Those done awesome ! Dang I thought those yielded well for being in pots . I was never a fan of growing potatoes in pots those potatoes might change my mind . Thanks for sharing and have a blessed Sunday !
Beautiful! Too funny, that’s a saying my mom says..better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick! You’re the only one I’ve heard say that beside her. Great harvest!
My dad used to tell us of his days as a child ... you know... walking uphill barefoot in the snow etc. He used to say when they were starving all they has to eat was a snowball. It became a saying in my family .... well it beats a snowball.
I have the video on my channel of planting these , how I did it and what we used the video title is Container Planting Sarpo Mira Seed Potatoes 4/24/23 my video's are in order by the dates just go to my channel click the video tab at the top and scroll down to it if your interested and thanks for watching friend 👍
Growing these for the first time this year in 10 -15 gallon containers. I Missed the seed potatoes last yr, they sold really out fast. I keep hearing great things about them. Did you start out with 3 or 4 seed potatoes per container? Great looking harvest! Enjoy eating them! 😋
I planted 2 seed potatoes in each container I have a video on my channel of how I planted these , what amendments I used , how I placed the containers for maximum yield , the video is called Container Planting Sarpo Mira Seed Potatoes 4/24/23 by CityLotGardening its very informative if your interested and thanks for watching 👍
He has a great channel I'm a subscriber he hooked me on growing these and those giant Ailsa Craig onions and those huge carrots thanks for watching friend 👍
Nice! Thanks for filming! I had been wondering how the Sarpo's would do here, I just found out this year that they were available here in the U.S. from the same place you bought them, well now I know! What zone are you in?
I guess anything is better then a sharp stick in the eye LOL , I'm hoping to do better next year growing these it was our first time planting them thanks for watching friend 👍
We put potting mix , composted cow manure , leaves , bone meal and organic tomato and vegetable fertilizer and a little garden soil mixed in , hope that helps friend thanks for watching 👍
I ordered the Sarpo Mira seed potatoes from the Wood Prairie Family Farm website and the pots were from a local nursery but you can order 9 gallon pots online or check your local nursery or tree farm thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for watching our videos friend , if your interested check out our Giant cabbage harvesting video and last year's Giant Marconi sweet pepper harvesting video's they are very entertaining 👍
I'd heard a lot of hype about that variety & I almost bought some seed potatoes myself. Please let us know how they end up comparing overall to the other varieties you grow.
I wish I was better at math, but from six potatoes you surely got over 500% increase? Lovely to see. Hope you eat a couple and see if you enjoy the taste.☺
We will be doing a taste comparison of these Sarpo Miras, our Yukon Golds and our Baby Dutch yellow potatoes , that's a good idea for a video thanks for watching 👍
We haven't eaten any yet in the UK they fry them for chips and mash them with salt and butter we will try their recipes and let you know how they taste 👍
Here in England, we consider Sarpo Mira a "main crop" potato. So, they're used throughout the winter. They make a nice roast potato to go with Sunday lunch. I bought a 2 kg (about 4.5 lbs) bag of Sarpo Mira seed potatoes and planted 2 tubers in each 30 litre container. That gave me 10 containers. I expect that will give me enough for winter plus enough egg-sized ones to use as seed potatoes next year. They do like an occasional dressing of blood, fish and bone meal or potato fertiliser granules as they'll quickly use any nutrients in the compost.
We had a severe drought this year and the plant that had the most green vines left was the one I watered heavy the other two dry ones only got what water was left in the bottom of the water bucket 👍
Yes. Sowing potatoes in the ground is the traditional way to grow them. However, they do well in 30 litre containers. This year, I have 10 first earlies (International Kidney), 10 second earlies (Charlotte) and 10 main crop (Sarpo Mira) all in 30 litre containers. I put 2 main crop seed potatoes in each container and 4 first-early or second-early seed potatoes in each container and mixed in blood, fish and bone meal. They grow very well this way. The main advantage is that they are so much easier to harvest this way than growing them in the ground (especially because you don't stick a fork through them when digging them up). I urge you to try it.
I paid $ 20 for 1 pound which was 6 potatoes and used LAZYDOGFARM promo code which helped with shipping and I stored most of my harvest in the fridge to plant this year I have enough seed potatoes from my harvest that I won't need to order any more I just replant my own so for me it was worth the $ 20 bucks because I can keep growing my own from just one purchase , in the 2024 catalog I just received 1 pound of organic Sarpo Mira (6) potatoes is only $19.99 thanks for watching 👍
Good harvest, so your yield would be about 2 pounds of potatoes for each potato planted. Have a good week!
Crocs n socks. My favorite footwear ensemble.
All terrain garden footware 😆 👍
More potatoes than dirt mate. Very excellent harvest.
We get about 10 potatoes from one & it looks like your getting 20 potatoes per one planted. 👍

Good job buddy! How'd they taste?
They were good but I still prefer Yukno Gold as my go to potato but these yield better and are more disease resistant thanks for watching 👍
Now save some in a paper bag so you don’t have to buy any next year so you have your own potato seed.
We will thanks for watching friend 👍
Wow, great job.
What is your soil mix? It’s so loose and the potatoes love growing in it!!
Great harvest
We put potting mix , composted cow manure , leaves , bone meal and organic tomato and vegetable fertilizer and a little garden soil mixed in , hope that helps friend thanks for watching 👍

Are they similar to a russet or a boiling potato? You’ll have to let us know how they taste etc.
We haven't eaten any yet in the UK they fry them for chips and mash them with salt and butter we will try their recipes and let you know how they taste 👍

Why did you water dead plants?
We had a severe drought this year and the plant that had the most green vines left was the one I watered heavy the other two dry ones only got what water was left in the bottom of the water bucket 👍
Spuds always do better in the ground and two per pot might have been a whee bit too much for it. You got some awesome big spuds out of there though
Lord willing we will do better next year 👍
Great haul no worries about planting in ground critters etc.Great job👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Yes. Sowing potatoes in the ground is the traditional way to grow them. However, they do well in 30 litre containers.

Did you pay $60 for 6 seed potatoes. Those people are way over priced.
In the UK, we'd expect to pay £8-10 for a 2 kg (about 4.5 lbs) bag of Sarpo Mira seed potatoes.
You never seem to bring your wheel barrow.
It's in the building by the time I dig it out it will be winter lol 😆 👍
