It took 8 months for my swelling to completely resolve. Now I am seeing the true results of the surgery and fortunately I’ve had a good outcome. I did however have anxiety expecting the swelling to settle much quicker than it really did.
It has been a year since my facelift and my face looks great. I am pretty happy with it. The only two negatives is that he charged me for a lower blepharoplasty and we really never talked about it before the surgery. When I was signing the release I questioned the blepharoplasty because we never discussed it. The surgeon wasn't even there but whoever was said I was a 1 on a scale of 1-4 so I could skip it. I really didn't have time to think about it. So after the surgery my lower lids were swollen and my eyes were a wreck and he said that I wouldn't get much of a result because when he "got in there" he was "underwhelmed" by the amount of fat to remove. Ironically now they bulge and didn't before. It is annoying. Plus it cost me thousands. The second thing is my right ear lobe which had detached after the surgery. Eventually he stitched it back down but it is still red a year later. It is my right ear, and I do often sleep on my right but it wouldn't account for the consistent redness. It is almost purple really and it is all day everyday no matter what I do. I worry it doesn't have enough blood flow and I will lose it.
Hi Pippa Dawg, Sorry to hear about your problem. While a new video for the ears after facelift surgery will be coming soon, I do have these older videos that can give you some guidance with the issue: ruclips.net/video/R815rRa_my0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/GHNUpEjdwdE/видео.html ruclips.net/video/j9qvDpPiQ50/видео.html As for your lower eyelids, a bulge a year after surgery is very unusual, so I don't have any videos about it. An examination is needed before I can give you specific advice or recommend treatment for your ear, and your lower eyelids. I hope this helps you.
Unfortunatelly, not all the Doctors remains conected to their patiens after the surgery. They follow up once and that’s all, you need to send pictures and they put diagnostics from the pictures, even the most experienced ones. That is very frustrating!
Hi M E London! , I'm sorry to hear you have experienced that. We do regular follow ups with our patients, even for non-surgical procedures, so I hope that gives you some hope. Lack of follow up is usually from high patient volume practices who charge less for procedures, and they need to make up the lost revenue by seeing more new patients, instead of spending time in follow up with existing patients. I hope this helps you.
I had a lower lift 1.4 years ago and i am still firm along the sides of my jawline and my face is ROUND...i was clear i wanted my chiseled face to remain and i was told it would be more chiseled. my face has changed for the worse....it's not as elongated , i have horrible stitches along the neck that SHOW which defeats the intent and its horrible. I find 1.4 years a LONG TIME and am worried about it...i'm also worried how old i will look once this goes down IF it ever does....it's a mental challenge going thru all the changes this long still not knowing the end result. Wish I would have went with you. I plan to move to the NJ area...I will next time.
Hi@@Jhdhdhkmb, Sorry to hear about your problem. I suggest you follow up with your surgeon to determine the cause. If your surgeon is not responsive, you do need to be examined by another experienced surgeon for a proper second opinion. I hope this helps you.
Hi Loralie Long, Yes, facelift and neck lift, or neck lift patients may need a compression bandage after surgery, depending on the case. It may be needed for 1-2 days after surgery, but this also varies with the individual patient, and the extensiveness of their procedure. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Farkhondeh Fari, I suggest you follow up with your surgeon first, if you haven't already, as pictures are limited with the details of how your surgery was done, and the details of your internal anatomy that were factored into your surgery can't be seen in pictures. A physical examination, along with the medical records of your surgery are needed for a proper second opinion. I hope this helps you.
Docter please help me I had a bsso surgery in October 2019, left side wisdom tooth is also extracted and that tooth space is pocket is formed and got infection in it it's almost healed but my cheek is still swollen it can't go to my docter due to corona plz help
Hi Athira Chinju, Sorry to hear about your problem, but oral surgery is not my specialty. I suggest you arrange a virtual consultation with your performing surgeon if you are concerned about the pandemic. Although it does not replace a physical examination, they do know details of your surgery that I am unaware of. I hope this helps you.
Hi ReliableHumour, A lymphatic massage where fluid from facial swelling is pushed to the lymphatic system can help with swelling, but it is a temporary solution. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi, I and 6 weeks out of Smas loft and fat transfer. My face looks wider and the sides of my face are still quite hard. It starts at the right of my eye and runs down to My jaw Is this swelling? My face looks distorted as the sides are wider. I’m so worried as I have lost the definition of my cheekbones. I would be so grateful for your advice. Kind regards
Hi Lisa Ryder, Sorry to hear that, but I would have to see your results, as well as your medical records of your surgery before giving you specific recommendations or opinions. I suggest you follow up with your surgeon for any issues as they know the details of your surgery, just as I am available to my patients for any concerns they have after their procedures. I hope this helps you.
I hate the way this doctor puts it back on the patient saying that she selected a well qualified surgeon. Will let me tell you, Dr., as patients and Lane men in the field outside of surgery. We have no way of knowing if that surgeon is good or not why don’t you tell us how to investigate to see if a surgeon is well qualified because other than looking at their Glorified after pictures that may be airbrushed. We have no way of knowing if that doctor is qualified or not this is coming from a person who is recently botched from a facelift, so tell me how to go about doing this the right way for the next time instead of assuming that we should know it’s not our job to know who is good and bad just like it’s not your job to know my job
Hi Poster Child, Before you use strong words, you can see how I've tried to inform the public about facelifts, so they can make better decisions before undergoing a major surgery. Here are the videos I made in the past about how to choose a facelift surgeon, the right age for a facelift, what affects the longevity of facelift results, what affects facelift recovery time, and facelift factors for people with more advanced facial aging, for your reference: ruclips.net/video/3HaaaQbRwvE/видео.html ruclips.net/video/RWDNY36QQls/видео.html ruclips.net/video/ZNQ3B9c_hjE/видео.html ruclips.net/video/viE5AO3MYMU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/mXTZMd2StiI/видео.html

Sorry to hear that, AC. An examination can determine if certain aspects of your procedure can be revised. I hope this helps you.
I have the same problem… im 10 months after surgery and still have a round face….

Do you have your clients wear a neck compression garment after neck lift? If so for how long?
Hi Loralie Long,
Yes, facelift and neck lift, or neck lift patients may need a compression bandage after surgery, depending on the case. It may be needed for 1-2 days after surgery, but this also varies with the individual patient, and the extensiveness of their procedure. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Would steroid injections ever help this ??
Hi MrStubbs75,
Possibly, but an examination is needed before recommending specific treatments, especially when it comes to steroids and other prescription drugs. I hope this clarifies things for you.
