Boy, I'll tell ya what... that's the kind of operation I grew up next to in Southwestern Ohio. That sure brings back a lot of memories! This was back in the 40s and 50s. A lifetime ago, but the pictures I carry in my mind are as clear as yesterday. They a silo and put first cuttin' hay it... chopped green. The corn they raised went to corn&cob meal to mix up the cattle feed. They ground the corn and oats in an old hammer mill... using a 52 Farmal M and a flat belt. Those were good days. I had no idea how much I would miss them as the years went by. I'd go back.in a heart beat.

What you described is what we do quite often even today! Sure makes you appreciate what the old-timers had to do to survive!
