Alan, I just discovered the channel tonight, great to see you out there! I'm going to send you subs , you got my 2 subs and the Mrs ! Your the most informative guy around! Great to see you on here agin
Thanks guys for subscribing to my channel. I plan to teach everything about fishing, air gun hunting N cooking on my channel. Getting lots of subscribers but I need a lot more to get this rolling. Every week I'm always out in the outdoors doing something so I just bring along my GP camera.
Just found your channel. Great to see you back. You and Warren were my favorites and your worm fishing tips saved me from a bunch of skunks. Look forward to seeing more tips and just Subbed👍
Born n raised here in Sac and been fishing n hunting all my life. Love the outdoors! My goal is to help people get better at all the fishing n hunting opportunities
Hay Alan I knew it’s pretty straight forward how you explained how to dead stick but I have never done it. Would be an awesome video if you showed how you do it.
When I'm mooching I use a ML action rod. Light cranking or trout rods work well. You want a very soft tip rod in 7 to 8 ft long and reel that holds 100 yds of 8# test
I’ve got some poles and reels for trolling trout that will work for this. I have 8lb test that’s the diameter of 10lb test. Do I need to re-spool with true 8lb test? Also, are you tying directly to the main line? Thanks for all the great info.
Nice to see your channel. I have endured my worst winter fishing season in 30 years at Berryessa this year. Hard fishing for low numbers. It never occurred to me that the lake is still stratified. I am at the lake each week and I too noticed all the 40 ft plus marks and no surface activity. I wonder if the heavy rain in Dec and rapid lake level increase caused the stratification to persist longer than usual. Thanks for Salmon tip, The most exciting fish to catch at the lake. Going out now to make sure I have white gitzits in the boat. Most likely a trip to the FW store. dg
Hey Don Berryessa has been weird this year so it's happening to everyone. The lake has not turned over yet as all the bait is 60-80 ft down. Hopefully this north wind will get the lake moving and I think it's going to be a short window this year !Thanks for watching my new channel and please hit the like & subscribe!
Thanks Alan. Can't wait to try this technique on Oroville, maybe at Shasta. I trolled my ass off at Oroville couple years back for just one fish. A nice one tho. About 6 lbs. Look forward to putting a limit in the boat to bring home to my family. My wife is phllipino. She knows how to cook them . Yummy !! Thank you again. !!!
No problem and when those salmon start hanging around the dam that technique will work! Fish have to be pushing bait fish up on the dam or a bluff good luck n keep me posted
Excellent tutorial. Now that the north wind has subsided and most likely the lake has turned over, will you give it a go this week? Thank you, Stephen Mitchell Colonel, Retired
@@lawdogzracer Jeff I was at Berryessa Wednesday and the bait fish are still deep. Looked in narrows and out past Big Island and nothing. Water temp is rising on surface to 54* in afternoon which is not a good sign. I think when it turns the window of opportunities will be short this year.
Hi Alan, Love seeing your video! Question, how heavy were you using them in the ocean for king? Since I am on a kayak, I could slow troll the gitzit. Would love to try it this season. Thanks again for the video!
I heard you talking about that with Sep that is unbelievable wow! I live closer to the Manteca store I hope they have those there as well as those jig heads I'm over at pyramid lake in Nevada right now but when I get back to California I'll be dropping by the fisherman's Warehouse store
Alan, an absolute great instructional video for land locked Salmon. I know the Gitzit from back in the day. What Would Alan Do? For ocean Salmon? Alan Fong $alt techniques. Thank you. Mr. Q
Yes this method is deadly on salmon just have to try it! Let me know but in late fall when a lake turns over and you see trout jumping all over this method will work. It's better if the lake had thread fin shad in it. But I would try it even if it doesn't!
@@buckshotfishing1356 I've tried a smaller gitiz with no results. Saw signs of the lake turning yesterday as the birds were gathered around all of the mouths of the bigger creeks.
Awesome video!, best source of information, thankyou Sir!
Your welcome just trying to help everyone
I'M GLAD I FOUND THIS CHANNEL...I WAS SUBBED TO YOU AND WARREN'S CHANNEL..I'VE LEARNED ALOT THROUGH OUT THE YEARS
Good to hear
This was a great instructional video Alan. I'll definitely have to give it a try this year.
This has been a weird year for the salmon fishing in Berryessa as all the bait is still down 60-100 ft like the lake hasn't turned over yet!
Always learning new things from you. Learned how to fish salmon back in 96' from you. Since then til now, still a great mentor. Good stuff Allen!
yes this you tube channel will let me get out the info fast and I'm trying to answer all the comments too!
I'm gonna try at Lake Oroville this week. Any more tips would be greatly appreciated. Great video!!
Good luck!!
I subscribed because Thefishstalker Rob Cooper recommended your channel!
thanks to Rob N you

Yes Warren and I are always fishing together even after we stopped Fun Fishing. He's helping me with the YT channel too!
I’m ready let’s go!
Good seeing you at ISE and yes lets go fishing.
Tube never fails, I use smaller ones for bass crappie and blue gills
Gitizs have been my go to baits since they first came out long time ago!
Great video Alan. Good luck on your new channel. I will stay tuned.
Steve well have to get out fishing nice meeting you at the ISE show
It was a pleasure Alen. I will be looking foward to fishing with one of the true Delta legends. See you at the show.
Great info Alan.
Glad you enjoyed it

Reggie when Berryessa turns over I will make the video and post it asap which might happen soon with this north wind blowing
I look forward to trying your method for suspended salmon in Oroville when it turns over.
Which size white gitzit 2.5 or 3.5?
3.5 or 4" work great
Hi Alan, Great video, thank you! Which rod & reel is that?

you welcome!
Very good information Alan, thank you.
thanks waiting for Berryessa to turn over n I';; post a video on mooching

No your line will work fine. 8-10# test is perfect for mooching. A soft rod will catch you more fish. I always tie direct to the jighead

Great tips Allen! I know Folsom lake has kings have you tried your system out there? Is it too late in the year to go out to Folsom?
There catching some salmon in Folsom trolling now. Mooching later and no I haven't tried mooching there yet
Great video thank you for posting really appreciate all the help.
Tony I'm using YT to teach how to fish, hunt & cook as I'm always out doing these things so just need to bring the camera lol

Great video what time of the year are you doing this type of fishing?
Usually after the lake turns over and the baitfish (shad) come to the surface is when it gets good. Berryessa its usually starts in Dec thru Feb
@@AlanFong Thanks Alan I really enjoy your videos
Any idea where to find those level head jig heads(eye in middle of head) in that size? Looked everywhere online can’t find them
Bladerunner tackle makes them (Trix Tube Heads) is the design. Try Tackle Warehouse on line
Great video, thanks for sharing your success. I am curious what brand/length that gitzit is. Also if it’s a pearl or white glow. Thanks
Mike there Canyon Gitizs 3 3/4' white & use 1/4 - 3/16 oz darthead Fishermans Warehouse has in stock

My brother went today and I'll be out there this week!
I was out there today. Launched out of Markley and stayed in The Narrows. Graphing bait and fish still in 60-80 feet mainly. 55 degree surface temp.

Usually one oz spearheads. If your trolling it legal but if your mooching it's not because you have to use a circle hook
@@AlanFong thanks Alan! Do you tip it with herring as well? And use the same technique you described here?
Thanks you SENSEI!!

Yes all of our FW stores stock the Canyon white gitizs
When are you going to have a seminar at fisherman's Warehouse again
James right now we can't but hopefully we can start doing them again
Great vid, you jig them exactly the same way that I do, although I’ll sabiki the alewives rather than buy them. Tight lines bud!
Nice n it works great!

Wonder if this would work in Shasta or Almanor.

Now I assume this does not on Kokanee?
No not on Kokanee as they're a plankton feeder. But never know?
I'm going to try this ice fishing lake geroge
Give it a try and let me know if it works? Seems to work on all king salmon in these parts!
@@AlanFong should I try a smaller profile then 🤔

Please don’t add the annoying music loop. 🤨
