A lot of credit card debt is incurred due to economical reasons caused by current administration. Before 2020 when Trump was in office we (Upper Lower Class) didn't have to take copious amounts of money out on credit cards to keep our mortgages paid. But now we do, y'know why? The current administration aka the government; So you're right and also wrong, while it is not their responsibility to cover our debt, Trump is being gracious and trying to clean up the mess Biden caused.

People are having to use their credit cards to pay for basic necessities like groceries and utilities, that's why credit card debt is so high because the economy sucks.
Inflation is going to need to stay at 2% over the next 3 to 4 years for everything to catch up. That’s the only way out.
The government is not the organization responsible for individual poor economic decisions. If you are asking big government to bail you out from your credit card debt , you have issues.

The question was, what are you going to do to lower prices so people don't have to use their credit cards to buy food anymore? His answer was, drill for oil and close the border. Runaway inflation and politics. People can accept taxation, to a point, and rising prices, to a point. Printing is politically safer because it’s not taken from you. The problem with printing is that the Fed Reserve does not give the money to the government, it spreads it through the banking systems for the government to borrow from. Keeping this up (as we’ve done over decades) is what has caused inflation. So we need actual money, tied to product and labor markets, to pay down the debt from borrowing the printed money, to slow inflation caused by printing the money and expanding the supply.
It should be mentioned, on the other side of it, flooding the banks with more money also means people and businesses can borrow more and start new and innovative projects. The hope is that the economy grows and minimizes the effective inflation from the expanded money supply.

Solution to rising credit card debt is to live within one's means and avoid interest charges by paying off the balance each billing cycle. It's not the government's responsibility to underwrite your irresponsibility.

Credit card interest should be capped at no more than 10 points above prime. Then maybe banks will stop giving broke people excessive credit lines. Increase their risk, they will become much more responsible lenders.

With credit card debt being at $1.1 Trillion, it does suck. Sadly, majority of it is still due to over the top lifestyle choices. Our leaders should focus on fixing or helping our inflation issues, from there consumers can help THEIR debt issues.
I've used mine for vet bills... I have no extra money after taxes utilities insurance and groceries... I'm a responsible person. But sometimes your pay doesn't stretch especially in Joe and Kamala's economy.
