Delightful walk, with all the seasonal ingredients - clear blue skies, plenty of green grass, streams and ponds and a bracing wind. Thank you.

Thank you Malcolm - and that's a great summary of this video! I really enjoyed this walk. It is such a both an unspoilt, and a little known part of the Cotswolds! Take care, Paul.

What more could a person want- on such a lovely day and then walk and enjoy! The cherry on the cake is, you film it for us subscribers and we get to 'walk' with you. Lovely. Thank you so much for this opportunity. Have a great day. 👍🇳🇿🙋‍♀🇳🇱

Thank you! Glad you are enjoying my videos. That's a lovely comment. Yes, these villages are easy to get from Gloucester - probably only a 30 minute drive. I hope you have a lovely enjoyable and safe trip when you come over from Malta to visit your brother in Gloucester later in the year. Take care, Paul.

Couldn't agree more about maps Paul, and even better when you find a new walk that turns out enjoyable. The spring weather makes such a difference.

Hi Mark, yes this one was such a delight to both walk and film! I had not been to the south side of Bredon Hill before (I have made a couple of videos from around the Elmley Castle side) - it is a terrific and genuinely unspoilt area - and also little known - I am not aware of another RUclips walk or exploring video featuring these villages or this part of the Cotswolds at all. Thanks for commenting! Cheers, Paul.

Thanks for showing us this lovely walk. Certainly was a very strong wind blowing, but that added to the interest. Seeing the leaves scurrying along and the branches swaying, plus losing your hat. Beautiful scenery and buildings. 10/10

Thank you so much Lionel & Mary! Yes, when I was filming it, I thought that the wind would totally ruin the sound, but, in retrospect, it added to the atomosphere. Thanks so much, take care, Paul.

Thank you Faith! Glad you enjoyed it! I was lucky with the quality of the light - that always makes a huge difference to photography. I think I said Irises when I meant Crocuses! Yes, there were cyclamen and aconites in flower too, as well as the snowdrops. Thanks so much, take care, Paul.

Oh- I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed that simple walk. Superlatives just don’t cut it. Beautiful photography and worthy of being shown on national TV. ( whilst watching a large fox came into the garden and just seemed to add to the ambience.) The weather helps as well!!

Thank you Diana! That's a lovely comment. From the (very little) mainstream TV that I watch these days, to make the grade onto 'ordinary' TV, you'd have to film it with at least three 'celebrities', and two of them would have to be arguing with each other! Sadly, conflict and darkness appeals to many these days. I try and make my little films away from that sort of world - a sort of escape that appeals to me, and is a comfort too for my autistic mind. I am so glad that my viewers enjoy them too. I really enjoyed this walk, even if the very strong winds made it a little difficult to film. On reflection, the wind noise on my microphone added to the atmosphere a little, I think. Thanks so much, take care, Paul.

Thanks for the quick reply- the BBC were phenomenally successful with a series of documentaries with no sound, no 'personality' just long journeys in the countryside. But they have never taken that concept further- wish they would. Take care too!

    • @westcountrywanderings
      @westcountrywanderings  Год назад

@@dianarolph1770 Yes, I saw some of them on BBC Four - although that formerly excellent tv channel is now sadly going to be scrapped too! They were very well done, and well received, but, no doubt an overpaid manager decided that they weren't edgy enough! As an aside, I have tried a few no commentary, no music, walking videos, but they don't seem to go down as well. I might try the format again in the future now that I have a some more subscribers. It wouldn't be a replacement of, but an addition to, my existing series. Thanks again, Paul.

Hi Paul, gone is the scarf, overcoat and woolly hat, spring is on the way!! Dont tell those snowdrops in the churchyard that there is a cold snap on the way!!
That was a lovely walk, really enjoyed it plenty of interesting details in and amongst the oolite!!.
That boundry stone was very interesting, looks like it has split on the bedding plane I wonder if that was a natural effect or there was a drilled hole helping the fracture on its way. It made me think of the Stonesfield Slate which is in fact limestone and is split using frost action. Its one of the many stories I gleamed from the book The Map that Changed the World.
Interesting to see that pond, or perhaps its a spring in Overbury, cant see where the water comes from or goes to on the OS Map. I'm sure youve found it but historic england uses the OS Map to identify the listed properties I've only just discovered it, what a great resource to have at your finger tips. Its far harder to find things out over here.
Shame the wind made your tripod unstable but the audio was fine the wind added to the atmosphere of the walk.
    Great video, well done!!
    Good luck from Spain!!

Thank you David! Glad you enjoyed my latest video from my Cotswold Walks series - it is such a delightful place and pleasure to film in - and I am always finding somewhere in it that I have not discovered before! Yes, I have used that Historic England resource too - in fact it has led me to couple of places that look well worth exploring and filming that aren't that far from where this video was filmed. I hope to film that soon. Take care, Paul.

Thank you Louise! Glad you enjoyed the video - I really enjoyed this making this one. The quality of the light made the photography and videography what it was. I was concerned that the very windy conditions would completely ruin the sound - but in hindsight it added to the atmosphere, as others have said on here. Yes, the Cotswolds are truly beautiful, and I am very fortunate that these two lovely little villages, which I had not visited before, are only 30 minutes away from where I live. I am sure you'd love visiting the area. Thanks for a lovely comment.

Very enjoyable video Paul, looks a great area for landscape photography which i enjoy. Must take a trip there as its not to far to where i live in Abbeydale near the village of Upton-st-Leonards.

    • @westcountrywanderings

Yes, you must John! It is only a very short drive from there - either M5 Jct 9, or Jct 8, then M50 Jct 1, head to Pershore, then right over Eckington Bridge over the River Avon. It is a great place for landscape photography - just a shame it was a tad too windy on the top to even hold the camera steady. I am suprised, given it is so close to main centres of population like Worcester, Gloucester and Cheltenham why it isn't more known or visited. Shh! It is our Westcountry Wanderings secret! Thank you for your kind comment. Cheers, Paul

Hello Paul - greetings from Poland
What an absolutley fantastic video. A wonderful circular walk through beautiful countryside. How lovely to see that everything is coming alive after the winter. Superb camera work and commentary. I loved your still photographs too.
I was wondering if the Martin Family had anything to do with Martins Bank, which was bought by Barclays in the late 1950s?
Thanks so much for taking me along with you. I really enjoyed myself very much. See you again very soon and stay safe please

Hi Micheal, I was looking at wikipedia entry for Overbury and by chance came across this about the Martin family:
The manor of Overbury was purchased by the banking family of Martin in the 18th century from the Parsons family, members of whom also owned neighbouring Kemerton Court. The Martins rebuilt Overbury Court in c.1740, and it is still occupied by their descendants in 2018.
The Martin bank has a very interesting entry on wikipedia as well.
      All the best!!
PS: I think your OK to go fishing in those ponds!!

@@davidberlanny3308 Thank you for the information David! Both of these villages have a fair bit of history, and they seem to attract wealthier types, as does a lot of the Cotswolds as a whole.

Nice video Paul,as usual. There is a local builders called overbury, I wonder if there's a connection! And is that the Bredon of the poems of A E Housman? Or is that another Bredon?
