  • Today we have a new Nissan that's fitted with the second generation of the e-POWER drivetrain. The new Nissan Note e-POWER looks like a mashup of JDM's greatest hits, but at the end of the day, it is still a sensible daily driver. Should you consider this over its other Japanese hatchback rivals? We find out.

    Note e-Power is the bestselling model in Japan car market.

    I test-drove the Nissan Note e-Power in SG. While the comfort and "luxury" at the rear is really not fantastic, it is certainly not as bad as this video puts it to be.. And bearing in mind the price segment it is in, most rear seat comfort is really not that great.
    Instead I'd like to point out that the front seats are VERY comfy, with the touch points on the steering, centre arm rest, and door arm rests being padded very nicely.

    You are in an ePower vehicle and instead of talking about the pros & cons of this technology you spent half the time talking about the harshness & the bumpiness of the ride?? How does the ride compare to other vehicles in this class? ePower is an awesome system where you get all the benefits of an electric car without the associated range anxiety (Not to mention the insane fuel savings which you spent 2 seconds talking about!!).

    • @athelion89
      @athelion89 3 года назад +2

      Well the ride is a key part of ...any car?
      And the review is on the car as specified in the title, so it’s kinda expected that the car itself would be front and center rather than the pros and cons of a hybrid.

    • @cb5110
      @cb5110 3 года назад +4

      @@athelion89 the hybrid is also a import part of the car, he did not say much about it, apart from he wish there was more ev range and the 3 pot engine. All he is on is the torque. The yaris is bumpy and noisy as well, and we know that the yaris cannot go beyond 15 MPH without engine kick in, unless you crawling at 30MPH, but yet asking the e-power has more ev range. We also know the note offer safety system all over, nothing about test safety system, he only show a rear view mirror.

    • @cb5110
      @cb5110 3 года назад +1

      I was lost when he say he wish it have more ev range. under worst case senario the note can go 1.7 miles , the yaris, prius can barely do a mile.

      At what speed did you go over a hump to be bumpy? Any car would be bumpy if you drive over a hump at 5km/hr I would most certainly slow down a lot because the car is light.

    Honestly, came to check the review because I drove a rental one of these and seriously will think about making it my first car. Pick up/Torq was decent, better than a petrol engine of similar rentals. I spent like 1200 yen on petrol for 2 days going around an island in Japan. About 10 USD. Mostly it was on E-power hardly using any petrol. I bascially wanted to know what it is like on the highway and what the economy is like on long journeys at higher speeds.

  • @christopherlaw9184
    @christopherlaw9184 3 года назад +5

    Having a large battery below you can expect the ride to feel a bit harder and bumpy as the suspension must be able to support the added weight. It’s a cost benefit ratio to keep the car price competitive too.
    I sat in a Tesla model S before and the car felt heavy and the ride was very firm too.

    I always share wif ppl who like electric cars the concept of Nissan e-Power and how it works. They don't really quite get it and will say 'oh same as prius lor'... Lol
    I'm impressed with 260nm of torque but this one actually has 280nm, amazing Nissan!
    It will be great if this car has rear double wishbone like Altis and Corolla~~

      @@markmd9 I watched quite a number of videos regarding e-power, remembering 1 showing that when the battery is near empty, the power will be greatly reduced.
      And another showing e kicks e-power facing difficulty to climb the speedo at a certain km/hr.
      Perhaps the torque fun and no 'range anxiety' outweigh the "cons" for potential buyers...

    Test drove the note and jazz back to back. No doubt nissan has a better powertrain, although the jazz is also a good one. I can hear the engine coming on alot more often in the jazz and when the note one does, i struggle to feel it. Note is alot punchier as well and the interior in my eyes look more attractive. Ride quality in the jazz suits only low speeds as it feels undersprung, note is better in this respect. However, the jazz is all equipped from the factory , but the note has been fettled here with locally fitted cheap HU and leather seats, hence inferior in this sense.

    Would have been good to cover the features of the car. E.g. safety features like lane departure warnings etc. There's no cruise control on this I believe? Didn't see that in the official brochure. But damn if they excluded a feature like this.
    Man... if this is the "timeless Japanese futurism" with those bezels on the instrument cluster and that 80s UI, may time stop today so we don't reach this "future".

      маленько заблуждаетесь, питание происходит от двигателя. а батарея служит как резерв накопления энергии, если батарея подсядет. то вы будите ехать больше времени от двигателя, и не чего смертельного не произойдет.
