For the shape from 4:30 I got the right value but a different way, instead of making it up by adding a triangle , I just divided the shape into a rectangle and a sideways-trapezium. The paralell sides will become a & b and the height is 8-5=3cm.(8is the original length minus 5which is the length of the rectangle on the left leaves us with the 3 that we can use as height.) :)
