So can you confirm that the Razer blade 15 has Nvidia optimus on the base model and that its not limited to the advance model? i heard from someone that the Nvidia optimus is limited to the advance model for some reason but your review makes it seem like the base model has it too
Hi Lisa, Thanks for posting this video. I have to tell you this though, hope you can give me some feedback, would love your opinion: i bought the Razer Blade 15" Base model in December 2019 after about 2 months of research online. I had been using Apple for over 10 years for graphic design, photography and video editing, but because of crazy prices and lack of possibilities to upgrade a Mac, i decided to buy the Razer Blade for working remotely. Took the Razer Blade on a trip to Bali and 3 weeks later, while still in Bali, it stop letting me charge it. Ir became a crazy nightmare especially because of Covid19 and trying to get in touch with an agent in Razer, but I finally did, customer service has been very supporting and they sent me a new charger, unfortunately, i plugged it in and it didn't work, so the problem was not the charger. Now, after many months of back and forward, they are going to help me replacing the unit with a new one, however, i don't feel like I trust the machine anymore, and I'm thinking about selling the new one they will send and buying an Apple, so my question is: have you heard of many people having issues with the quality of the Razer Blade? It doesn't seem to be a reliable machine to me anymore, plus, i have seen a few forums with people complaining about similar battery issues, so your thoughts and experience will be highly appreciated. Cheers for your great content, keep it up and Thanks!
@@BankruptGreek relevance? my laptop is 2 years old and has thunderbolt. literally never used it. most people wont unless theyre forced into dongle hell
Different They could always use a separate controller like Intel laptops before coffeelake. Ryzen desktop boards have Thunderbolt 3, no reason high end ryzen laptops can’t have it too
Brad Haines I think he means that since Razer has the Razer Core as a product which uses Thunderbolt to connect to eGPUs, it would be weird to use Ryzen chips.
I received my razer blade 15 4k oled rtx 2070 max q silver on 2020 June for like 3k bucks. With excitement I opened the package and the first impression on its aluminum surface finish is not pleasant by comparison to the macbook I owned years ago. At that moment I started to fell hesitate to justify my purchases is whether a good one. Then I plugged the cable with awkward looking adapter to the laptop. And it did not light up! After investigation I noticed the cable to the adapter is probably loosely connected despite all the way in. So I gave it little more push to the adapter and it worked . At this moment I thought it is perhaps an engineering flaws? So the laptop worked fine until now. After just one month of usage, The adapter died yesterday. Sigh, after years of using different laptops, this is the first time ever of having power adapter issue on laptop. The last time I had a problem with adapter is losing one accidentally on my lenovo. Now I am sill waiting inline for their customer support to pick up my call, I do not even know if they would pick up my call today, because it already is like 30 minutes waiting. I do not know if they can ship me another adapter or there would be another tech issue happening in the recent future. My conclusion is that I may not going to buy anything from razer again. Everything I purchased from them are all kinda wibbly wobbly.
I'm still running the Asus Strix gl502 You recomended several years ago. Looking to upgrade and currently thinking either Razer blade Advanced, or Asus Duo 15.
Would you recommend this for an architecture/design student? I use rendering programs and I'm looking for a good laptop that lasts for more than 3 years
I just ended up buying one for architecture as Best Buy had a nice discount on the 2070 model with the 4k OLED. It still was a little pricey but it was only 100-150 more than the other laptop I was eyeing, and the specs were the same. I think it will do a good job but I would suggest getting insurance on it, there is a reputation for razer laptops not being the best for longevity.
I’m looking for a a great gaming computer with a max price around $1800, This computer is one of my final options but it’s very difficult to find the RESPONSE TIME on these gaming laptops. I’m definitely one that notices that type of stuff so I was curious what the response time was for the Razer blade 15- RTX2060 version
Hi Lisa will you be reviewing the advanced model? Really also wanted to know how the 300hz panel is in terms of colour accuracy. Otherwise I may wait for these to hopefully update later with the 4k 120hz 15.6inch panels coming through (such as the new hp omen 15)
Razer will likely get us the Advanced model. Next up from them will be the Blade Pro 17. They factory calibrate the displays, so I'd expect color accuracy to be good, with a similar full sRGB gamut and 75% Adobe RGB as this 144Hz panel.
Am saving up for this computer but I seen videos of people saying it crashes the keys break it stops charging now I don’t know if I should change my mind on this laptop
I just picked this laptop up from Best Buy a couple days ago. The box says "2060 Max-Q." However, running benchmarks the GPU pulls over 80 watts. There is no way this is a max-q card. It's very strange... even when I check task manager... it just says RTX 2060. I just find it weird the Razer Box says RTX 2060 Max-Q. lol
I think the Razer Blade 15 is an interesting machine, but I'm still hesitant to put money towards one after seeing so many reports of QC problems, particularly with the battery bloating, after 1 year of use or so. The Razer subreddit is full of people complaining about their Blades failing within the 2-year mark. It's unfortunate because the design is compelling.
@@WinrichNaujoks I thought about that. But I've also ready complaints on the Razer subreddit about Amazon redirecting people to Razer with their problems. I don't have any personal experience with Amazon, but what I've read (assuming it's true) sketches me out.
You have to keep in mind that there are going to be bad experiences with all products no matter what it is but when you go online to research a product you're going to come across a lot more negative reviews than positive ones because most of the time the people who have bad experiences will go online to bitch about it.
I have the 2019 base model and it is as you say audible when not doing much, and I alomst cant stand it. It's sad because I really like it otherwise. Please someone tell me if you find a workaround that will make it quiet when just browsing the web or watching a video. Turning down brightness, refresh rate, undervolting, anything please I just want it to be quiiet.
How did you get an "Advanced" model? Their site only has this base model for sale. That's common for non-Apple laptops. They advertise high end panels like OLED but try to buy one and you discover it's vaporware.
Hi Alonzo. I have it and I like it very much. It is quick and responsive. I got it last year with the 24 payment plan for a total 250.00. For 500.00 full price, it is good. For the 250.00 it is excellent. :) I have never tried any of the mods for it though. Maybe someday.
@@Stephen_A. the speaker was pretty serious when i had it, not sure how much it changed since the z2 though. all of the mods make it sadly a bad deal. any battery makes it too fat, most everything else makes it too big and/or too heavy and tend to drain the battery. theyre also over priced. the phone itself was decent, i had the first z force the screen didnt shatter, but the rest if it did lol. dont drop test it, doesnt go well
Great review, as always. However, it’s not the time for gaming laptop purchases. Intel CPUs and current gen Nvidia GPUs have poor performance per watts. Once 7nm Ampere/RDNA2 comes packaged with Renoir, truly mobile gaming and mobile 3D content creation will come closer to a reality without loud fans and a wall socket nearby.

Hope you can review Zephyrus Duo when it come out. I love the previous Zenbook Pro Duo review.
Damn this will be more useful than the Lenovo. I'm a network engineer and I'm looking into getting this Laptop.
I bought last years model and its great but the only downside of it, it lasts 2 hours on a full charge. So far 1 year in its great.
I wonder how those the Razer blade with the 2070 Max Q version compares in terms of performances and price against the MSI GS 66 Stealth (2070 Max Q) and the Aorus 15 G (2070 super). Those 3 laptops are for the same customers and in the same price range. I know that they don't have the same performances but I don't know in what extent is the difference.
Apologies, need advice. Between the blade 15 base model, asus strix g15 512, acer predator helios 300 all i7 gen 10 and rtx 2060s, which should i get?
So they took out the 2.5 inch SATA drive connector for the 2020 model? You can only upgrade to M.2 SDD?
Are there any reliability issues with the RazerBlade?
So can you confirm that the Razer blade 15 has Nvidia optimus on the base model and that its not limited to the advance model? i heard from someone that the Nvidia optimus is limited to the advance model for some reason but your review makes it seem like the base model has it too
Is the RTX2060 model significantly better to pay $200 more?
Do you recommend buying this computer before a 16 inch MacBook Pro? I'm a designer but I want to use it sometimes to stream.
Just buy the Macbook. That's the best laptop available to buy.
This is good of you need the GPU power. The 16 inch MacBook pro will not be able to game at proper FPS without an external gpu.
If you want a MacBook buy the white Mercury advanced model,. Will look like one but with power of a gaming laptop.
Go for 2019 advanced !
I personally really like this laptop and would like to buy it. But razer has poor support and there are so many defective units.
Im a little confused when people say this. If you buy it from Best Buy and get a warranty you can just take it into the store they will fix it.
@@markchavez738 yes thats true and maybe you will get off with an better deal then if you would buy it directly from razer
Not good i was looking at one am still happy with 2014 mbp but it has that bad staining on screen
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for posting this video.
An AMD Ryzen in there would've made it an perfect laptop!
can't support thunderbolt with AMD
So close to my perfect laptop. Take out the discrete GPU and put in a Ryzen processor this will make it slightly thinner and more lightweight. SOLD!
But that would make it harder to cool as there would be less room to decipate the heat.
@@satnav1980 🤦♂️
I'm still running the Asus Strix gl502 You recomended several years ago. Looking to upgrade and currently thinking either Razer blade Advanced, or Asus Duo 15.
is it a good deal in 2021??
yes
How is the cooling with the lid closed? I want to use it mostly docked to a monitor and peripherals.
@@jonathangallegos1728 Thank you
I’m looking for a a great gaming computer with a max price around $1800, This computer is one of my final options but it’s very difficult to find the RESPONSE TIME on these gaming laptops.
@@mobiletechreview sounds good. thanks so much for replying you are truly amazing
Will you have an opportunity to review the updated version of the Razer Blade Studio Edition?
Does the base model support Razer Core?
Can't wait for your 15in spectre x360 review ^-^
Am saving up for this computer but I seen videos of people saying it crashes the keys break it stops charging now I don’t know if I should change my mind on this laptop
I just picked this laptop up from Best Buy a couple days ago. The box says "2060 Max-Q." However, running benchmarks the GPU pulls over 80 watts. There is no way this is a max-q card. It's very strange... even when I check task manager... it just says RTX 2060. I just find it weird the Razer Box says RTX 2060 Max-Q. lol
Great review
Why do you do your battery tests at such a low brightness? Doesn't seem very realistic!
Sorry, tell me please, does it have US or EU plug, if bought in US?
Are you going to review the advance model soon?
I think the Razer Blade 15 is an interesting machine, but I'm still hesitant to put money towards one after seeing so many reports of QC problems, particularly with the battery bloating, after 1 year of use or so. The Razer subreddit is full of people complaining about their Blades failing within the 2-year mark. It's unfortunate because the design is compelling.
Amazon and extended warranty. Bam.
Haven't had bad experience yet , reaching 2 year mark next march.
Why is there so much extra space on the left of the battery?
Ryzen?
Why are you so good at this
I bought the 1660ti model and the extra 500 dollars just for the Razer name and terrible thermals (100c+ in older games) made me send it back.
How did you get an "Advanced" model? Their site only has this base model for sale. That's common for non-Apple laptops. They advertise high end panels like OLED but try to buy one and you discover it's vaporware.
It's in the selections of GPU's. When you click RTX 2070, for example, it switches to advanced.
Hey Lisa is the Motorola Moto z4 from Verizon a good phone
Hi Alonzo. I have it and I like it very much. It is quick and responsive. I got it last year with the 24 payment plan for a total 250.00. For 500.00 full price, it is good. For the 250.00 it is excellent. :) I have never tried any of the mods for it though. Maybe someday.
@@Stephen_A. the speaker was pretty serious when i had it, not sure how much it changed since the z2 though. all of the mods make it sadly a bad deal. any battery makes it too fat, most everything else makes it too big and/or too heavy and tend to drain the battery. theyre also over priced. the phone itself was decent, i had the first z force
the screen didnt shatter, but the rest if it did lol. dont drop test it, doesnt go well
Is it virtual reality compatible
Is overheat an issue in this device?
Great review, as always. However, it’s not the time for gaming laptop purchases. Intel CPUs and current gen Nvidia GPUs have poor performance per watts. Once 7nm Ampere/RDNA2 comes packaged with Renoir, truly mobile gaming and mobile 3D content creation will come closer to a reality without loud fans and a wall socket nearby.
Just waiting for a model with a 1080p touchscreen.
But what to buy when you want a quieter laptop than razer's?
my razer blade laptop seems to have a blank screen problem where the keyboard lights up but not the screen
idk why people hate the snake logo i like it
Would this be a good editing laptop for videos?
I’m too confused on which i should get Macbook pro 16 or the razer blade 😅
Not a hardcore gamer but i love playing games and mostly enjoy watching movies and youtube
Help !
Which did you buy
