Definitely putting this in my list of beers to brew next! I'm craving pickle beer, and googled to see some video ideas. Even if it tastes gross, I don't care, I neeeeed the dill. 😂
I've legit watch hours of your videos the past few days. I have learned a great deal about brewing while watching these very entertaining videos. Keep up the good work and looking forward to more!!
I really enjoy these videos. I'm sure I've watched every one of them, many more than once. I have learned a lot from the practical approaches and DIY advice, and I find that the humor, quick cuts, even the music creates a level of entertainment that keeps me watching, whereas other channels are putting me to sleep, even if they are on content that I am trying to learn more about. Please, please, please keep making these, and YES, do a video on reusing yeast, and Yes a "Boring" water video (which i'm confident will be anything but boring), would be thoroughly enjoyed. I honestly don't care if it's been done, you guys do it way better!
Just finished the pickle beer. I couldn't get the ph below 3.8 and my abv was 1.050/ 5.25% and that's actually a plus. Thanks for the recipe you guy's are 💯💥
Love the in depth style of this video, definitely going to use these tips for when I eventually upgrade to all electric. I would also love a boring water video as well!
I like how after goofing about you genuinely know what your talking about. I’ve just started brewing this year and I’m currently just doing it from liquid malt cans. Maybe next year I’ll take a look at this anvil machine 👍🏻 great video guys
@@HOMEBREW4LIFE I've seen them in some of the craft beer stores locally, have yet to try one. I am, like you mentioned in the vid, not a fan of IPAs, so i'm a little hesitant.
H4L there's a local in town called Tailgate Brewing that pairs their dill kolsch with Nashville Hot Chicken. It's great. Glad you're doing this dill too, which I plan to do soon. Cheers fam.
I was asking about ideas on this many years ago in homebrew talk and at my local brew shop I have graduated to craft distilling and looking to get back to brewing
Braj, did a riff on this with a traditional Gose grain bill, Philly sour and dill weed/ coriander to your spec and holy fuck! Thanks man… perfect summer beer, turnt out incredible
This is what I was looking for. I tried Spicy Pickle Monster last year when I was in San Antonio and wanted to make a pickle beer using Philly Sour. Now I just need to figure out how many jalapeños to add to 5 gallons.
Hey, you mention you no longer need to mash for 60 minutes because of the efficiency of the grain today. Does that go for all brew grains? Is there a downside to mashing these "new" grains for 60 minutes? Just don't want to mash for 15-30 minutes when I should mash for 60 and vice versa. Getting back into brewing after a near 25 year hiatus. The little I did back then was extract brewing so I'm trying to learn all-grain now. Thanks and enjoy your videos.
My plan was a mildly sour using a small amount of asidulated malt using dried garlic and dill as a dry hop with a good bite hop and minimal boil hop just a light bitter hop
Was where I imagined was a low abv BBQ beer for while eating a burger may do same recipe and try but do 40 50 and 10 acidulated malt I will also smoke for 1 hrs when I get into it
I love the Best Maids pickle beer! Until now... I was the only one I knew who did lol. I wanna make this, I just don't have any fancy beer making things!
Big ups to the best/most creative Homebrew channel there is. Do you have any tips on purging an Anvil Foundry kettle sour once you add the lacto? I tried to just wrap with suran, but I think I ran into some oxygen issues. Thanks, and keep up the great content! Stoked for the Braj Casts!
I've decided I'm definitely going to try this recipe! I have a question about the vinegar addition... In the video you suggested pouring 4oz samples of the finished beer and adding vinegar to your liking, starting with 5ml and increasing to 10ml, 15ml and so forth. The video then says you ended up putting 500ml vinegar total into the keg, so if this is a 5 gallon batch wouldn't that mean you determined only about 3.3ml of vinegar was ideal in a 4oz sample glass? That's significantly less than your samples... Sorry, just trying to get clarification in case any of these numbers are off. I don't want to buy too little vinegar and realize it on bottling day. I know it's been a while since you brewed this but hopefully you can recall or check your notes? Thanks!
Yo! ultimately it comes down to how much vinegar you want. I'm a vinegar junky, but if i were to sell / bottle it. I wouldn't go as hard. Looking back, I'd just add 8oz of apple cider vinegar to the keg. Cheers!
Yo bruh nice vid as always. You ever underpitch yo kviek? That's what I've been doing recently, just a tablespoon of slurry, I feel like it goes faster than normal for some reason when I do it that way.
Yeah when i first started using them id check it at 8 hours, then every hour after that until i had piece of mind. Usually takes 13-15 hours. Also pull the pills apart like we did in the video

yo, so I went to a class a year back on how to taste beer and off flavors. It was long, it was exhausting, I didn't get drunk. They didn't teach the key bump method of tasting(?) the head. Should I ask for a refund? Is it too late?
But really...one time about 10 years ago my then gf asked my 8 year old sister what she was drinking and she said "pickle juice". No joke. She was housing the brine casually like a fucking animal. Some people are just built different
