hi friends, I hope this is obvious but I chose these products for review back in June (I actually filmed this video at the end of June, before I'd decided to do no-buy July). Joe is still in charge of July reviews and some no-buy July content is coming soon :) Just wanted to clarify in case anyone is confused. Sending love
It brought me so much comfort to hear you say that you're an angrier and messier person right now. I am a strong believer in the power of kindness and compassion, but lately, with everything going on, I've been feeling short-fused and defensive. It's a delicate balance between validating my rage and knowing that compassion is more important now than ever. This quote has been especially meaningful to me lately, "You go on by doing the best you can. You go on by being generous. You go on by being true. You go on by offering comfort to others who can't go on. You go on by allowing the unbearable days to pass and allowing the pleasure in other days. You go on by finding a channel for your love and another for your rage." Cheryl Strayed
Truly, it is a relief to know I'm not the only one like this right now. I have no patience these days for idiots and fools and have been taking to calling myself a cranky goblin. Because that is truly how I feel right now.
Hannah, I wonder whether the creme shadow affected the color of the eyeliner? Black liners and shadows typically have blue pigment as a base and, mixed with the orangey-beige shadow, would make it turn teal
“It claims to have won some sort of award”… 😂 this is the best one liner from any beauty RUclips video ever. If I could like on this video one million times, I would.
Inspired by Old Gum, I have been using my Ulta matte cream eye shadows as blush for the last couple of months. As somebody who has also struggled to figure out how colors work with my skin tone, they have become some of my favorite blushes! I own the colors Game Over and Vintage Beauty and they both work as great neutral blush on my pale skin. Long live Old Gum ✨
So glad you're trying the rebrand! I've been occupying the same morbidly curious space as you ever since the rebrand was announced, but we didn't get any Sephoras in the midwest that are actually carrying the line in-store. I should theoretically be directly under the crosshairs of the Haus Labs target demo (life-long Gaga fan, drag queen, professional makeup artist of seven years) and yet *nothing* of the original line even came close to flirting with my wallet. This revamp LOOKS really compelling to me though-and you and I tend to have the same skintone needs, as well as similar tastes in the formulas of our daily makeup products-so I now feel reassured that a blind purchase of one of the pigments and/or highlighters might not go totally awry. Thank you for reviewing them! (Also, below is replying to a now-deleted comment comparing Haus Labs to high-end luxury pricepoints, but I'll post it here so as to not let my research go to waste.) Yeah, these are nowhere near the gram-to-gram cost of either Chanel or Chantecaille. The Haus Labs and Chanel bronzers are both 12g (0.42oz) in size, but the Chanel Les Beiges bronzers retail for $58 while the Haus Labs Power Sculpt Velvet is $38; a Chantecaille cheek color appears to be $42 for a miniscule 2.5g (0.08oz), or a downright bananas $220 for the gram equivalent of the other two. Haus Labs seems to be standard ~middle-of-the-road luxury~ you might expect to see at Sephora, fairly similar to the pricepoints of other celebrity-helmed brands like Fenty and Rare Beauty.
wow, thank you for all of the info, Spencer!! One thing about the highlighter that I didn't mention in this video is that even though it's the palest one (other than the sliver one), the reflect is decidedly gold. I've been using it almost every day since I filmed this and I've come to feel a bit irritated by the gold reflect because, as ever, it looks a bit orange on me. I just wish it were more neutral/champagne, and I actually kind of wish I'd tried the silver one instead. I'll definitely discuss this on camera when I revisit these products but wanted to let you know in case you are considering buying one before then!
Multi-purpose recommendation! Wet n Wild liquid catsuit in Nudie Patootie is phenomenal as an eyeshadow and blush. The color is a soft, neutral rosy brown that can blend out to almost nothing. I rely on you for pale olive complexion recommendations/reviews, so I think this product would work well for your preferences ☺
I’m telling you Wet N Wild eyeliner is the most long lasting of any I’ve ever used , and that includes Thrive Causemetics- I wanted to love this eyeliner so much but so far I’m underwhelmed.
Haven't watched this yet but I gasped out loud when I saw this in my sub box! Never would have expected Hannah to review this brand but now that it's here I need it beamed into my eyeballs immediately. As a life long Gaga stan and a loyal HLP subscriber, I am absolutely thrilled to watch this!
The whole look with the hair gives me late 80s, early 90s rock chick. The eye liner looks worn in- that's how I look in the evening at Rock am Ring. As if you got ready for a Guns'n'Roses concert. That's one of my favourite look when I go to a concert.
Hi Hannah, your hair is enchanting me. The wispy winglets that sweep away from your temples,the whorls that comma your forehead, and your natural russet shade reminds me of an elfin wood faun, or a cheeky yet beautiful cherub. In short, divine.
I liked your channel and your style right away when I found you on RUclips but now I'm devouring every one of your videos since you made it clear to me that I also have a light olive complexion like you and that it's difficult to find tips and color advice. Thank you for your great content and inspirational character (No Buy month is great)! ❤
I love first impressions because they give me a good idea on how easy it is to use the products when I'm still half-asleep in the morning but want some glam nonetheless
i have adhd and can't stand long videos, even if they're actually concise & to the point. beyond 15 minutes i groan, beyond 30 i skip altogether unless it's by a person or about a topic i really like. somehow, some way, i can listen to you talk FOREVER. i friggin' love how in depth you are. i think you have a calming aura idk. but anyway, yes i adore your deep dives but i agree i also love first impressions bc sometimes it's nice to see someone's fresh reaction to a product! edit: also i deeply appreciate that you timestamp your vids for aforementioned attention span reasons XD
I really love this rebrand! So happy to hear your thoughts on it. I was shocked to hear about your lip oil! I’ve never had a problem with them smelling weird. Hope you have a great day!!
haven’t watched the video, but just wanted to quickly tell you how much your uploads make me happy!!! i love seeing new videos from you in my subscriptions. thank you for doing everything you do ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Hannah. I saw Alexandra Anele do a great eye look in the bright green. It was so fun but beautiful at the same time. She said that it didn't smooth out as well as she hoped, but the outcome worked out in the end.
Hmm I'm curious if the lip oil you got might somehow be spoiled? I haven't tried the re-brand line myself yet (I was one of the rare big fans of her original Haus Labs line and the new products honestly bore me so far) but I have watched a lot of reviews on it and none have ever mentioned a bad smell or taste in the oil. Almost makes me curious to try it myself since I'm highly sensitive to taste/smell and see if I have the same reaction (however the drawer of lip oils I currently have to work through definitely don't think that's a good idea, lol). The look and yourself are so so lovely though!! I feel inspired to go vent my frustrations at the world by creating an angry grungey look on myself now.
I've been interested in the lipstick since Angie put out a review and your high praise solidifies it! I haven't figured out which color I want yet but it's living in my sephora loves list for now
I would say that the thing that is unusual about the Haus eyebrow pencil is that they have 13 colors. That is even more than Kosas (which has 10) and is really important to some people, especially those who are trying to find something that will not clash with their grey hair. So maybe that is part of the reason that they won the award?
Would you consider looking at the brand about face? I think Halsey is the face of the brand. I feel like some of it looks really fun and unique but I really respect your opinion and would love to hear your thoughts!
I was coming here to recommend the same. To be honest, this Haus rebrand looks and feels to me like a copy of About Face & Danessa Myricks, but way overpriced. I might be judging too harshly, but I feel strongly about celebrity brand that feel like they just put their name but don't actually care about the brand (Read Gaga with Haus or Ariana with REM)
Have you considered trying / reviewing the Nabla Skin Glazing blushes and highlighters? I own all but 1 shade now. I'm not a fan of gold highlighter. I got into them because I wanted glowy skin without highlighter. Now I'm back jn to highlighter lol. Ive been using the bronzer the longest. So far I'm enjoying them all.
Hannah!! Would you consider revisiting your series from last year where you swatched by color? (Ie swatching all the blue green bronze shadows in your collection) I’m rewatching the bronze one right now and think it’d make great no buy content! Not to mention that it’s extremely satisfying to watch :)
Obviously you had to choose what was right for you, but MAN, I would have loved to see you go full chartreuse on the eyes. I think that would be so fun and amazing on you. 💚 Not gonna lie, I've got all my fingers and toes crossed that Joe chooses something a little (or a lot) more out of the box for you in July. I would love to see something summery and playful, but still casual. 🌻🦋✨ No matter what you do, I'm here for it, though! You're the best, Hannah. Thank you so much for sharing. xo
Hannah, I have the lip oil product. But it's the one that is in the old packaging from Amazon. No scent, no weirdness. Also it's half off. Maybe it will work better for you than the revamped version? Your look is grungy loveliness ❤❤❤
The Howl bittat the end made me laugh, I have had bits of that poem rolling around my head all the time, especially that bit whenever I hear the word "madness." Haunted by it since a teen!
Hannah Hannah hannnnah hear me out your dream is my reality 😭😭😭 I’ve been using the hourglass gel eye liner for only three days, today this morning was my third day and it was dead before I do my other eye 🤡💔 so hearing your dream and the situation with the eye liner a very interesting coincidence!
Watching you use the eyeliner was really soothing to me. I was actually completely devastated by the rebrand because the original pencils are my favorite makeup product from the last year. I love the gray pencil so much, and my favorite colors are not in the new line. Also, the rebranded lip crayon also eliminated the colors I liked best. All my favorites gone is the ultimate rebrand BUMMER. I really like what you've done here, and so you've made me slightly less heartbroken. I'm still going to buy another gray (Street) eye pencil on Amazon for half price before it's gone forever though.
I’m assuming you’ve probably already tried this, but just in case, I have a gray liner from Nyx that I really like! They have a LOT of different kinds of liners as well as colors, so if you’re interested, I’ll look up which one it actually is. But to be honest, I haven’t disliked any pencil liners from Nyx. I’m sorry your favorite has been discontinued though, that always really sucks! I hope you’re able to find replacements and/or Haus redoes all the colors you’re missing!
Curious indeed on that PHD lip oil. I, like a scavenging bee, bought a few OG Haus products when they went on slash and buy prices on the Big A ~~50% plus off. I had zero interest in any of the original launches, but I was still curious on the basics... but not that curious. I picked up 2 shades of OG their brown gel liners {Burn and Go Diva} both so far, do what they are supposed to ~~ line the eyes, love them ~~ a brown eye liner has been on my shopping list and thought what the heck? The lip oil looked interesting in the Secondary "color" ~~ I use the term color loosely, as it has zero pigment when applied ~~ no ph adjusting color either, thank god. But, my point is: the OG lip oil, that I bought, has zero smell, no odiferous-ness, no old skin wound, no stanky morning breath, vomit smell, none. I collect perfume, I have a good nose, I adore scent ~~ the good, the bad, the in-between and the interesting. I keep opening my "old", but new from last week, Haus lip oil ~~ scentless, so comfortable on the lips ~~ thank goodness no color. Why would they change up something that appears to have been a good product on the first go around? Thank you for the heads up Hannah ~ I prefer not to smear yesterday's breath on my lips. So sorry you had to, thanks for taking one for the team! ~~~that lip crayon though in currant = ♥
I'm wondering if maybe now that it's a "clean" at Sephora brand the lip oil is missing some sort of neutralizing chemical or preservative and that's why it stinks?
@@historygirl82 Maybe so, but a shame as the version I have is pretty darn good ~~ and perfectly fine to be sure , whether it is fully clean or not, but you may be on to something.
HLP bringing a silent film star look with 80's punk rock hair. And I was pleasantly surprised with the finished look cause when you said bronze goddess I was thinking classic monotone look. And I'm always here for angry eyes.
This look is giving me Stranger Things vibes, and that may just be because I’m hyperfixating on the show right now but still 😂 I loveeee seeing you do vintage style looks!
I am so NOT a bronzer person. That being said, I bought this one after trying it in store . I love it (shade 2). I wear it similarly to you and into the crease too. I also bought the rose quartz highlight which is a perfect glowy pink blush. In love and shocked by that! Maybe a lip product is in my future! So pretty on you.
Do you have similar skin shade to HLP? I can't decide between Level 1 or 2! I don't like when they pull orange or red but if it's too cool it makes me look dead. 2 is described as "cool, golden undertones"???
@@analuna4793 Hi there, I would say that I have a fair to light skin tone with neutral undertones that sometimes lean warm. Maybe Drew Barrymore is a good comparison for my coloring and skin tone. My best foundation match is Blunder cover in 2.5. Hope that helps! I am still wearing it daily!! I am nowhere near as fair as HLP.
Hannah, the way you delivered the line "destroyed by madness starving hysterical naked" made me absolutely LOSE IT I'm so sorry you feel that way but like, same girl same
I feel like the teal black color of the eyeliner turned out to be a happy accident. Love the way everything came together and will be interested in your follow up thoughts.
for the lip oil it’s probably just that shade bc mine smells like a little hint of rose and doesn’t taste like vomit, but i have seen reviews saying it does for them so i’m not sure. i got secondary, the orange shade
“Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.” It’s giving me Artie from Cruella vibes, which i love ❤️🔥❤️🔥
there's a very old video on my channel showing the whole process, nothing has really changed! Just search "how I dye my brows" on my channel and it will pop up
You should look at the ysl nu cheek tint in the lightest shade. It reminds me of that pigment color, you may really like it. I'm very interested in it but I think it may be too pale for me.
I'm just here waiting for Hannah to sit down and start vigorously banging on a drum set...any minute now. I think we could all use a bit of this kind of therapy right about now too.
everything was so beautiful! I am curious about the powder cheeks as well myself. Have you tried the Charlotte tilbury Hollywood contour? the bronze and glow one . it's even more cool toned / neutral than this and is the perfect bronzer for very fair skin.
…waxes nostalgic for the sunburned cheek Hannah 😂 j/k you look great both ways. I cannot pull off this no blush look. You inspire me to try again though!
I had the old lip crayons and it was amazing. The color was perfect and it went on easily, didn't feel like I had anything on my lips but stayed out forever. It was like the Goldilocks product. Hope they haven't changed the formula too much.
Wow. I thought the lip oil would turn a nasty pink since it's name has "PHD" in it - I thought that was a play on PH-adjusting. :) Good to know that it's not!
I got the berry tinted lip oil and there was not a bad smell. Then again people have different smell sensitivities. I use boy brow from Glossier for a long time and recently bought an eye brow gloss thing from MAC and it just smells like alcohol.
I think those kind of beauty awards in magazines are all super sketchy. It's just PR and kickbacks. Lately my favorite eye looks look like I've been crying because I tend to emphasize the downturn of my eyes with a smokey liner. I'm all about angry and or sad eyes! I wonder if that beige eyepaint would make a good primer. Could you use it like that and let us know? I'm always on the hunt for products that work as a primer on my hooded eyes...
I don't have any scarring but the way my cheekbones are shaped and my pale thin skin means I have a really prominent blue-green vein on each side that looks like a bruise. It's so hard to cover and always really throws the colour of products off 😂 I've been trying to workshop a solution based on how you colour correct!
I have a very visible vein running from one corner of my mouth down to my chin! I've kinda given up on covering it, sometimes I throw some peach color corrector over it
I have the hot pink sheer lip oil from the original Amazon launch (and LOVE it) and it has no smell or taste, so it is a bit disappointing that they went backward with this Sephora launch.

~~~that lip crayon though in currant = ♥
I'm wondering if maybe now that it's a "clean" at Sephora brand the lip oil is missing some sort of neutralizing chemical or preservative and that's why it stinks?
@@historygirl82 Maybe so, but a shame as the version I have is pretty darn good ~~ and perfectly fine to be sure , whether it is fully clean or not, but you may be on to something.
this look made me think of Helen McCrory as Polly in Peaky Blinders 🥺❤️ def the vintage style like you mentioned
HLP bringing a silent film star look with 80's punk rock hair. And I was pleasantly surprised with the finished look cause when you said bronze goddess I was thinking classic monotone look. And I'm always here for angry eyes.
It all came out very nicely. I’ll check some of the products out
This look is giving me Stranger Things vibes, and that may just be because I’m hyperfixating on the show right now but still 😂 I loveeee seeing you do vintage style looks!
I am so NOT a bronzer person. That being said, I bought this one after trying it in store . I love it (shade 2). I wear it similarly to you and into the crease too. I also bought the rose quartz highlight which is a perfect glowy pink blush. In love and shocked by that! Maybe a lip product is in my future! So pretty on you.
Do you have similar skin shade to HLP? I can't decide between Level 1 or 2! I don't like when they pull orange or red but if it's too cool it makes me look dead. 2 is described as "cool, golden undertones"???
@@analuna4793 Hi there, I would say that I have a fair to light skin tone with neutral undertones that sometimes lean warm. Maybe Drew Barrymore is a good comparison for my coloring and skin tone. My best foundation match is Blunder cover in 2.5. Hope that helps! I am still wearing it daily!! I am nowhere near as fair as HLP.
It is a difficult time. Thanks for referencing it.
Hannah, the way you delivered the line "destroyed by madness starving hysterical naked" made me absolutely LOSE IT I'm so sorry you feel that way but like, same girl same
I feel like the teal black color of the eyeliner turned out to be a happy accident. Love the way everything came together and will be interested in your follow up thoughts.
for the lip oil it’s probably just that shade bc mine smells like a little hint of rose and doesn’t taste like vomit, but i have seen reviews saying it does for them so i’m not sure. i got secondary, the orange shade
You just look so absolutely perfect. Unbelievably gorgeous 😍
Love how the highlighter is giving glass skin
“Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.”
It’s giving me Artie from Cruella vibes, which i love ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Onyx means black🖤🏴☠️ Kim Possible taught me that
I would love to see you review the byredo makeup line
"comin' for my wig" 😂 hilarious!!!
That bronzer an highlighter looks gorgeous on you
Loved this video👏👏👏👏👏👏🌟 thanks, stay well and happy
I don't really know lady Gaga's music that much but so far, I'm loving her bronzers, blush, and eye cream shadow thingees
You should try nyx sweet cheeks so taupe liquid blush, I feel like it might be the dead salmon color of your dreams🖤
Hannah, would you mind sharing what you use to dye your eyebrows/how you do it?
there's a very old video on my channel showing the whole process, nothing has really changed! Just search "how I dye my brows" on my channel and it will pop up
@@HannahLouisePoston perfect - will do!
When I do a smokey eye, I love to use only bronzer and a subtle cream contour on my cheeks. I think a colorful blush takes away from the mystery.
Lol. 😆 Thank you for the honest review of the lip product.
You should look at the ysl nu cheek tint in the lightest shade. It reminds me of that pigment color, you may really like it. I'm very interested in it but I think it may be too pale for me.
I'm just here waiting for Hannah to sit down and start vigorously banging on a drum set...any minute now. I think we could all use a bit of this kind of therapy right about now too.
everything was so beautiful! I am curious about the powder cheeks as well myself.
Have you tried the Charlotte tilbury Hollywood contour? the bronze and glow one . it's even more cool toned / neutral than this and is the perfect bronzer for very fair skin.
I literally couldn’t care less about this brand, but a new HLP vid is an absolutely YASSS
…waxes nostalgic for the sunburned cheek Hannah 😂 j/k you look great both ways. I cannot pull off this no blush look. You inspire me to try again though!
I had the old lip crayons and it was amazing. The color was perfect and it went on easily, didn't feel like I had anything on my lips but stayed out forever. It was like the Goldilocks product. Hope they haven't changed the formula too much.
I’m with you in Rockland! (Maine) that is ❤️
Hey girl where are your hoops from? 😍
Love your hair 😻😻😻
i'm assuming you've tried the danessa myricks creampigments? those are amazing.
Excellent review!!
Speaking of green color correctors, Fitglow has a new one that I would be interested in seeing you try.
Wow. I thought the lip oil would turn a nasty pink since it's name has "PHD" in it - I thought that was a play on PH-adjusting. :) Good to know that it's not!
I thought the same thing! I thought it was a pH responsive stain, but maybe it’s just a setup to yell PhDeez Nuts
Wisdom so beautifully said. 1:05-1:35. ❤️💯👌
Damn! I love ❤️ this look! So bad ass!!!
Really enjoyed your excitement trying new things in this video. And my little goth heart will always looove a grungy, angry eye 🥰🥰🥰
I got the berry tinted lip oil and there was not a bad smell. Then again people have different smell sensitivities. I use boy brow from Glossier for a long time and recently bought an eye brow gloss thing from MAC and it just smells like alcohol.
I think those kind of beauty awards in magazines are all super sketchy. It's just PR and kickbacks. Lately my favorite eye looks look like I've been crying because I tend to emphasize the downturn of my eyes with a smokey liner. I'm all about angry and or sad eyes! I wonder if that beige eyepaint would make a good primer. Could you use it like that and let us know? I'm always on the hunt for products that work as a primer on my hooded eyes...
I don't have any scarring but the way my cheekbones are shaped and my pale thin skin means I have a really prominent blue-green vein on each side that looks like a bruise. It's so hard to cover and always really throws the colour of products off 😂
I've been trying to workshop a solution based on how you colour correct!
I have a very visible vein running from one corner of my mouth down to my chin! I've kinda given up on covering it, sometimes I throw some peach color corrector over it
I have the hot pink sheer lip oil from the original Amazon launch (and LOVE it) and it has no smell or taste, so it is a bit disappointing that they went backward with this Sephora launch.
“ I was drawn to the not bright colors” ha!
I wonder how this highlighter compares to the phytosurgence one? 🤔😁
Hell yeah! I’ve been so curious about this brand
What do you use to dye your eyebrows? I was thinking about trying men's beard dye
There should be an old video in How I dye my brows.
It's the surprise at a color called Onyx being black for me.
Angry eyes
Omg that eye look with bechy beauty singles maybe so grunge?
