Do you know Aizens interaction chapter was named "The Return of a God"? Also how smug of Shunsui, Aizen undid his seals of left eye and ankles and when he asked Shunsui to use 2 more keys, Shunsui used the keys on the left eye and Ankles😂😂
People can be born in Soul Society that's why there are noble families, like the Kuchiki and Shihoin clan; We've known this since the Soul Society arc lol
I absolutely love that both Ukitake and Unohana get these extra scenes! Ukitake having a parallel moment akin to Unohana's is really cool! Her line saying that she's satisfied and happy to be able to finally fulfil her life's purpose and here we see Ukitake fully content to achieve his life's purpose. The two types of battle part is a great callback to when Rukia was taught that during Kaien's death battle. Here we see Ukitake being honored to do this final act and protect the honor of Soul Society, and we see Shunsui throwing away honor to let Aizen out. It's really cool to see their duality as they were effectively brothers who both studied under Yamamoto, someone who was so bound to honor that he didn't question Rukia's execution, nor want to accept the help from humans on multiple occasions, but Kyouraku full on willing to accept any and all help at the cost of his honor is a great character distinction (also kind of honorable in a different way) Yhwach seemed a bit surprised when Orihime used her powers to heal Ichigo in the previous episode sooo MAYBE there's something there. She might not be able to heal him due to her power being a lesser power just like Yhwach isn't able to use his Almighty vs Reio.
Oh. Y’all may or may not remember this (I just remembered it myself) but last Cour I wanna say it was Episode 24? We got that anime original flashback of a meeting between the Yhwach and Ichibei; we got our first look at “The Almighty” although we didn’t know that yet, and he grabbed Ichibei by the arm and we get a better glimpse of what Ichigo had been seeing the whole season (the soul kings limbs being removed and getting sealed). Some sort of giant hand came out of Ichibei then sealed The Almighty in Yhwach and Ichibei says something along the lines of “You didn’t think I would give you the Soul Kings left arm for free?” Implying that Ichibei used the arm of the soul king to seal Yhwachs eyes and he didn’t see it happening the same way he didn’t see Mimihagi stabilizing the Soul King in this episode. So that begs the question; if the right arm of stillness is Mimihagi which resided in Ukitake all this time, then what happened to the left arm that sealed Yhwach?
While the scenes with Shunsui and Aizen as well as Ukitake’s sacrifice of Mimihagi were in the manga, everything else was very much not. We saw very little of Ukitake as a child so all of that was completely new and it gives so much more of his character that we’ve only briefly seen throughout the whole series. Everyone trying to jump Yhwach so Orihime could try to restore the Soul King was new although her trying was the same. This episode is my favorite so far honestly
I'm not the biggest Ukitake fan, but I loved how much more he was given and explored, especially with Shunsui also Chair-sama with his sidekick Aizen back to pity some fools
Not only has these last three episodes been heavy with anime-original content, the order sequence between chapters has been all over the place. Not even as a manga reader I know how things will play out going forward.
[Tidbits & Clarifications] - Not all souls in the Soul Society come from the world of living. These worlds need to be balanced therein when the world was split, there would be natural residents of the Soul Society. People can be born in all 3 worlds, that's how they have noble lineages like the Kuchiki or Shiba. Bleach is a world of cycle, so a soul will always be reborn into 1 of the 3 worlds (depending on the circumstance) (The only exception to this rule is Quincy killing Hollows, that action removes them from the cycle, it's a true death of sorts) - Yes! here we finally get the reveal as to why Captain Ukitake has been sick throughout the entire story (which further shows just how thought out certain plot points in Bleach are). - If you go back to when Aizen is leaving the Soul Society he speaks directly to Ukitake saying “Since The Beginning, no one has ever stood in the heavens, neither you, nor I, not even God himself” which now makes tons of sense seeing as though Jushiro houses part of “God” within himself. (This is also why I believe Wonderweiss immediately aims for Jushiro in Karakura town, as a creation wonderweiss was offensive against those who could be deemed a threat to Aizen’s ambition, but that’s just my theory) - Ukitake mentions “East 76 Rukon District, Sakahone” interestingly enough, in Cour 1 of the TYBW we got to see the Original Gotei 13 Captains, one of which was a devious looking, extremely old man who was the 13th division Captain (same as Ukitake) and his name is “Saizou Sakahone”. - It may seem like a throw away line but it’s important to remember all we learn about the hands. The Left-Hand embodies Evolution, while the Right-Hand embodies Stillness and the Mimihagi deity they worship is the Soul Kings right-hand. - Pay attention to what Yhwach says will ceast to exist, he intentionally named almost every single place in Bleach lore except one “Soul Society, Precipice World, Hueco Mundo and The World of the Living”. - Sidenote: Many aren’t aware of this but both Ukitake & Shunsui are from noble families. They aren’t from the great 5 Noble families but Ukitake is low nobility and Shunsui is high nobility - Sidenote 2: The scene with the gaurd and Aizen is a reminder that Aizen is a transcended being who has a ridiculous amount of Spirtual pressure, most things that come into contact with him will be obliterated. - Sidenote 3: It's been some time so many forget that the "there are two types of battle" line is in reference to what Ukitake tells Rukia when she planned to help Kaien in his fight with Metastacia. [Reposted]
We already saw the left hand of the Soul King in episode 24 of Cour 2. In the flashback scene at the start to be precise. Watch that part again, it's very important. That was when it was first hinted that Yhwach could not see through the Soul King.
As a bleach fan, I love watching your reactions, they're always on point. Also about the content of the episode, the flash back was greatly expanded upon, in the manga it was merely one page. I am so glad that Kubo Sensei and the anime team give us so much more, the story has never felt more alive than now !
Yup one thing about bleach is the originality . It brings cool things that no other manga/anime did especially in shounen genre ,in which obviously lots shounen manga/anime couldn't deviate from repetitive, typical tropes . Also bleach always consistent. Like those Ukitate words "the two battles" are already said to Rukia during flashback of them watching Kaien fight hollow before he died. And this might be a small thing but when Ukitake sparring with Kyoraku , he commented on Kyoraku still not going easy on him eventhough he's sick. This is very inline to Kyoraku's demeanor when he serious in fight, where he even didn't hesitate to fight inhonourable way like what he did to Stark. Lastly I don't know if you both catch it, but a small converse between Unohana and Ukitake might signalling something, where they both will meet somewhere
How do you guys still think everyone in Soul Society is from the human world? Most of the soul reapers were born and raised in Soul Society. How did you think the noble clans worked if they were just humans who had died. You've seen characters age from childhood to adulthood in the story, do you think every child character died young and then grew up in Soul Society?
smartly? its a hood bro. there is no hint as to what it looks like underneath (as far as I remember).... or maybe they did. dont remember. but pretty difficult to discern it unless you are going back and watching it again
I thing this episode give more detail coz in manga it's really fast and we've so confused for respect to ukitake sacrifices himself coz we've got a little he's background. but for me, maybe this episode really better than before and give more emotional and more respect to ukitake, Rest In Peace Ukitake😢
Mimihagi ミミハギ is NOT a real word, nor is it a real name. Therefore, it DOES NOT mean "I, right arm. " The exact origin of ミミハギ is still unknown and unexplained even by Kubo Taito. 右剥ぎ (Migihagi) is believed to be the origin of the fictional name amongst us Japanese.
This might be the last cour for this arc and we might go into the CFYOW novels which are super important, but there is still a lot to cover and if we keep on getting anime original scenes who knows
So the soul king we see at the palace has no limbs and Ukitake has the right arm meaning the other limbs are somewhere else, We could ask where’s the other hand or legs but I want what’s more important… Just like Okarun from Dandadan, where is the Soul Kings 🐔 and 🏀 🏀 ‘s at? Who has them?

He was too devoted to laws, tradition and the status quo to ever take such risks. It's why he refused to even consider letting Orihime heal him after the Arrancar Saga which ultimately led to his death. It's why he stopped training Kenpachi, despite his potential, just because he was ordered to stop. Shunsui is much more open-minded and doesn't put pride above survival. For this I consider Shunsui a much better head captain.
Yamamoto not letting Orihime heal him wasn't what led to his death. Yhwach merely said that Yamamoto refusing to let her heal his arm was emblematic of the bigger problem that led to his death, which was that he was no longer bloodthirsty and willing to exploit others. Yhwach implied that the old Yamamoto would have had no problem using Orihime to heal himself. It didn't really have much to do with the arm itself.
