When they're playing with another band, they often (always?) learn a cover from that band, post it on RUclips, and get members of the other band to join them to play it at the gig.

SLANG is a veteran punk band from Hokkaido. Nemophila was going to play opposite them, so I covered this song as a tribute to them. I've known SLANG for a long time, but I didn't expect them to copy our style XD

Can't get enough of " Punk-ophila"!
Off the top of my head the only covers they have performed live (by themselves) were on their US Seize the Fate tour in the US. Remember that Mayu had just given birth to her son 4 months earlier, so they were instrumentals to give Mayu a break backstage. Definitely Iron Madien instrumentals. I have not been to any of this years Van tour in Japan, or last years Japan tour. Many of the more recent covers were to support the bands they were performing with. They possibly joined those bands on stage for a live collaboration, but I don’t believe a solo cover. Of course I may be wrong.
They've done covers on solo tour in Japan. Latter part of 2023 and early this year, for instance, they covered "Sugar" by System of a Down and "sic" by Slipknot at least a couple times each at "one-man" shows, also "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden. Maybe more but don't have time to check now.
@@otobokegaijin6218 Thank you for the knowledge. I figured you would know better than I. Did they also perform any songs together with those bands? I’ve only attended one man shows and honestly haven’t watched any of my Blu-Rays yet. I purchase them to support the artists, but I’m always traveling. Thank you.
When I saw them in San Francisco, they did like a medley of 4 or 5 cover tunes; Motley Crue, KISS, and Iron Maiden, plus a couple of other bands. About a minute or so from each band.

These covers are made cause they performed with these bands in ”Battle Of Bands” just this month. They have been in studio also, so new music is coming

Japanese punk rock is definitely different from American punk rock, you should check out the original Japanese punk rock band Hide (he-day) with spread beaver, I'd start with "tell me" live 1996 , by the way Hide was one of the guitarists from X Japan 🤘
The SLANG song is just dynamite. The HERO COMPLEX song is not my cup of tea either, but I mean, who do not want to look at and listen to Nemophila? They kill everything.
