I think it's interesting that her dream is about a rock concert that can't be heard; is the whole movie about the performances we give in everyday life that somehow fall on deaf ears? What are we saying, or trying to say, with our clothes, that even those closest to us are ignoring, or simply can't understand? It's a wonderful little movie. (Not sure the jacket is real fur, btw--Prada is great with synthetics.)
I can't believe people comment mostly about Polanski's old scandal which as well might had been invented by journalists and over-reacting mother. I am a fan of Prada and Polanski's work so that's a great mixture. Well done.
She admitted herself it's been blown out of proportions and it wasn't something that inflicted harm on her for a lifetime, this speaks for itself. Instead of peing prosecuted for the actual harm he's done he was being prosecuted for what everyone else wanted, as if they were there with them when it happened. Here's a fact: "The probation report submitted to the court concluded by saying that there was evidence "that the victim was not only physically mature, but willing.""
That just makes it even more f*cked up. Do you think it's acceptable for a man to drug a 13 year old model and do what he did to her, irregardless of how she has processed this event? He was and still is a powerful industry figure - I find it staggering that anyone can still argue his case.
I heard that it's not a commercial actually but a short film sponserd by "PRADA" that was screened before full features films in Caan festival, and it's actually a movie that criticize the fashion industry. anyone heard that aswell ?

Prada is all about about mixing in and reworking unusual materials that might be considered cheap or ugly with very luxurious ones and making them desirable. They've even used plastic and even their classic nylon bags are an example of that, turning something mundane into something luxurious.
I'm Polish, and i am proud that Roman Polański is a Pole. That scandal happend over 30 year ago, and only 'cos young girl wanted to be an actress, and went to bed with famous director.
