@@quamors Even the little ones aren't really safe. If you get bitten, seals in general have some nasty bacteria in their mouths. "Seal finger" is more treatable now but you used to just have to amputate if you were unlucky. With that said it's still dangerous to this day, especially since a lot of people don't tend to get non venomous bites checked out.

If we truly appreciate something, we need to appreciate their space too. Not every animal needs to be petted. Some prefer to be just left alone. Appreciate from a distance that the animal doesn't feel threatened. Just being good humans.

Wild animals are called that for a reason. Always do them a favor and give them plenty of space. You really never know if angry mother is nearby or what that animal will do. Far too often we’re seeing innocent wild animals be put down because tourists get too close and get hurt.

please stay 150 ft away from seals. if you can do a thumbs up and still see them behind your thumb, then you are too close. Being too close to seals causes them distress and to flee to the water. Please respect wildlife

Like it's fucking common sense not to mess with a wild baby animal. Mom seals don't like the come back on their beach to get their pup when there are people around, they will abandon their pups if there are too many predators. Sometimes human scent on their baby is enough to make them abandon it. I'm not just making up 150 feet- it's a law from the The Marine Mammal Protection Act that was set in place in 1972. I know you probably won't even read this, but just fucking respect animals it isn't hard.

I was watching some really blood-curdling VHS horror directly before this, but the second this snowball made that little trill noise I was able to remind myself that I was safe and sound😌
That's a great idea. I protected this one as well. I wish I hadn't cut the filming so fast, but we promptly left the area soon as we realized we were irritating it. I took a drive back to the area the following day and he was still there basking in the sun. I know it looks like I was too close here but trust in that I wouldn't dare hurt this little fella. How could anyone hurt such an animal? Just for some info for you, in my area, during winter there will be ocean ice packed so dense that icebreakers cannot travel the location. And in an area of about a thousand square kilometers, the wildlife departments census of the harp seal puts their numbers at approximately 9,000,000 animals. Aircraft flying over filming, it's almost as if they are spread about like stars in the night sky. 9 million seals in an area about 10 kilometers wide and about 100 kilometers long. Like ants. I do praise you for taking your stance on animal protection as we all should be protecting the creatures that can't fend for themselves. I am genuinely curious why so many people do oppose the sealing fishery though, when on a different aspect, a popular TV show has people throwing large 3 prong hooks over alligators, and ripping into them, so they can pull them in close enough to kill with a low powered gun? Only to harvest it's skin to make designer purses and shoes. Why is this still a television show that people love? Why is there not protests and groups opposing those types of animal killing? I hate seeing it, and to me, the alligator means just as much as the fluffy seal. But humans so some reason, only support conservation of the pretty looking animals and they take a blind eye to the not so cuddly looking ones. Wild animals are called that for a reason. Always do them a favor and give them plenty of space. You really never know if angry mother is nearby or what that animal will do. Far too often we’re seeing innocent wild animals be put down because tourists get too close and get hurt.
They only attack if they're adults, and only if approached. If one approaches you, it's been treated right by humans.
This is a baby seal not a Lion cub. I don't think the mother is going to come maul these guys to death! They wanted to get a good shot of his cute little evolved legs. Plus he's so cute I want to squeeze him!

please stay 150 ft away from seals. if you can do a thumbs up and still see them behind your thumb, then you are too close. Being too close to seals causes them distress and to flee to the water. Please respect wildlife

@@TheHeavyDead420 .....the infant seal is literally trying to get away in the video. It doesn't know what we are besides big weird animals in it's space without it's mother for protection. Like it's fucking common sense not to mess with a wild baby animal. Mom seals don't like the come back on their beach to get their pup when there are people around, they will abandon their pups if there are too many predators. Sometimes human scent on their baby is enough to make them abandon it. I'm not just making up 150 feet- it's a law from the The Marine Mammal Protection Act that was set in place in 1972. I know you probably won't even read this, but just fucking respect animals it isn't hard.

I have now made it my mission to protect every single seal on the earth
That's a great idea. I protected this one as well. I wish I hadn't cut the filming so fast, but we promptly left the area soon as we realized we were irritating it. I took a drive back to the area the following day and he was still there basking in the sun.
I know it looks like I was too close here but trust in that I wouldn't dare hurt this little fella. How could anyone hurt such an animal?
Just for some info for you, in my area, during winter there will be ocean ice packed so dense that icebreakers cannot travel the location. And in an area of about a thousand square kilometers, the wildlife departments census of the harp seal puts their numbers at approximately 9,000,000 animals. Aircraft flying over filming, it's almost as if they are spread about like stars in the night sky. 9 million seals in an area about 10 kilometers wide and about 100 kilometers long. Like ants.
I do praise you for taking your stance on animal protection as we all should be protecting the creatures that can't fend for themselves.
I am genuinely curious why so many people do oppose the sealing fishery though, when on a different aspect, a popular TV show has people throwing large 3 prong hooks over alligators, and ripping into them, so they can pull them in close enough to kill with a low powered gun? Only to harvest it's skin to make designer purses and shoes. Why is this still a television show that people love? Why is there not protests and groups opposing those types of animal killing? I hate seeing it, and to me, the alligator means just as much as the fluffy seal. But humans so some reason, only support conservation of the pretty looking animals and they take a blind eye to the not so cuddly looking ones.
Thanks for watching, and please take comfort knowing I'm a gentle person who would do what I could to protect this animal rather than hurting it.
