Great review! I would consider them except for the finish. The speakers may not dominate the room because of their size, but they would dominate my room because of their ultra glossy appearance.
You should check out Klipsch The Nines powered monitors. Would be really curious on your thoughts about them and how they compare to other monitors you've heard. They match the heritage sound and the build quality is really nice and for 1500 for a complete system I think they could outperform more expensive systems. The nines have an 8 inch driver making them a pretty legit speaker.
I talked about that a while ago. I own six sets of speakers right now but the Fleetwood were moved on to try new things. Not because of any fault, because it is what I do. I will be moving the Focal's as well here soon to try something else out that I have been wanting to try for over a decade.
with a tweeter like that, and a woofer that large, the crossover point is going to be an issue. the tweeter can't play low enough, and the woofer isn't ideal for playing as high as they have it playing - it starts to beam and has inferior detail and clarity in it's upper register, compared to a smaller driver, like a dedicated midrange or a different kind of tweeter that can play lower. they are beautiful though. but I don't think it's ideal as a design. if the tweeter was horn loaded or in a waveguide (a bigger one, i.e. a real waveguide) it could play lower.
Here's another "by merely looking at it"................... The tweeters are not offset of center. We know today about "edge diffraction" & that's a very simple design flaw they've made. As well, they should be mirrored pairs for a couple other reasons. 🔈🔉🔊
@@TriAmpMyFi pity they didn't think of asking you first, they would've produced a much better speaker. Come to think of it, every speaker manufacturer should submit their design to you before going into production. These engineers, they mean well, but they surely don't possess the technical konwledge that you do...
Dynaudio HS has one of the best soft silk tweeter (Esotar 3) the mid/ bass driver form their $65000 evidence line they have Mondoft’Evo Oil Cap, Van Hul internal cables. Not sure Alexandra speakers pack similar technology. At least packing and delivery was not an issue.
Loud treble isn’t really fatiguing, it’s distorted treble that hurts. Usually it happens when certain frequencies in the recording are louder and the combination of frequencies excites the components and raise distortion. Sometimes the case of upper midrange glare may be from the woofer which usually runs from 10 to 13 kh where it’s interaction with the crossover is at its worst. Even happens with $100. dollar capacitors and the best mid/woofers but it does get better. Nothing is perfect yet.
At my website. I do not do video reviews for everything. The Diablos are some of the best I have heard but not worth $24k with stands. These get close but just have a different vibe.
I have. I love SF speakers and have heard maybe 80% of the models they have made. I even owned the OG EA's. One day after I try as many as I can I will settle down with the set of speakers that I remember most, and SF would be in the running for sure. When I stop doing reviews is when I will settle with a final system.
JUST an FYI for those who are members of my channel. I just posted a sound demo in the members area. That is where all sound demos and first looks go these days. Enjoy and have a fantastic day everyone!
Bookshelf speakers are toys, take the SAME space as real floorstanding speakers Long throw cone drivers (for extra bass) always have more non-linear distortion due to lower efficiency, higher mechanical non-linearities, and air compresses.
Weird comment. Especially when your next one says you want to see a resurgence of "the 8 inch two way." LOL! Beavis and Butthead approve. (just joking, of course)
Far too expensive for a new company that no one knows . If these were £2k then maybe but not 6k usd. Lots of established speaker companies, so why choose these?
At $2k they would be losing money. These sound better than Dynaudio Heritage Specials. These sound better than others I have heard in the $8k range as well. Looks may not be for all, but the sound is not lacking in any way at all.
I have 2 small bits of Indonesian furniture in my games room. Not something for the rest of the house. They must have used fresh wood as over the years it shrank and distorted. I would not spend that much on an Indo product.
Thanks for the review. The 8” woofer look like SB Acoustic Satori . This is quite reputable driver used in other high end speakers.
the drivers are OEM,produced by sinar baja electric and sb acoustic is one of their product
Great review! I would consider them except for the finish. The speakers may not dominate the room because of their size, but they would dominate my room because of their ultra glossy appearance.
Can’t say I’ve heard of them either. That gloss coating is a bit too much for my tastes. Is there a choice of finishes?
Focal is one of, if not the best for imaging and soundstage!
Very musical and one of the best bookshelves that I have owned.
I would love to see a resurgence of the 8 inch two way stand mount. The new Zu DWX stand mounts are a 10 inch two way!
That Guidesman really ties the room together.
When review Harbeth speakers?
When they send me a set to review, if ever.

Did you move on from the Fleetwood speakers?

That's not true at all. They sound rather beautiful without any issue in my room. Nothing inferior about the detail here.
Yet another self appointed specialist, who can judge a speaker by merely looking at it. We're all thouroughly impressed for sure...
Well, the paper cone should help.

I’d love for you to test one of Toid DIY speakers

Where's the Focal Diablo review ?
At my website. I do not do video reviews for everything. The Diablos are some of the best I have heard but not worth $24k with stands. These get close but just have a different vibe.
I don’t like the finish on these at all. They need to look a LOT better, especially at that price.
Great review!
Thank you.
Great Review. Could I ask you what are the stands? Thanks!
Dynaudio stands '
As mentioned in the review they are Dynaudio Stand 6 with the Heritage Special plate.
You really need to hear (in your system) Sonus Faber Electa Amator III or SF Olympica Nova I.

@@HiFiHuff OG EA??
Is it 90db 1m 1watt?
This is a question from an old review. How hot does the Pass Lab int. 250 run?
Not hot at all. Warm.

Why no sound demo's in your reviews anymore....just wondering.
Because every time I did them people ,owned and groaned about them. I even received hate email about it so they are for members only now.
Would love to see you review the wharfdale lintons
Great speakers. Heard them a few times and well worth the money though not as refined as the speakers in this video.
are you going to review that nobsound amp?
Yes indeed.A $180 class A tube integrated. : )
How about a review of the Yamaha NS=5000?

Then you should not have looked.
Way too expensive for an unknown brand
They best some well known brands $7k speakers quite easily.
Disappointed that we have to pay for an audio demo.....they used to be No Charge.
Not digging the high poly finish at all.
I love the high gloss finish

It is one year since you did some photo gear content, have you quit photo ?
Nice
Ultra glossy appearance from your shots...NOPE. 6K ???, sorry buddy not happening. My next set will be an "Open Baffle" which I would like to try.
Rebranded PAIYON.. ? Really
The super glossy finish es no bueno
Too expensive.
Too risky to buy this pair of speaker, I will bleed dry if I plan to let go😅
$6500 Indonesian speaker? No thanks

👏👍🙏❤
Too expensive
No. I would buy the JBL L100 Classics first, for substantially less.
They look like they are made of plastic
