being mediocre but humble about their beginnings and family
Man I Just Wanna see Big Pun's son Chris Rivers Blow Up 1 Day 😫🔥
Having too much is a true issue, if only we all had it
My problem with these kids is that they be hating they parents knowing damn well they wouldn’t be where they are at in life with out them
Bro they wouldnt even be in this life without them
They may be nepo babies, but hip hop THRIVES itself off of authenticity, when these guys starts rapping about robbing, the struggle, ormurder they instantly get called out.
It’s a shit culture anyway, they need new shoes
10 years later I still get chills from this
This aged well
I honestly have no qualms with black nepo babies.
I feel like coi Leray made benzino more famous, cuz barely anybody know who tf benzino is💀💀💀 coincidentally leray and Eminem made his whole career
Alright my friend, we need to talk. It's "nĕ-pō", not nEE-po. "Heir", is pronounced "Air", not Hair! The H is silent.
Ya'll on him for those pronunciations. 😂😂
@@deefire4836 It's just if youre gonna make a whole video based around the phenomenon of nepo babies it's kind of a requirement to pronounce it correctly 😅 no hate but I see this from youtubers way too often

@Doopface9 Hey man I didn't get to vote on how it was gonna be spelled! I tried tellin' em, I said "Gentleman, I don't think this is a good idea.
