mr. chuckle is absolutely right. xt30 is by far, the best bucks apsc compact cameras. it sit in the right market. and it can switch lenses! you can pair it with f2 lenses for compact edc, manual cheap lenses to play around, and even f1.4 lenses for serious work!
As a XT30 owner who is also a university student, I’m glad to hear you say that it’s still a good value camera! Seems like I made the right choice when I bought it second-hand a few months ago while looking for cameras on a budget :)

would love to upgrade my xt30 to the xt50 purely for the 40mp upgrade but its not worth the cost. the xt30ii was just...silly. they should have simply made it the xt40.
The 40MP is nice, but tbh it's a bit overkill and makes your files much bigger. I feel like it's only worth it if you want to regularly print really big.
Fuji clearly didn't want to commit on the R&D budget for the low end of their cameras and just made a refresh. I'm just glad they didn't lie to us and called the X-T30II what it is not.
I honestly wished for the x-t50 that they just gave it the guts of the x-s20, it would have been a much more appealing camera to upgrade to from my x-t30. I don't really see the point of buying an x-t50, without weather sealing and the same old skinny battery, when the x-t5 is only marginally bigger and more expensive.

Can you help me? I cant use the built in flash, i shoot in single shot, mecanical shooter, sound activated but i doesnt flash when i take the photo, it appears an icon of flash but nothing happens! Thanks
The X-T30 is a super nice camera, but I don't know I guess I simply never really vibed with the color science from the X-Trans IV sensor. The X-Trans II was nice but a little too old when it comes to specs, the sweetspot is for me the X-Trans III you can find in cameras like the X-T20 and X-T2. I tried to use an X-T20 as it really looked like a good camera to carry around, small, good sensor ect but MAN the ergos on that thing are really not my thing. I do prety much everything with the viewfinder and the EVF being so small on the X-Tx0 series just makes it kinda horrible to use in my opinion. Not unusable, far from it, simply not enjoyable at all. Same can be said about the control structure : the camera simply lacks stuff that are generally present on other cameras, like oh I don't know, a way to change the ISO without going into a menu and needing to set a custom button for it? Also, I am cursed with big hands, and when I had an X-T20, I had to use it with an additional grip otherwise it would just slip out of my hands. I never handled an X-T30, but it looks to be exactly the same as the X-T20 when it comes to size, EVF ect... except there the Q meny button is in a weird spot and there is no D-pad anymore, removing 4 custom buttons that were badly needed. All of this pushed me to turn myself to the camera that I consider to be the sweetspot for the budget conscious Fujifilm shooter : the X-T2. Larger body which is still compact, lots of buttons, D pad + joystick, ISO dial, LARGE viewfinder and the bonus of the side tilt screen is really nice. Performance wise you don't loose anything besides maybe a slightly less smart AF system which I'll be honest I don't think matters that much. Video is awesome, I bought the vertical grip for it and when attaching it with it and a lens that has OIS the X-T2 turns into a video beast (for the price I mean). The colors are better (to my eye anyway), you still have the same amount of DR, and you don't get higher noise, which is really nice to see. Honestly the X-T2 would be the camera I'd recommend to anyone looking for a Fujifilm camera they'd keep a while. It really stood the test of time on my end.
I just sold my X-T30 (SC-11k) (bought when 1st release) and got the new A6700. And I'm glad that I got the new a6700 coz it's way better in every way. The price-performance ratio is just bad for the X-T30 is 2024. Unless you get a really good deal at used market (the cheapest I can find in my market is 860USD body only). People should look into X-S10 than X-T30, unless you really want to "RETRO" look on X-T30, I would say X-S10 can perform better (with IBIS), especially with the new Viltrox Pro line lenses (very popular amount Fujifilm users), if you have a little more budget and you still want to stick with the FUJIFILM brand, X-S20 is still a good choice. To buy this brand new OLD camera, I would say a BIG NO.
I bought mine two years ago for 590€ from MPB using their student discount as well, which I'd say is a fair price. 860USD does seem pretty steep... The X-S10 is a really good alternative as well tho, if you don't mind the larger camera body.
I own an X-S10 and X-T4, but I know that I will get an X-T30, some day, once I save enough for it (or even an X-T20). The dials experience in this small package is just too tempting.
I owned the xt30 mk1, sold it, and got an xt50, which is great. I'm confused by the a6700 comment as its actually more expensive in the uk than the xt30mkii (£500+) and the xt50 (£100+). I get the Sony af arguments but price point and value?
As a xt30 owner - dont use external presets, instead create your own simulations, that’s like the whole point of owning a fuji camera
While the film simulations are great, the flexibility you get with shooting raw is still much greater, that's why I still use raw most of the time.
Yeah, presets are for Sony. Fujo doesn't need them

I replaced my X100V with an X-T30ii a couple of years ago and have zero regrets! The only thing I don’t like is the Q button, but I reassigned it

Yup, it's hard to justify getting any of the other X-Trans 4 sensor cameras over the X-T30
The X-T30 II also has sligthly better AF too, on par with the X-T4.
