In reference to the Mathew story. Just an FYI, teachers are mandatory reporters of child abuse or suspected child abuse (in the states). They are required by law to report abuse within 72 hours. If they do not report it, they can charged with civil (meaning you can sue them) and criminal liability. I have also been told we can face federal charges if a child is hurt and we failed to report the abuse be it confirmed or suspected (I’m a mandatory reporter). If you ask for their help and they do nothing, contact the police and file a report about the inaction. Police are mandatory reporters too so you’ll have a second chance at getting someone else besides you to file; but make sure to look up where to file a child abuse complaint and file your own. I can help look up where to file if anyone needs help, I just need your state of residence. All reports are confidential but they do take your info; it’s strictly for their use. It’s for if they need to speak with you after the report. The accused will never know who reported them. I can give anyone who asks, a whole list of mandatory reporters.

So many schools just ignore/cover up the actions of child predators. It's crazy. I more understand homeschooling as a result (aside from the frequent school sh.o.otings).

My mom told me when I was 5 or 6 years old "Do not trust strangers, they want to kidnap you take you were you'll never be found slit open yr throat and drink yr blood!" Well it worked. I was very cautious of my surroundings as a child, teen, and now as an adult.
It’s extremely important to teach kids to be aware of their surroundings at all times. A lot of parents don’t really emphasize just how important it really is and the horrors of what can really happen. Good thing your mom explained it in a way that you never forgot lol

Yeah, I don't understand parents who're not more straightforward like that (my mom was). I'll take making them uncomfortable in the moment from my warning over them not being prepared for the full potential of a stranger and suffering the very things I could have warned them about. Parents who don't talk to their children straight set them up for failure, imo.

Going along with what the lesson at the end of story 8 was-yes, please speak up when you feel like you are in danger, trouble, anything that could harm your mental and physical well-being. Sometimes speaking up may mean some temporary embarrassment and awkwardness but it could save you a lifetime of misery or your life to be real depending on the situation. I have 2 little girls that my wife and I will be teaching these lesson to. One big thing to learn as a parent which is easier said than done is to not sweat the small stuff. If your kids are afraid to tell you about the small stuff because of your poor reaction, they most certainly will not come to you about the big stuff. Talk people! Speak up for yourself! If no one listens then keep trying until someone does. If still no one listens there are plenty of anonymous hotlines you can call to help with counseling and self help. Take care people.

Thank you!!!😎 First story reminded me of a “kidnapper van” that followed my friend and I in the late 80s while we took our walk to the local strip mall in NJ; ie. Bradlee’s, Food Town, liquor store, pizza place, KMart. I was so scared I bought plunger. That’s all I could afford. LOL Thankfully, we survived and were not apprehended. And my Mom would always tell me to scream, “fire,” as well!

Regarding story #10: the date 31st Dec 2049 was the latest date the phone's software could store. I'm a professional database designer BTW. In those days only two digits were used to store the year (e.g. 2022 would be stored as 22). The convention is to assume a number above 49 refers to the twentieth century (e.g. 50 means 1950) and below 50 refers to the twentyfirst century so 49 means 2049. IMHO that solves the mystery of where that date come from.

@@ggoob3020 It would still display as 2049-what OP is saying here is in the behind the scenes data it would be stored only as “49” to save space in memory. But the programming knows to interpret a 49 as 2049 when displaying it on-screen for the user to see.

True FREE story... It had to be a Saturday or Sunday because there's no school I was allowed to go "exploring" the neighborhood..went to the creek with a friend. We came to a bridge... when we came around the corner and looked... there was a guy behind another guy. The guy on the ground was kinda fighting or moving alot.... me and my friend didn't say anything we just took off running. When we got back to my grandpas house I asked my friend what he thought they were doing..... maaaaaan I'm still haunted that I didn't yell something. Both there pants were down....

Feel really bad for the girl who had the issues with Matthew. The adults in that story utterly failed her (except mom and the lady at the school office). What kind of teachers and policies did that place have? It continued into her college days. This should have been taken care of when it happened.
Also, parents care waaay too much about grades and don't ask / try to understand what causes bad grades (ESPECIALLY when a good student's grades suddenly plummet. THAT should be a clue that something COULD be very wrong). Her dad . . . sorry, does NOT win father-of-the-year.
