Curious about a couple of things if you wouldn't mind answering? How's the network stability? Would it be ok using this as an always on connection? Welcome to RUclips, very informative. Quick question, do you need to purchase a special Data plan to work in these routers? Or can I just unplug my current phone Sim and put it in if I have unlimited
Hi. Any SIM will technically work, but even if you have unlimited mobile data you may still be prevented from tethering. This would mean you cannot use your current SIM in a router such as this one.
Any phone sim will work in the Uk, problem is you won’t get phone calls while it’s in the router. And no provider will give two sims for one line... need a seperate sim data or data plus calls, both work.
Hey - thanks for the video. I was wondering why you went for that plan as opposed to a regular unlimited data phone SIM like EE or 3? Is it because this technically counts as tethering and their restrictions kick in?

Its because it needs to take an average to calculate your speed thats why. After a couple seconds theirs more data to calculate a correct average. Average being how long it takes per second to send "x" amount of data
the antennas take up most of the room which is why its hollow also you don't really want dense plastic covering the antennas when using high frequencies.
The sim that you used was it a data sim or a phone sim ? I am asking as three do a 5G mobile phone sim for £17 per month. If a phone sim would work in that the savings would be amazing! Most phone sims work in routers as far as I am aware.
I did find it interesting, thank you. Personally, I'm waiting for Vodafone to offer its own 5G router and save up a bit. 3rd party devices are way too expensive. I hope you do more videos. Cheers, mate.
You'd always get better speeds if you get your own router (especially ones with external antenna support). The ones that the network give you are quite cheap from my experience.
There's different types of 5G, the superfast 5g has such a ridiculously short range that it will be limited to people standing next to the tower. The vast majority of us if we are lucky will get the low band 5g signal, which is about 40mb/s in real world terms. So, it will be a bit better than 4g but nowhere near what the hype says. Ultimately for people on phones streaming bandwidth requirements aren't going to increase as watching a 4k video on a small phone screen looks no different to standard HD. The lower pings might make browsing feel a bit snappier. Id call the 5g roll out "a little bit of a speed boost" but nothing more than that. Certainly not worth purposely buying a 5g phone for. Another bonus would be as people move over to 5g the 4g networks will become less congested. So yeah, all rush out and buy 5g phones and get off the 4g networks, I'm sick of 1mb/s 4g!
Probably only get slower now till 6g or till a 5g plus/² upgrade comes along. Untethered 4G modems are faster. Smarty do an unlimited plan for 16 a month cancel anytime
Hiya. I'm shopping around for home fiber broadband right now. Signed up for Sky fibre Broadband and awaiting an engineer visit next week. Dunno if that was a good idea coz I heard of not many good reviews. But I'd like to ask what makes Vodafone different from the likes of BT/EE/Sky/Plusnet? Would you say their broadband is stable and reliable?
A lot of ISPs (internet service providers) like Sky ,BT, Plusnet advertise their service as 'fibre optic'. Although this is somewhat true, it is not real fibre to the home (FTTH/FTTP). The fibre runs to a telephone cabinet in your area and copper wires are run to your house from there. The limit with this sort of technology is typically 100mbps. If you live in an area with 5G coverage I'd highly recommend getting a 5G router and an unlimited data-only sim as you will get faster speeds like the ones seen in this video. 5G is very reliable and if connection to a 5G tower is lost your router will normally failover to a 4G tower. If you are in area with REAL FTTH (available from companies like Hyperoptic, Community fibre, B4RN) that would be another great option. Hope this helps
Thank you for this Video, those speeds are great 👌 We average between 200-222mbps down and 21mbps up on our 200mb Virgin broadband, so your 5G speeds are comparable if not slightly better at times than our Cable connection. Sorry to hear about your cycling accident, I hope you're okay and managed to get your tooth sorted. Happy new year mate, hope this year is a better one for us all😁
If the connection is failing that frequently, that's unacceptable. No wonder he changed over to 5G. Personally, I'd be looking at Vodafone/ CityFiber FTTP if it's available and feasible.
As more and more people adopt 5G as a broadband option, the slower it will become as the bandwidth available and the channels available will be shared with 100's of other users on the same cell.
Interesting to hear after month of use, if VoXi capped your traffic after some time as for my family it is about 15GB a day, so if to consider this as replacement for VM, I'd assume, I will consume about 500 Gbytes a month But I've read all mobile operators cap their unlimited packets after 100Gbytes Otherwise theres is no sense for them sell, as example Vodafone Home Broadband for £60 and data sim with 5G enables for just £32
Need a stable mifi and couldn't find any helpful uk info. Got a voda unlimited max data sim for £23pm on black Friday. Phone tethering is pooh but that is mahoooooosive!

What this router like any drop outs, issues or freezing. Currently on 3UK with 4 sims contracts paying less than £27 a month all on unlimited data plans. Been using my unlimited sims plan in my tplink 4g router since 2019 looking for the upgrade to a 5g router this upcoming christmas. I do get speeds around 50meg in my area all day and night.
My D-link ac1200 4g LTE router is consistently 150mbs with the latest firmware. I'm sure with firmware updates I think the Huawei CPE pro should improve
I don't think so. It looks like you hit your specs maximum. LTE4 is delivering 150Mbps. You should look for the router of LTE cat6 (300Mbps), or higher. But those routers will cost more money as well. It's not a software issue.
good video m8...im just wondering if anyone has the cheaper 4g version of this and running it on a three sim....i live in a rural part of the uk and using a d-link 4g router on a three unlimited data sim and getting 20dl and 6 upload....will this give me better results or is it just wishful thinking? ;-)
You may want to consider checking Huawei B818-263 from Amazon. Obviously if you don't have 5G facility within a few meters, or at least you may guess if your provider set up one for you in the next 2-3 years, you may opt to have something that would make sense.
for Carrier aggregation, I recommend you to buy netgear.. netgear router speeds are great and portable like nighthawk with battery.. where u can connect external antennas... huawei chinese routers are trash dont be fo00led by these money hungry peole who works for chinese.0

@@user-nv6bq7cd5i thanks for the quick reply. Looking to move in Central London and 5G seems to be alright on my phone but I'm still not confident on this thing. Also I'm worried of all the NAT issues. Such a bother that in 2022 in thr middle of London I can't get proper fibre...
@@turbulentFlux I see, you can even check the coverage online for the places that you’re looking to move to. Also if you find it bad you can return it within 14days I think (well with three network).
Obviously I'm not OP but I'd wager that this was a decision made because of coverage - just because one network has 5G in your locality, doesn't mean the others do too.
If it has one 1Gbps Ethernet port (1000Mbps) then they really aren’t expecting to achieve 1.6Gbps. Just like many Wi-fi speeds, what is show in the theoretical limits as set out in standards and not what can actually be achieved in real life.

I've just taken out a 12 month contract on 3 for the 5g hub mobile broadband package, I'm hoping that it's faster than the virgin home broadband already used at my address! I took out this package as I stream and game a lot, and sometimes when there is a few people connected on the house broadband, it slows down substantially, so now I'm on my own connection, it should be all good!

@@Withnail1969 It really isn't 'obvious' there are plastics made specifically to allow 5G to pass through, and products can be designed to have the right plastic in the right places, whilst using other 'premium' materials where it doesn't matter. The "it feels cheap" comment is therefore perfectly valid, as it would have been more than possible to design a product as effective that felt less light and cheap.

Ok guys. Tech expansion. What do you want from your 4/5G router? Carrier aggregation. This parameter is saying to how many network poles your router can reach at the same time. Usually, you'll get bandwidth worth of 20MHz. If you have 2CS, it means you'll have 2*20MHz. More- better ñ Netgear nighthawk m series will have 4 and 5 CA. Therefore they will get "insane" 400+ Mbps download speeds. (I put words insane into words, as 3G standard means you'll have 600mbps download speeds. 4G will give you 1Gbps, 5G will give even more. I really don't remember our of my head now, but read wiki). Therefore 200mbpa for 5G is shit result. It's shit even for 4G. But hey... UK has one of the shittiest internet speeds anyway. +People are too proud of their "ultrafast" 2mbps speeds, that 200mbps over 5G looks like a fantastic speed. Emm... I won't ruin British dreams further. Enough damage is done. So, demand full technical specs when buying 4/5G modem/router. I couldn't find these most valuable specs on tech details on Huawei page. Please look at some 5 minutes videos on how mobile network actually works and what the hell is carrier aggregation. It's very simple, yet vital piece of information.
@@ryanking0011 I have nothing against Britain. I'm against the wrong things. False advertising is one of them. Partially, I see the problem in people such as you. Instead of understanding what's wrong and demanding the right things, you are offended and start defending the whole country. If you slow down for a second and realize that you are misled by companies, including mobile connection ones, you might start seeing things from another perspective. Consumers shall be getting quality services. So far I see quantity with low quality. Why are you doing that? Companies are not going to pay you for that. Moreover - you are dragging low standards even lower, instead of demanding the rise of standards. You see, if everybody will demand quality, companies just may start thinking of delivering it. That would be a win situation for every consumer. I don't care which country companies are using dodgy business practices - UK, India, Hong Kong, or the martians... It shall not exist at all!

We average between 200-222mbps down and 21mbps up on our 200mb Virgin broadband, so your 5G speeds are comparable if not slightly better at times than our Cable connection.
That's why they need to cluster areas up with multiple masts and the amount of Three UK masts I see pop up it seems to be the case.
Thanks sir 👍❤️🥰
Hi, what is the 5G signal level you get in the "find optimal location" tool un the Huawei app?
I get 95%, but the speed is only 50-60 Mbs :(
any issues a year on - thinking of dumping sky. i live near tower bridge im getting 120 mb on just 4g because noone in city of london
Interesting to hear after month of use, if VoXi capped your traffic after some time
as for my family it is about 15GB a day, so if to consider this as replacement for VM, I'd assume, I will consume about 500 Gbytes a month
But I've read all mobile operators cap their unlimited packets after 100Gbytes
Otherwise theres is no sense for them sell, as example Vodafone Home Broadband for £60 and data sim with 5G enables for just £32
Need a stable mifi and couldn't find any helpful uk info. Got a voda unlimited max data sim for £23pm on black Friday. Phone tethering is pooh but that is mahoooooosive!
Test at 9:00
Does it accept sim card u didnt show that
I just want to ask..how can i connect the tv to thia router using the 5g ..because it appears the 2.4g and 5g..but i cannot connect 5g
Possibly the frequency, I don't own this device, but take a look at 5Ghz band settings in the modem, some are more compatible than others.
keep it up
Thank you!
Any good for gaming?
You need 3mbps download minimum for gaming , this offers 200+mbps and you need 5mbps upload this offers 15+ mbps so is very good for gaming
Please someone answer does this router have an open nat
You get those speeds on crappy Vodafone? You must live inside an antenna.
Just as a heads-up, you could install a mast outside, which will improve stability and speed.
Can you recommend anything to test the signal from the mast?
@@jamescunningham3891 You mean to be able to test the difference ? I'm not sure without having it set up, as far as knowing what kind of signal to expect you can get a good idea via cellmapper.net
That’s actually very fast Internet especially for a mobile network
I think it's quite opposite. 4G+ goes up to 1Gb speeds.
While 5G STARTS from 1Gb speeds.
I'm currently on Virgin's 100mbps plan which is great but £41 a month is a bit steep in my opinion. 5g is the way to go I think.
Please dont stop making youtube videos.Tell more about 5G. : ) Thank you for the video.
Can we get an update?
It’s a shame they haven’t allowed a network connection so you can use it as a bridge to personal network equipment
search for industrial modem or router +5g
my one keeps disconnecting and slowing down at least once per day
good video m8...im just wondering if anyone has the cheaper 4g version of this and running it on a three sim....i live in a rural part of the uk and using a d-link 4g router on a three unlimited data sim and getting 20dl and 6 upload....will this give me better results or is it just wishful thinking? ;-)
only one sim will do.. modems can connect to multioke towers and combining its all speed
You may want to consider checking Huawei B818-263 from Amazon. Obviously if you don't have 5G facility within a few meters, or at least you may guess if your provider set up one for you in the next 2-3 years, you may opt to have something that would make sense.
Tplink 4G router amazon using my £8 unlimited three sim plan cheap as chips for home broadband lol
for Carrier aggregation, I recommend you to buy netgear..
netgear router speeds are great and portable like nighthawk with battery.. where u can connect external antennas...
huawei chinese routers are trash dont be fo00led by these money hungry peole who works for chinese.0
voxi is speed capped it's a load of toss moved to three and got way faster speeds rather pay the extra
Gaming?
going to be leaving shitty virgin media is the 5GEE Router 2021 any good for pc gaming and streaming movies?
Good for gaming if you’re in an area of 5g coverage E.g. city centre. I average 100-200mbs download but when in an area of low service it is pretty much useless
@@user-nv6bq7cd5i hi there, looking to get one of these. Have you been using it for gaming? Is it stable? What about latency?
@@turbulentFlux yes i get 100mbps+ & 20-40ping but this is only good if you live in an area of good 5g e.g. the city centre. so check the 5g coverage before to see if your area covers it. (tip: if u get it leave it on the window sill)

@@turbulentFlux I see, you can even check the coverage online for the places that you’re looking to move to. Also if you find it bad you can return it within 14days I think (well with three network).

why didnt you get a device with the plan as i did from three???..the device cost nothing.. weird you would do that?
Obviously I'm not OP but I'd wager that this was a decision made because of coverage - just because one network has 5G in your locality, doesn't mean the others do too.
That is over double my download and upload speeds than my fibre optic cable !!!
I was told the 5G Broadband will get up to 1.600 MBS
I am waiting for my hub to test and see
so?

If it has one 1Gbps Ethernet port (1000Mbps) then they really aren’t expecting to achieve 1.6Gbps. Just like many Wi-fi speeds, what is show in the theoretical limits as set out in standards and not what can actually be achieved in real life.
so frustrating as won't connect to steam!

I've just taken out a 12 month contract on 3 for the 5g hub mobile broadband package, I'm hoping that it's faster than the virgin home broadband already used at my address! I took out this package as I stream and game a lot, and sometimes when there is a few people connected on the house broadband, it slows down substantially, so now I'm on my own connection, it should be all good!

the plastic is thin for a reason lol. the antennas are inside, genius.
Plastic does not need to be cheap and thin to allow transmission of 5G signals, Einstein.
@@Withnail1969
It really isn't 'obvious' there are plastics made specifically to allow 5G to pass through, and products can be designed to have the right plastic in the right places, whilst using other 'premium' materials where it doesn't matter.

More- better ñ
Netgear nighthawk m series will have 4 and 5 CA.
Not sure what Britain did to you but try go easy on them
@@ryanking0011 I have nothing against Britain.
