Outrun, Afterburner, Hang-On, Space Harrier.... Generally everyone likes at least one of those 4. Despite being later on in the arcade golden age, they are now considered some of the Sega ultimate classics.
The shaker motor is super violent, so the horizontal pot would have been built strong enough to withstand that. It must have taken some major effort to break it :(
I don't remember if I playing this on the arcade, I think I might have played it once in the arcades in Puerto Rico my home town. But just watching John Connor play this game in the Terminator 2 movie it just looks bad Ass. Would love to get me a cabinet of this game

All the Time Outs in Puerto Rico had one of the two Afterburners, that is the stand-up play cabinet or the one with the seat cubicle. Plaza Las Américas had it for some time the one with the moving cubicle as if you were flying the real thing, it would be equivalent today to the 4D Cinemas. Additional from the Time Outs, a lot of mini markets, billiard rooms, pizza shops, etc in Puerto Rico had Afterburner too.
Thanks mate, it needs some cosmetic touch up's to get it really nice... but it's getting there now at last! I think you are about right there. At least 85% time fixing. I tend to buy broken stuff that other people don't want to touch as I enjoy going through the restoration process, but sometimes there is just too much work to do
At NERG, it lasted most of Saturday until I found you couldn't go left or right, on opening it up, the horizontal pot had sheered off. If i'd had a spare it would have been working Sunday

You've got to love the time when all the big movies had an arcade scene in them. Not very often anymore :(
One of my favorite video games of all time. Thanks for posting.
Awesome game would love to have one of that cabinet.

It's certainly a very popular game still :)
I didn't realise quite how popular it was until I started posting vids of mine and getting alot of comments.
I remember this back when I was not a TOP G, great memories. Thank You;)

I'd personally really love to have an Outrun cabinet, but this is a close second. It's that Yu Suzuki magic I guess.
I have never checked, but it would be more than a board swap, I suspect you would need to create an adapter loom for it at the very least

....music. It's one of my fav soundtracks around. On a slightly different note, would this run a Space Harrier pcb with a board swap?
No it would not. Only Thunderblade would be a direct swap.
Cheers my friend. Good luck with your badlands. That is a good game!
Gotta love level fours
Awesome!!!
Yes level hours music is EPIC :)
Adrenaline rush game :-)
If it's an after burner arcade machine, why is it after burner ii?
After Burner 2 has the throttle control on the left side of the control panel, which is what this is
Ah, okay. Does the original after burner use this cabinet too?
