Boy George is always himself, great performer.
One of those voices that can't be confused with anybody else's. Beautiful song. I like that he wasn't afraid to be himself.
Yah. George aged well but I like his more distinctive 80s vocals
Exquisite💓💘💔💕💖 💝
He's brave ...for some reason it's really shown in this and it's beautiful plain and simple.
It was 1983,times were different than they are in 2021. Goodness! Is this song really almost 40 years old.
I can't believe it either! OMG
I wish we could go back to 1983! I miss it!
So, Richard, are you feeling old yet? ;-) ;-) ;-)
I remember watching Casey Kasem's Report on The Second Wave Of The British Invasion on America's Top Ten. They were wizard mixing American R & B, Reggae and British/Punk Rock Music. When The Video was put on North American TV people were "What Is That, Who Is That?"
Boy George has a beautiful voice & he did stand his ground.
He put out new music a few years ago & his voice as sweet as ever.
This in my opinion is one of their best songs. 👍🎶
In Junior High my friend was super into this group. I remember when she came to school with her makeup and hair styled like Boy George. Her mom wouldn't let her wear the ovesized baggy shirt though.
This song brings back a lot of memories. Thank you for this reaction. :)
They named their group Culture Club because the members were from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds
Yes, the "blackface" was a reference to the racial absurdity of that era "1936", and the contrast to now and what culture club stands for, which is diversity and inclusion of all races and cultures, hence their name "culture club".
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ah, thank you for that, was wondering about that in my comment.
@@dovegrey1 Yes, and notice in the video, Boy George is being arrested and on trial for "being different".
I didn't think I'd ever seen the "blackface" before.
The Black and White minstrel show was on UK TV untill 1970s. Not a era of British history I’m particularly proud of
And in the video those were black actors in black face, I forget his exact reasoning, but I remember George talking about it in a interview and how most people never really noticed it cause MTV and other major video channels edited around the shots. But we can see it now in full on RUclips .
George is about to turn 60! He was on season 1 of The Voice. He said he almost didn't record this song thinking it was too slow & he was ready to leave the band, but it changed his life and it was a deeply personal song. It went to #1 in 36 countries! I hope you react to Black Money, another great Culture Club song.
Beautiful iconic song from the 80s boy george had such beautiful voice
First big hit single for Culture Club. Loved them in the 80s! 🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦🇨🇦
Boy George has a great voice.
Love this song. But my fav from Culture Club will always be ‘Victims’ such a beautiful and an emotional song.
Yes, I love "Victims" too, great song. Recently I discovered "Cold Shoulder". I love it too. Check it out if you haven't heard it. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Yah Ballads tend to be OP tho as they always steal the show lol. For instance I may love Xtinas “Ain’t no Other Man” but her song “Beautiful “ takes the cake.
Boy George was one of the teen fans who used to sit outside David Bowie's house when Bowie first made it big with his Ziggy Stardust persona in 1972-73. You can certainly see the influences there, but that does not take away from his own personal taste & amazing talents.
KSO, maybe you will consider doing Bowie's classic song "Life on Mars" from his Ziggy period and you can see the influences.
m.ruclips.net/video/UipTt-qqZOEb/видео.html.
Never seen the Wedding Singer, have no desire to. I only know the song from the video. Still sounds fresh after all these years, like it was made yesterday.
Oh, memories... In 1983 I was shocked when I discover Culture Club with Karma Chameleon, and it was love forever, you got to react more from them, great, great music, I Tumble 4 Ya, Miss Me Blind, Victims, Time (Clock of The Heart), Black Money, Cold Shoulder, The Medal Song, The War Song, Heaven's Children, God Thank You Woman, It's A Miracle, Love is Love, I Just Wanna Be Loved... I can't stop...
This was a staple of early MTV in the early 1980s, and it was played almost hourly. That was the first time I had ever seen Culture Club or Boy George, and I remember trying to figure out if the lead singer was male or female!
Me too!
The U.S. version cut out the black-face part. Here in Canada we got both versions.
I’ve always liked this song and Karma Chameleon ☺️👍
Karma Chameleon is a great song!! Love it!
To show you how popular Boy George & Culture Club were at the time, they guest-starred on an episode of The A-Team(long story(lol)). They also performed "Karma Chameleon" in the ending scene, before the closing credits.
@@ruthannkizakavich3325 KC beautiful song
Huh, my dad always loved this song while my mom loved Karma Chameleon. I love them both lmao
Love Boy George and the Culture Club... music, videos, etc. Ok, let's talk about the video: as someone has mentioned the surface story of the video was Boy George being removed for his sexuality.... it refers to the fact that my community (the gay community) has been oppressed through many decades. So, now let's talk about the court scenes and black face: The court is a British Colonial court from a Caribbean Island and is showing the farce of the legal system with oppressed peoples. The jury, being comprised of people who are black and in black face, represent one group of people who have been oppressed throughout the years.... and it is a "jury of your peers" of Boy George who is representing another group of people who have been oppressed throughout the years.
I ❤️ all of Culture Club’s songs. “Victims” is their masterpiece!
Their sound certainly wasn't like anyone elses'; it's "happy" music with a danceable groove.
Do it to it Boy ... I loved loved loved them ✌️💛🍯
In the 80's it was hard to be openly gay and the video shows it being even worse in the decades before it.
Hard? He was one of the most famous Blitz Kids, like Marc Almond, Steve Strange and Marilyn. Nobody has accused them of being homosexual, but of being drugged all day and just a few have survived to those days.
Love this song...his voice is amazing
Do you really want to hurt me KSO? Please react to "Talk talk- it's my life." You'd love it dearest!
Yes!!! "It's My Life" is one of my favorites from the early MTV days of the 1980s! Beautiful video too, showing all the wildlife!
I'll second that
@@centuryrox Oh yes, I loved that song, too. No Doubt did a cover of it a few years later.
@@DavidBDavis-lz7bt I thought that song was written by No Doubt until I found it was actually a cover
The first time I heard this back in the 80's it shook my queer little heart to its very foundations.
I loved growing up in the 80's im glad to be from this generation
Do you really want to hurt me, do you really want to make me cry ✨ iconic
When he says, “I’m prepared to let you go,” I get all in my feelings 🥺
This song came out in the early 80's it was a game changer as I think it was the Culture Clubs first major hit. I remember it well as I played this song in the nightclubs many times.
Finally some Culture Club!!. “Black Money” is also a good one! There was drama with this group as Boy George was in love with one of the straight members of the group, and it eventually became a main source of his drug use and the bands break up., and it’s rumored this song is about that relationship.
I was in junior high such a long time ago this is one good song great artists
You’re gonna like this KSO- let’s watch! ❤️💞✌️
First time I saw this video I loved him. I saw him live a few years back he was great. Funny and entertaining. Same great voice.
Boy George was an awesome entertainer, and awesome voice.
Yet another song George wrote about Jon. That album is full of them!
Boy George, for being different he was a great singer
ruclips.net/channel/UCEWVXUguRlcm1V_bA-Rz5nQvideos
Good thing difference has nothing to do with vocals lol
I think George was looking back over the early part of the 20th century,I remember him talking about it somewhere, possibly when they made a documentary about his life and he was actually in it and took himself and his fans back throughout his life
It's nice to hear a woman's reaction. In the 80's there were transgenders on the streets, but Boy George and others were breaking the ice by creating music videos dressed as gay and dressing how they feel like to. Which I am glad and the younger generation was more accepting of this new idea at first. I taught he was cute, and brave.
Boy George, lovely fella and a great voice that still carries today.
I also love the inclusion of dub style music in a (reggae influenced) pop song.
Such an interesting concept of Boy George as a time traveler....I'd forgotten about the blackface chorus---yeah, I didn't know why they did that. I loved the song when it first came out. Just love your fashion style, girl. Beautiful earrings, necklaces, and a lovely scarf that ties it all together. Keep it up!
Ah good. You have played one of the best songs of the 80s.Good.
When I was little I use to sing this to my older sister...
Me: 🎤DO YOU REALLY WANT TO HURT ME?...
My sister: "YES!"...
Me: 🎤DO YOU REALLY WANT TO MAKE ME CRY?...
My sister: "YES!!!" 🙄🤣
Such a beautiful song 🎵 😍
Great review and you look so pretty love the way your hair looks...
Still my favorite song of theirs. Glad to see it getting some reaction.
Yes, the wedding singer. The guy singing it passed away.
Love CULTURE CLUB!
I love when you call us your Honies
What a timeless 80s hit. I feel these days tolerance and openness is on the decline again.
Another important song in this vein is "Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat!!
Good call on Bronski Beat.
The people in "black face" were all black men. It was showing how the Night Clubs, in that period, were Racist, without this video being Racist. Angela.UK. X
It’s so strange to look at this video now! Boy George was shocking back in 1983 and now it’s hard to imagine why. We were so close-minded and uneducated that a man dressed slightly ambiguously was controversial. Can you believe it?!
FINALLY 🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍 Thank you for reacting to this BUT if you really want to hear Boy George's skills you have to listen to VICTIMS
Ikr. I prefer his 80s vocals so much
Today Boy Gearge is a judge on The Voice Australia.
I remember when I first saw this on MTV! Everyone thought he was weird! I love the song at the time. Still a pretty good song.
The beginning is gorgeous just gorgeous
Love it!!!! Thank you for this reaction!! Please react to Miss Me Blind!!
Can't believe where time has gone so fast..The wedding singer was a hilarious movie, i loved it!
And Drew Barrymore was absolutely ADORABLE in that movie!
The song came out 16 years before that movie
Hall & Oats " Can't go for that (No can do)"
In UK he was different but everyone seemed to love him, even grannies. I think he was marketed as cute and not threatening. In his real life it seems he was much more edgy
At this point he was really just a club kid -- it was later he went off the rails
Can I please request I'll Tumble 4 Ya or Miss Me Blind by Culture Club. Thank you.
Time, clock of the heart is also good
That was a synthesizer that sounded like a xylophone.
Finally more Culture Club! Could you react to Miss Me Blind, It's A Miracle, Church Of The Poison Mind, The War Song, Move Away, Victims, Love Is Love, Black Money.
Great reaction --- but just to clarify, this song was from about 16 years before the movie "Wedding Singer". The song was released in 1982. The "Wedding Singer" was from 1998...but yes, the song was featured in the movie.
Btw, talking about movies, have you considered also doing movie reactions? I, and others I'm sure, would definitely check out your movie reactions --- or even subscribe to your movie reaction channel if you ever decide to create a separate channel to just do movie reactions.
She has a channel for that. She already have done two reactions
@@jmontenegro1124 - Great, thanks...I just found the link to her movie-reaction channel under the description, so I subscribed and set notifications. Cheers!!
Wedding singer takes place in 1985, though it came out in 98. So it fits with the time period perfectly. Classic song no matter what year it came out.
This is a great one! Try "Time (Clock Of The Heart)"
I love Boy George! I had a crush on him when I was 14 ,before the obvious dawned on me,lmao!(I guess I just thought he was eccentric, lol) He's really cool though and talks to his fans on Twitter.
Hey, A crush is all fantasy anyway, so what difference does it make what a person's orientation is anyway? Fantasize away, in my book! It's all just fine!
Boy George IS eccentric.
@@chicochi3 Indubitably
Alexis Arquette was the guy from wedding singer RIP
I can't hear this song without thinking of The Wedding Singer, and then I just start laughing.
In the 80s everyone was very nice to each other. It was a light and breezy era. Today sucks.
time is my favorite boy george
Loved your comments and reaction to it
Love the channel
There is a RUclipsr shouting out other RUclipsrs to watch(Rome life reactions). I suggested he check out your channel so maybe he adds you to next shoutout list.
God I miss the 80s.
He is explaining his "crimes".
Ending sound more like a ukele.
Check out it's a miracle next
The first time I heard this song I thought it was Smokey Robinson.
K.S.O. Do John Lennon's 'Mind Games'.
Please hear Diana King sing this song. Her cover is amazing.
List to victims boy george
Wow recently commented about this song! Their Vid distracted me from song. Best to just listen.
Please, react to Black, Wonderful Life.
"Small Town Boy" by Bronski Beat
If you get a chance, check out Luther Vandross official video called "I Can Make It Better, I think you will react in an awesome way.
La mia infanzia
Time should be your next song.
Please react to HOME FREE - I SWEAR by JOHN MICHAEL MONTGOMERY
Sincerely, KSO I felt it was disturbing to you but "blackface" does not carry the same weight in Europe as it does in the US. In Britain it is an element of cabaret, vaudeville shows and that's it. The same way when the Beatles first arrived on America made it clear they would not allow their shows to be segregated. I think we europeans became more aware of those differences these past few years.
Beautiful women ❤️
Listen to black money and mistake number 3
Love Boy George! Really helped the LBGDQ Community! NEVER hid his sexuality.
Hi lovely song, I heard that there is a story behind this song. This son was sang by BG to one of the guys from the band, I think was a the drummer, I am not sure. By the way, you are a sexy woman and your teeth are fantastic. Hello from Mexico.
There’s no “The”
Why the blackface though?
Hi just to let you jniw ita Culture Club not The Culture Club
They were impersonating a cover band.
Could you please react to Thalia - Amor a la Mexicana (white house performance)
really.. i like this channel.. but you've started making the videos too small..
RUclips is making them resize or they block it.
@@b.buster. It's getting ridiculous now. Pointless on a phone. Better to have a bigger screen with 50%-60% opacity
