Pure frustration on that surfing 8 red coins shine is finally getting all of them on one pass and then running into the pier and dying when trying to reach the shine.
Fun fact, the bloopers' colors indicate how easy it is to handle the blooper! Green is slowest and easiest to turn whereas the purple one goes fast and is more difficult to control (and yellow is in-between). However, if you push forward while riding the green blooper you will reach the same max speed as all the other ones. In addition to that, if you don't touch the control stick at all and run into an obstacle you won't die! That's why Mal survived running into some boats on her last run. TLDR: Green blooper best blooper.
One of the more refreshing aspects of this playthrough compared to many others on RUclips is that you actually take the time to talk with a bunch of NPCs. You don't see that very often, so it's been pretty interesting to find out what these fellas have to say.
Yeah, I generally don't talk to them much either. Which in retrospect makes this game that much more unique as there are actual living things there to talk to.
@@xJC4Rx : Piantas are one of the most notable additions to the Mario universe that actually stuck around. Lots of other critters and characters have come and gone, including the Noki which were also added in this game but apparently weren't interesting enough to use again. I don't think I've seen them in another game yet, though I haven't seen much of Odyssey.
"You gonna throw your slipper?" Alright, that got me. It shouldn't have hit as hard as it did, but that got me. I TOTALLY imagine a Pianta doing that to fight. And yes, I know the reference.
It's pretty easy with the Green squid, a lot of people want to use the faster squids and they kill you easier. They basically only good for the time trail race or goofing off.
Having grown up with this game and playing it many many times, it really is interesting to see how someone new deals with the movement. Like I initially get frustrated watching Mal, but when I think about it, it really isnt easy as far as Mario games go
When pulling the mouth you can let go the moment Gooper Blooper's eyes turn pink instead of pulling all the way! Also if you can manage it you don't need to pull the tentacles and can go straight for the mouth!
I'm sure you guys have figured it out by now, since these are recorded ahead of time, but when you're on a grate, "A" hits when you're hanging from the ceiling, while "B" hits when you're climbing on the side. It's caused me MANY a death as a kid.
little fun fact, even if its not relevant anymore since I believe this is the last time you fight gooper blooper, but if you time it just right, you can pull his mouth with all 4 tentacles in tact. I personally do that all time and it's satisfying to a degree as well
This is true. I have not nailed that timing too often, so I generally prefer to just remove the inner tentacles. Those two outer tentacles can't do much when you're pulling his nose
The grate controls make sense. Think about what would happen if you tried to jump while on a grate. If you're on the side, you'd jump off. If you're hanging from the bottom, you'd try to go up and hit the grate, so you punch up instead.
They fought Gooper Blooper all three times already and ripped all of the man's arms off every single time. I think Stephen and Mal are the real monsters.
You guys didn't talk to big daddy blooper surfer the first time. But each blooper color shows how fast they are. Green is the slowest, yellow middle and red/pruple is the fastest blooper.
I think there's only one or two more instances where this information would be relevant, but... the surfable Bloopers all have different speeds & handlings. The green one is the slowest & has the best turning, the red/purple one has the fastest speed & worst turning, and the yellow one is middle-of-the-road. Super-glad to see Mal nail the Blooper-surfing red coins so quickly! Pretty sure that one is infamous for its difficulty.
I can see Mal's skills have improved a lot faster here than in Mario 64, though maybe it's related to that experience (or Odyssey). But particularly being savvy with hover. Also, fun fact: the different colour Bloopers have different steering. Purple is the worst, green is the best.
when you're climbing on them they switch yeah, it's B to punch/flip a panel and A to jump off. makes no sense and is generally confusing for new players every single time.
In a weird way though, Sunshine is the easiest game when it comes to health. No other Mario game gives you 8 hits 64 had 8 wedges yes, but you took damage in increments of 2-4
