I don't think it's the lava which is boiling per se... It technically the moisture in the soil that's boiling and then popping when it reaches sufficient pressure.

The bubbling effect is probably caused by the lava moving over moist soil quickly. When it moves slowly, the moisture in the soil will turn to steam at the leading edge. When it moves quickly, the steam is overtaken and must punch up through the lava to escape. Your channel is amazing! I’ve been watching daily since before the eruption.

Thank you Nina!! It's a relief that Roman can keep working because he can rely on you to produce excellent footage. I look after a 4 year old girl after school on Wednesdays. The first thing she wants is to look at the volcano footage. Just seeing all the different ways the volcano behaves, and the different ways the lava flows, gives us an enormous amount of information. I am basically ignorant about volcanoes, but it seems to my uneducated mind that this wonderful variety of videos will improve our understanding a lot. I hope someone puts together a documentary about this amazing volcano. They should use your work.

No matter how many times I watch your video I am just amazed at the multiple ways this lava continues itself. Such as being this hot and being such a far distance from the actual volcano. Thanks to you for continuing to provide me with a front row seat.

It keeps fluid for a very long distance. The bulk reservoir amply cools down. Wonder how much the big magma chaimber is still filled, or fed in years to come… Thanks for your postings! Top!

The lava flow is popping like popcorn. I watched the eruption last night and this morning and there seems to be a lot more steam and gases coming from the volcano.

I always look at the lava to see if anything has changed in the eruption. It seems strange to go from aa to Pahoehoe and back to aa again. Thank you for your wonderful videos they are very much appreciated and I an learning each day how complex this type of eruption can be and to always be surprised. Stay safe. This is blocky basalt lava. And lots of it, therefore moving much faster. Sadly it destroys the more interesting pahohehoe basalt under it..

A thrill to see (and hear!) the a'a lava flow from 1:30 onward, exactly what most of Oregon's (USA) lava looks like.

Finally I figured it out......with the wind gusts and lava clinking it sounds like glass wind chimes to me....
It is the sound of crystals forming according to a volcanologist I asked.
Amazing how deep the leading edge can be.
