    You absolutely can access bothe the card and the internal memory through the USB-C cord. This is how I always download the files from camera direct to LightRoom. Plug in, download, charge at the same time. Never open the battery door. Especially good while traveling. Use the same phone cord I always have with me anyway.

      It doesn't automatically show up as a volume/drive when using a Mac like it does with a PC. So even though Lightroom can import from the M11 on the Mac, Capture One looks for an attached volume and can't see one. I'd have to install Android Transfer to get the M11 volume to show, but no way I'm installing a jank 3rd party app like that. I'm fine with using the SD card since my MacBook Pro M1 Max has the SD slot. For me, that's easier than using the cable anyway. I'm also less likely to forget the cable is attached to the M11 and accidentally pull it off onto the floor, lol.

      @@settingofthesuns macOS comes with Image Capture, which is the way you can download files from MTP devices like the M11

      @@summarity Thanks, but I think it's still simpler for me to just use the SD card. But I'll keep that in mind should I forget my SD card and only have the images on the internal memory.

    Match Technical does make a black paint thumb support (the one for the M10-R BP works fine).

    Congrats on the GBP-M11! I originally put my name down for one at my local shop when it was first announced, however in the short amount of time I was waiting, I decided to go with the M11-D. I was looking for something to replace my M6, as film is getting expensive and will continue to go up, and the M11-D looked like the best option to retaining that same analog experience with the convenience and attitude of digital files. Still though, I love the look of the glossy black. Enjoy it!

    btw, original m6 does not have brass top, and weighs closer to regular black m11. So I'm not sure why you feel the bp m11 feels closer to m6.

    • @MarcAdesso

      Weight wise, that might be true, but feel/build quality-wise, for some reason I still think the BP version feels more like the film cameras. Maybe a better comparison would have been the MP!

    Congrats on the new cam! I want one to match my MP. Nice video & nice shirt by the way. I used to work there!

    You didn't mention the elephant in the room: the baseplate is not made from brass, but from aluminium.

    • @settingofthesuns
      @settingofthesuns 6 дней назад +2

      Leica says the baseplate is indeed brass. It's written in two places on the main product page for it on the Leica USA online store - once in the description and once in the bullet points below it.

      @@settingofthesuns yes, that’s correct- both are brass, the OP is wrong.

      @@webersteve1547 Silver M11 has a brass bottom plate, and the gloss black M11 inherits it. When the M11 first came out, there was some confusion about the silver bottom plate material, but it was later cleared up. It has a brass bottom plate.

      @settingofthesuns love to hear that. Just got my m11 bp today. I won't scratch it to check, but it feels considerable lighter than my m10r. Thank you all for your input

    USB-C charging with no external charger is a new EU requirement. Leica is not being cheap it is a compliance issue.

    • @MarcAdesso
      @MarcAdesso  7 дней назад

      Where did you read/see that? I don't think that is totally true/correct for a couple of reasons: 1) The EU regulation I've seen was for the device itself- the camera can indeed charge w/o the need for a charger. 2) I am in the USA, and this was a USA, not EU model, shipped from their NJ facility. They could easily make packaging that would include the charger (which they still sell separately) in the US, and exclude it in the EU. 3) My understanding of why many manufacturers are excluding chargers has to do with environmental and economic reasons- the shipping cost (and gas/fuel spend) drops substantially when you take the weight of chargers out of the box. But I think Leica as a premium brand, charging premium prices, should find other ways to be green than omitting accessories.

      @@MarcAdesso Leica doesn't divide out its products by just the U.S. The ones for the U.S. are shared across the EU and Canada. There's also a model specific to Japan, then another for "ROW" (rest of the world). Unfortunately, those of us in the U.S. are affected by the EU regulations for this reason.

    • @MarcAdesso
      @MarcAdesso  6 дней назад

      @@settingofthesuns Absent a credible source or regulation citation, I think you are confused about what the EU common charger regulations mean (single-market-economy.ec.europa.eu/sectors/electrical-and-electronic-engineering-industries-eei/radio-equipment-directive-red/one-common-charging-solution-all_en). Those regulations require that iPhones, cameras, etc. all use a common charging standard (i.e., USB-C). So consumers actually benefit from those regulations. Manufacturers are eliminating chargers for environmental reasons, or I think in reality, cost-cutting in the name of waste reduction. Here's a good, short article explaining the difference: lawschoolpolicyreview.com/2023/01/03/phasing-out-multiple-chargers-addressing-the-elephant-in-the-room/#:~:text=Several%20smartphone%20companies%20have%20adopted,when%20it%20introduced%20Galaxy%2021.

      @settingofthesuns 5 дней назад

      @@MarcAdesso I read that the law also includes/requires "unbundling" of the device and the charger so that the consumer makes the choice.
