These are fragments without context, you can be surprised. The initial episodes were made with a joke and thought out. Then, when they discovered the green screen, financial cuts began. 12:35 yeah you are right, women in this show are working and taking care of house when most of stupidity comes from main character, unemployed father of a family Ferdynand with his motto "Zarobić żeby się nie narobić" which translates to "How to earn without working hard" it's a obvious word play in Polish. First seasons had one comic women character Babka Kiepska Grandma of Family and Ferdek Mother in law , she was in constant conflict with him about TV and her money that he was wasting on alcohol, played by passed awy great theatre actress Krystyna Feldman.

The first seasons was centered on Kipesy's family (mostly father and son), but later was about 3 neighbours (Ferdek, Paździoch & Boczek) and their adventures.
Hi Rob. The series was very strange. The jokes were related to current events and were often so stupid and absurd that they became funny. The humor was crude. Sometimes just slapstick. Cheers!

you'd be surprised Rob, but some clips might be from the latest episodes of this series. There was once a while, a satire of modern times since the premiere. Sometimes it works most of the times it doesn't. But getting to the end is a ride.

These scenes were absurd, but they actually made sense. They were just too short to you understand them. You should watch sth longer. This series is inspired by Monty Python, Married with children and The Simpsons. It was broadcast in years 1999-2023.
Świat Według Kiepskich was a very popular show back in early 2000s because of its sheer absurdity. Things made zero sense and that was basically the charm of the show. It also appealed to a lot of people because the main characters were all basically a parody of an average Pole of the 90s and early 2000s - fresh out of communism, in the middle of economical and cultural transformation, no money and trying to find a place in the new world. The main character is unemployed. Unemployment in Poland reached the record-breaking 20% in the early 2000s. I honestly think it was a bit of a coping show - one that allowed Poles to kind of laugh at themselves. We all had people kind of like those in the show in our families, friend circles or among neighbours. And of course, this particular compilation contains all the most absurd clips. Most of the show wasn't that weird ;)
Ten serial trzeba znać w całości by zrozumieć Polskę.
I'll try to explain a little of the context. The series' plot takes place in a tenement house in Wrocław. During the communism era, a lot of people lived in such houses, with only one bathroom on a floor. (Yes, flats had no own bathrooms, the bathroom was outside, common for people from few flats). In many episodes the three main characters meet at the door of the bathroom, when all of them need to use it at same time. One of those 3, the fat one (his last name Boczek litterally meaning "Bacon") was living on another floor, where he had another bathroom. But he was always using the one downstairs. Why? There was an episode explaining this. Of course nowadays there is no "common bathrooms" anymore. People living in such tenement houses now have them at own flats, like everywhere else. But in the series the "common bathroom" existed until the last episode. And yes, in the series female characters were usually the reasonable ones, almost never doing silly things. A little like in the Benny Hill's shows - there also, only the men where those who were silly.
Given my fellow poles fail to explain the sense of this show, I'll do it. Series follows inhabitants of a tenement on the fictional address ul. Ćwiartki 3 (Literally Quarter 3). I think flat numbering got wonky over the years, but I'm 70% positive flat no. 1 is empty/empty and bricked up to prevent vandalism. Not sure about no. 2. Under number 4 lives Kiepscy family. Father, Ferdynand. Speculated to either have no education at all or have super obscure overly high education. Jobless, lazy bum, tries to earn money without much work. Mother, Halina. Works as a nurse in city hospital. Often threatens her husband about divorce and visiting a divorce attorney. Son, Waldemar. Slightly dumb, muscle guy. Was away for quite a few years in USA, working under his uncle Stanley's guard. Married to Jolasia. Who is even dumber. Daughter, Mariola. The reasonable one. There was also Halina's mother, Rozalia (which implies Ferdek took Halina's surname, to this day a very uncommon occurence). She was a mean pensioner who played chess with medicne bottles, loved Koziołek Matołek and caller her son-in-law KANALIA. Passed away over fifteen years ago. Their neighbors from 3/3 flat are Paździoch family, Marian and Helena. He works on a bazaar where he sells cheap lingerie with a large margin. Prone to heart attacks, fake and real ones (hence his catchphrase "Helena, mam zawał!"). Ages ago there was a video compilation of all of Marian's heart attacks. I think Helena is a housewife. I believe they have at least one adult son, but to my knowledge it's like Sheridan from Keeping Up Appearances. He's mentioned but never seen. On the floor above lives Arnold Boczek, who moved to Ćwiartki 3 building way from the city of Elbląg in the north of the country. He works as a butcher, loves to eat and watch Mongolian Ballet. There was a neighbor under no. 1, Borysek, but he died aeons ago. There was also mailman, Edzio, who loved to speak in rhymes. Also passed away. In new episodes there are (or were) a few more characters. Kozłowski, HOA president. Dreams of turning tenements on Ćwiartki into a modern day developer sites. Malinowska, a shopkeeper. There was one more neighbor, -but forgot his name. Will edit when I remember.- 9:26 reminded me, Badura. He's from the newer episodes which I haven't watched much.
This is actually "sitcoms are meant to be cheap? let's make it even cheaper!". Cheaspest possible effects, humor even below regular sitcoms and even more ridiculous.
This series started out as a really intelligent satire of the times. Over time, however, the series simply turned into a sitcom with weird humor, which for some reason continued for a dozen or so years :) But the fact is that the series itself has a cult status among the turn-of-the-century generation, and some of the lines have permanently entered everyday speech.
This show was all around the idea of Ferdynad Kiepski arguing with Marian Paździoch, his neighbor, over the most stupid things. The only time they were on the same page was when Boczek (a neighbor form a floor above or below i believe) came to their floor because they had a better toilet. Then they both told him to "go away becasue you don't live here". Even if they argue, they spend a lot of time together drinking beer and coming up with ideas for various businesses and other things. Their wives were kind of second leads (as you saw), both had fairly good jobs and were kind of tired of their husbands aruing, often they were the ones to break the argument on the hallway and bring their husbands home. I watched it around 2000-2010 and don't remember any of the scenes that were in this video. I think such a mashup of short clips is very hard to properly enjoy even for someone who knows this show well. You should watch longer scenes or an entire episode ;)) Also, since you said you think these were older episodes, there were newer clips too. If you look closesly the new episodes have much better quality (i can also tell by the age of all actors), and i believe the ones from comedy central are form around 2015-2022, since this used to only be aired on regular polsat channel. I believe this was always supposed to be a cheap show, it was very fitting for a show about Kiepski (literally "poor" as in describing quality) Also also, it was a really popular show, some of the phrases used in Świat Według Kiepskich we use in daily life. They were more frequently used in 2010' but to this day you can hear that "something couldn't be dreamed up by the phisiologists" (mine rough translation of "nie śniło się fizjologom" which Ferdek uses instead of "nie sniło sie filozofom" - couldn't be dreamed up by the philosophers)
Finally! I love Świat według Kiepskich! I always hoped that one day you'd make a reaction to a whole episode or some fragment, but I couldn't find anything with English subtitles... Yes, with what you saw, you'd think this show is absurd, but it was made at the time when everything was kinda absurd and later they ran out of ideas(only a few new episodes were good). And no, there are fragments with women being ridiculous, but not in this video I guess... You should see the ones with Paździoch's wife - Helena for example... All characters in this show are representations of some kind patology. Ferdek is alcoholism and unemployment, his son is an uneducated thug, Paździoch does some shady business, his wife terrorizes him with domestic violence and Boczek is ostracized by his neighbors and has problems with eating. Everything was supposed to be dark and unsettling at the begining, but they turned it into a comedy with a hidden messege.
As you mentioned that sitcom has lasted many years, but most people would agree, that first few series were its highlight and then it was artificially kept alive due to its legendary status. Now most of important actors are dead, both of them 1:11 and them 1:50. The main actor is alive, though. Btw. I'd love you seeing "Kapitan Bomba", e.g. the last episode called "Yeti" or "Tytanis". It's younger humor mostly popular among millennials and older gen z. Many dialogues got into everyday speech.
Fun fact at 9:56 the young "gangsta" is portreyed by Wojtek Łuszczykiewicz, lead singer of the pop-rock band Video that you have seen in the video about most popular polish songs from each year
The main character's name is Kiepski which means "bad", "poorly made" and this is a general idea behind this sitcom. The characters, the set, the special effects and everything is so bad that it makes this sitcom surreal, funny and so good. These scenes are short and taken out of context. You would have to watch one whole episode to make sense out of a random scene. I don't think you have to be Polish to understand it, just need a context which you'd have watching a whole episode.
Big mistake you watched this movie. ŚWK is an outstanding comedy series, it comments on our reality in a great way, mainly in Poland, but also in the world. These shortcuts showed it badly.
The meaning of the family name Kiepski is the part of the comedy. In general, it means that something is not well put together, not working well, or way below expectations. If business is not doing well, you can say that business is kiepski. If women doesn't take care of children, cook or man is a coward you can say that she is kiepscka woman or a kiepski man.
this video is a collection of the most WTF moments of the series, but not the funniest. I recommend watching one full episode to get a feel for the overall humor and atmosphere of this series. I recommend the episode "Kocham Biurokracje'' (in eng. I Love Bureaucracy), which is considered one of the best episodes. It may not seem so at first glance, but this series has long been a perfect representation of the reality of life in Poland in a distorting mirror. He satirically made fun of our problems, politics, stereotypes and simply what Poles are like. Honestly, it's hard to find more Polish productions in our country. An interesting fact is that at the beginning the series was very inspired by "Married with Children", known in Poland as ''Świat Według Bundych (in eng The World According to Bundy's). Hence the title of the series. Świat Według Kiepskich (in eng The World According to Kiepsky's) Kiepski is the surname of the main character of the series, and it means bad, crappy If there is such a video somewhere, I also recommend watching moments from another popular Polish sit-com. Miodowe Lata (Polish adaptation of the original American series The Honeymooners)
The earlier episodes, directed by Okil Khamidov are generally regarded the best. But the TV station really wanted to milk that show, so that's how it ended lasting as long as it did. If it wasn't for the two of the three lead actors dying, it could possibly still be running.
Majority of those scens are from new episodes when producers didn't have any more ideas but were trying to push it on coz people loved early episodes,it's only about first 100 episodes that are worth watching, those early ones are about unempoyed alko who is trying his best to make money, his hardworking wife, idiot son and adolescent dougther, add couple nosy neighbours and toilet humor, amazing sitcom that will make you laugh
Don't complain about the crappy quality. That's the point here. Kiepski means loosy, poor, hopeless, crap, so I don't know what efects you expected. We like it because it shows our flaws and we like to laugh at ourselves, as long as we do it by ourselves. And very good acting.
"Świat według Kiepskich" was supposed to be a rip-off of "Married with Children", you can clearly see the same family size, but instead Ferdek - the main character - is unemployed and Halinka - his wife - is a nurse, unlike in the Married with Children, where Al was a shoe seller and Peggy... well, just existed, but in the end it turned out like this. Watching it out of context is not recommended, because it's all... well, as you can clearly see - weird. It's a typical, classic comedy, the first episodes were made as cheaply as possible to recoup the money invested in the potential series, but it worked for over 23 years.
This show is a classic Polish satire. It's basically about the life of an unemployed alcoholic after the collapse of the soviet block. Usually he's trying to make money in extraordinary ways or encounter weird situations. He has an annoying wife and even worse mother-in-law, dumb af son, daughter with teenage problems and stereotypical neighbors. It looks cheap till the last episode to give a silly 90s VHS vibes. You should watch one of the earliest episodes (they were the best) instead of this sh*t.
To be honest Paul i appreciate you finally did watch Kiepscy but out of context it doest make sense you should watch all episodes or at least longest fragments like episode about polish biurocracy or one about funeral. This way you may understand polish society a little bit more. If I manage to do it i will send you this ones with subtitles
Rob in this scene 2:00 Boczek Ferdek and Paździoch are trying to catch the ministre of all finances. Boczek the FAT one had a mousetrap in his pants bjt when he sneezes you know...
If you would like full seasons and episodes they are free on the internet just type world according to kiepskie season 1 etc, but I don't know if they are in English, sure they are in Polish hah
Actually the main reason for this show to have such a popularity was this shitty greenscreen and scenarios that don't make sense. One of my favourtie episodes is when Paździoch on top of the Giewont mountain in surplice plays the international on the keyboard for children to contact UFO. This shit doesn't make any sense and is totally brainrot. And thats the reason why it is widely loved. Because in Poland nothing makes sens also IRL.
Watching this out of context is a crime. Even though it's my favorite show, I couldn't bear to watch some of the clips-they're cringe-worthy. I really recommend watching the entire episode. Avoid any of the old episodes, the humor back then was rather primitive.
I don't know if watching fragments like that without context makes much sense. I haven't watched this series either, because the level of humor in it is weak for me.
The point of this show is that there is no point. It's just one man who wants to get rich without having a job, but there are no laws of reality that cannot be broken. The junky effect are there to add how ridiculous it all is.
This is one of my favorite TV series, but if someone showed me such clips, I’d probably think, like you, that it’s primitive and unfunny. The creator clearly has a different sense of humor and is entertained by different things because the series definitely didn’t rely on cheap special effects (which were intentionally cheap). Besides, watching this series without context or some cultural and linguistic background makes no sense.
Huge problem with Polish comedy is that we have this pattern of a childish guy and responsible sensible lady, which is how you can recognize weak cabarets. If you have "chłop przebrany za babę" your skits are so bad that no woman would play along.
I really hate this series, not my sense of humor . I recommend polish comedy series showing comunism times called Alternatywy 4 or comedy film showing same era called Miś. These are real classics full of absurd from the times behind the iron curtain .

At 0:50: Oh Rob, you have absolutely no idea what's coming.....
This is very good polish comedy. this video shows very distorted view on it
Fun fact at 9:56 the young "gangsta" is portreyed by Wojtek Łuszczykiewicz, lead singer of the pop-rock band Video that you have seen in the video about most popular polish songs from each year
To trzeba zobaczyć całe odcinki, najlepiej z pierwszej serii bo były najlepsze, a takiej składanki to anglik nie zrozumie

Doda ktoś napisy🎉
Ohh Rob, its hard to explain what u watched. This sitcom is probably legendary.
This is cult serial in Poland. One of the best!!!
this video is a collection of the most WTF moments of the series, but not the funniest.
Świat Według Kiepskich (in eng The World According to Kiepsky's) Kiepski is the surname of the main character of the series, and it means bad, crappy
If there is such a video somewhere, I also recommend watching moments from another popular Polish sit-com. Miodowe Lata (Polish adaptation of the original American series The Honeymooners)
It's a... special series. Definitely not for everyone.
The earlier episodes, directed by Okil Khamidov are generally regarded the best. But the TV station really wanted to milk that show, so that's how it ended lasting as long as it did. If it wasn't for the two of the three lead actors dying, it could possibly still be running.
Oh my, this one is certainly a ride. ŚWK is very very tough comedy
Rob, if you want to know some other Polish ridiculous sense of humour, you should watch Polish LEGENDARY animation - Kapitan Bomba.
These moments are extremely out of context, because with context this was the funniest TV show in Poland in 2000s
That’s the point. The green screen is supposed to be like that and the tackiness is what makes it so silly
this series is quite good, unfortunately someone only posted idiotic fragments
Amazing!!!!❤❤❤❤
To understand this, you have to graduate from our government, express university Collegium Tummanum. But this one went to prison in its entirety.
I love the show, but honestly, I thinkt its too polish for you
Don't worry as I stressed, I'm not meant to get it or understand it. It was just for a bit of a laugh
@@RobReacts1 ofc it was out of content, you could try some episodes, give it a chance, try to undestand the flow
i love this show
"Świat według Kiepskich" was supposed to be a rip-off of "Married with Children", you can clearly see the same family size, but instead Ferdek - the main character - is unemployed and Halinka - his wife - is a nurse, unlike in the Married with Children, where Al was a shoe seller and Peggy... well, just existed, but in the end it turned out like this.
Show is quite good but I dont get watching it out off context since you are confused most of time
You know that it was polish version of "Married with children"? Yea, Al Bundy, Peggy etc. Far from oryginal but that's was initial idea.
To be honest Paul i appreciate you finally did watch Kiepscy but out of context it doest make sense you should watch all episodes or at least longest fragments like episode about polish biurocracy or one about funeral. This way you may understand polish society a little bit more. If I manage to do it i will send you this ones with subtitles
the first seasons were the best when Grandma Kiepska was still alive. When the director changed, the series got worse.
I like the Old ones the are very funny 4:15 Paździerzyca Ferdek sens Paździoch (the bald guy) everywhere. P.s. They hate each other.
Rob in this scene 2:00 Boczek Ferdek and Paździoch are trying to catch the ministre of all finances. Boczek the FAT one had a mousetrap in his pants bjt when he sneezes you know...
better watch full episod to get context, I loved this series, visual effects are purposely clumsy.
And now, let us explain for all the outlanders, what is going on in Poland.
Don't go down that road Rob....
8:42 What do you expect from Poland lol
The special effects were intentionally so weak that they would be funny in a specific context so stfu dog
Watching this out of context is a crime. Even though it's my favorite show, I couldn't bear to watch some of the clips-they're cringe-worthy. I really recommend watching the entire episode. Avoid any of the old episodes, the humor back then was rather primitive.
In this show happened everything almost like The Simpsons
you should watch episodes one by one really :D
plis translate ..... to będzie szokujące kabaret ... yt - Mecz o wszystko - POLSKA LIGA PICIA
I don't know if watching fragments like that without context makes much sense. I haven't watched this series either, because the level of humor in it is weak for me.
it's a pretty avant-garde fun post. I love Kiepscy but it's an acquired taste
also, the jank is a stylistic choice - at least later om
Swiat wedlug Kiepskich
Nikt gorszy nikt lepszy
Kolejka dla wszystkich
Nie trzeba reszty
I would never recommend this series to you - it's very specyfic even for Polish viewers.
The point of this show is that there is no point. It's just one man who wants to get rich without having a job, but there are no laws of reality that cannot be broken. The junky effect are there to add how ridiculous it all is.
Hello Rob. I wish you to have a nice day. I still have hope one day you will check cinematic trailers of The Witcher games
Fragments only? Eeee...
Try episode "Umcia Umcia"
I co?....zdziwiony????...😂😂😂
Huge problem with Polish comedy is that we have this pattern of a childish guy and responsible sensible lady, which is how you can recognize weak cabarets. If you have "chłop przebrany za babę" your skits are so bad that no woman would play along.
👍
I like you
There were worse and better episodes. It's like a combination of Married... with Children and Monty Python.
Too bad all of these scenes are out of the context. Apart from that I recommend older episodes.
I really hate this series, not my sense of humor . I recommend polish comedy series showing comunism times called Alternatywy 4 or comedy film showing same era called Miś. These are real classics full of absurd from the times behind the iron curtain .
No offense, but you won't understand
you are English, only Poles will understand it🙂
Akurat odcinek o biurokracki jakby ktoś podrzucił na pewno by zrozumiał
Albo niedziela wyborcza
Obejrzyj i zapomnij
Większość ludzi to prymitywy :)
@robertpoland3963 Dlaczego tak uważasz?
Pierwszy raz nie obejrzę pana odcinka do końca. Tych głupot nie idzie oglądać. Pozdrawiam
Akurat pojedyncze odcinki by zrozumiał na pewno o biurokracji albo ten gdzie rodzina Boczka wszytko wyżarła Kiepskim
