In addition I hope people watching this dont get the wrong impression as to how it all works.lol😅 The medical field is typically a fast paced environment where patients are coming in to be checked in, insurance verification has to be run at every appointment , follow up appointments are being made when the patient is leaving, copays and deductibles are collected, referrals and authorizations are prioritized daily, sometimes patients need to be roomed, communication with drs and staff is a constant need, future visits have to be booked and other daily tasks are assigned. In my experience of 25 years I had no time to have a snack at the desk or time to work in a slow pace because I myself ran the show alone at that front desk or there were usually 2 of us handling dozens of patients and tasks for the office. Medical offices do vary on skills needed and amount of work to be done but the majority are fast paced. It is a very important job and I wouldnt change any of my career. It was very high energy and very fulfilling. The only thing I would want these videos to show is how it really is on a day to day basis.

I obtained a professional baccalaureate in secretarial work about twenty years ago now, and after a long period in a field with another public, I would like to return to the medical secretarial work, which seems very interesting and challenging.

I see myself working in a medical office, and get excited 😆 but at the same time feel nervous and afraid because I speak English as a second language,and I’m afraid to speak with people through the phone.siento que no les voy a entender cuando me digan su nombre.😣

I’m almost done, Jan 15 is my grad day and I’m excited. But in the meantime I’ve been a CNA and it’s completely different lol.

Hey lovely! I came across your YT channel! I start my receptionist job on Monday and I'm kind of nervous because its something very new to me. I've been a pediatric MA for the past 5 years but could not do it anymore due to complete burnout and short staff for so long and the company would not do much about it. Anyways, what are your tips for being a sucessful receptionist? (I did front desk occasionally)

That’s why I switched from an MA to reception cause I was getting over worked and doing other peoples job so I left. Honestly, it’s super easy not much to it, take lots of mini notes and ask questions if your unsure ☺️
FYI depending on the office specialty there's a high possibility of complete burnout at the 3 to 5 year mark due to the demands of a busy provider's office and keeping up with insurances as they seem to change their coverages on the daily. Referrals and billing are so part of front office tasks as well as authorizations and being the one to collect all co-pays and balance off at the end of each day.

I have an interview tomorrow for a Medical Receptionist position
Im surprised no head set to use the phone and not generating referrals by computer and faxing through the computer. The days of hand written referrals and correspondence are a thing of the past and majority of Insurance is verified online and authorizations are done online.
Offices are virtually paperless in 2024. Get updated and you can streamline your processes
What would you say is the most difficult task for upcoming MOA’s?
Honestly just learning to deal with the difficult patients. Everything else in my opinion is easy, you just have to be able to multitask
How long did it take to become that like school time ? Is the pay good ? Which certifications did you get ?

It’s an 8 month course I did medical assistant/ receptionist and I got certificates for that along with phlebotomist cert. pay is ok when you’re starting out they start paying good when you get experience.
No mask? I am a medical receptionist also and we have to wear a mask 40 hours a week. It will be three years in March wearing a mask.
No, we haven’t worn them for a while now. Just depends where you work.

Medical assistant and medical receptionist course. I was an assistant at a difference clinic before I accepted the job as a medical receptionist
You should ask your employer for a decent headset!
Yes, you are so right! My neck hurts all the time 😕
@@maricela93 Your neck will be much happier! Try to get a wireless headset so no wires to mess up your desk and you can move about your office when on calls.
I actually asked for one a few times buuuutt you know how that goes 😔

I worked front desk for many years and always asked at the interview if they use a headset or if it is possible to hook one up if hired. My reason to employers if I am able to work faster with a headset!😅

Maybe you can try and be a little nicer to the male staff/trainee? Would be great. I’d be scared to work under a boss like you, sorry. I think you’re amazing though as a receptionist, just not being caring enough to be a boss/trainer/manager.
