      BP x Sometimes people have bad days and fall, unfortunately Alicia had a bad day during team finals. That doesn't mean she isn't a good gymnast. Even the best gymnasts fall and make mistakes sometimes.

Sticks were still for men then on FX. It should have stayed that way. Way too many injuries happening now. Just look at 17 worlds

      Difficulty off the charts? Not a single pass higher than E, and a pretty average D score for the time. She's clean and tumbles well, but difficulty wasn't her thing.

    The 2008 gymnast were absolutely incredible. They had their mistakes during the 2008 team final, but I believe that the natural talent on the 2008 team was actually greater than that on the 2012. Not taking anything from the fierce five - that gold metal says they are pretty awesome too! But that's my observation. *Also... I am guessing the difficulty code of points changed significantly? It seems extremely difficult to get in the 15's on floor lately.

    • @JosephCampanella614
      @JosephCampanella614 10 лет назад +10

      Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but in 2008, 10 elements were counted instead of the current 8 - which would account for the current scores being lower than they were during that time.
      And while I agree that the 2008 girls were amazing, I don't think the natural talent from the girls in 2008 is higher than the girls in 2012. Giving just a few examples:
      1) Maroney's vault is the best in the world. Also each of the girls on the 2012 team could technically compete an Amanar (granted - Kyla struggled with it and doesn't compete it often, but a) she was a first year senior during these games and b) she gets all her points from bars and beam), where as I think in 2008 only Johnson could compete it. Also in 2008 Alicia was USA's vault girl, and both of Maroney's vaults were more difficult and more consistent (despite the fact that the ONE competition she messes up the second vault happened to be the Olympic games)
      2) Aly's floor score is the highest fx score in the history of women's gymnastics at the Olympics (and I say this knowing that Sandra Izbasa did score higher when she won in 2008 - but if you adjust her score to the 2012 code, it wouldn't be as high as Aly's). If you took Izbasa's score, adjusted it to the 2012 code, and ranked it with the other medalists from the 2012 games, she would have only won the bronze medal.
      3) Also Aly, Gabby, and Shawn's beam d-score (adjusted 2012 code) are the same, even though Aly doesn't do a full twisting back tuck. Jordan's was actually .2 higher.

    • @andreid.8568
      @andreid.8568 4 года назад +1

      @@extra_ice_girl Not really. Peszek had the 2nd beam and floor (after Shawn) and the 3rd vault. Sloan yes, kindof a filler except fir bars (poor form, but bigger D score than Shawn)

    Yes. That's why she's a world champion and silver medallist on floor. Not to mention numerous world cup medals. Oh, and a finalist on balance beam. It had nothing to do with her weight, she had injuries leading up to Beijing and while in Beijing that required surgery in her legs and shoulders.
    Mihai is a great coach, and he's proved that with 2 very international successful gymnasts who are multiple world champions.

  • @acapannn

    Gymnast fans especially Americans should not put all the blames on Sacromone for losing team's gold in Beijing. She was actually the alternate for Memmel for floor and beam. But since Memmel was in injury during podium training, Sacromone had to replace her and get to mentally prepared in a very limited short time. She was heavily under pressured because USA was waiting for that team's GOLD. Till now people still blame her for her mistakes but for me, she is still one of the talented, consistent, persistent and skilful gymnast in USA

    @MisanthropistPro if you notice it's usually the more muscular compact gymnasts who don't cross their feet when twisting (Mattie Larson is an exception to this body type since she doesn't cross her feet either) and usually the longer, leaner gymnasts like Nastia always cross their feet.

She's going to compete in the Olympic Trials just like everyone, but as the world's BEST gymnast (literally, she won worlds, she's the reigning champ), it'd be stupid of the USA to not take her to Olympics. Guys, Alicia Sacramone does a double arabian. Some of you may be talking about an arabian double front, and in a double front, most gymnast's legs' are apart, or cowboyed as some say. Double arabian's are different than an arabian double front(if you would like to see an arabian double front look at Aliya Mustafina's floor, Carly Patterson's floor, or Alexandra Raisman, although more gymnasts do arabian double fronts.).

I agree with you, I hate the dissing, she's not terrible, the fact she even MADE the Olympics says she's very talented, but she's human and it's not like she's the only one who has had bad luck at the Olympics, it can happen to anyone. both body types have advantages. the skinnier ones, such as nastia, usually have much more elegant and graceful lines and are for the most part (dont get me wrong- there are exceptions) more artistically appealing to the eye. however they usually cross their feet on twists. the more muscular ones, such as alicia, are much more explosive on their tumbling passes, making them look much more powerful, so to say. however, they dont really have the grace and poise factor that the slimmer ones do.

    What does it mean she doesn't "cowboy" her double Arabian? And is that the skill at the end of the 2nd tumbling pass, 0:33-0:39?

      Is called cowboy the deduction when you open your legs in a skill, they should be always close together

    Such a shame she had so many consistency issues at the Olympics and later in her career, she was excellent when she hit her routines
