I use a white background for photographing clothing for eBay and have never got the background to be pure white. I am going to implement this technique right away to hopefully get better results. Thank you for explaining the histogram.

OMG! I just watched this again and learned something so basic, so simple, I cannot believe I never thought of this before. I use my Canon ST-E3 transmitter to trigger Canon receivers I have plugged in to my studio strobes. I never thought about using a flash on camera as you did here. Could have saved me a few dollars. I will definitely be trying that next time I shoot. Thanks!

Just a thought, could you use lights such as strip lights or standing lamps with 5000K light bulbs, to help get the same result?

Hi Andrew, really love your tutorials! Simple, straight forward and easy to follow.
I'm pretty new in the area of DSLR shooting so maybe this sounds like a stupid question...
But I always thought you would get the same effect if you would lower the shutter speed instead of increasing ISO as it lets more light in...
Now you said severeal times that Shutter speed controls ambient light.
Could you or someone please explain the difference?

Increasing shutter speed has 2 disadvantages/dangers: 1 is that you risk shaking the camera and introducing blur into your photo. Low shutter speeds require that you use a tripod and remote trigger to fire the camera. Second, you are shooting a model, a human, she could easily move and introduce blur into the picture again. Low shutter speeds are good for things that are not alive or where you really want to paint the picture with light. Low shutter speeds are quite inappropriate for human subjects

Yes sir! There is! If you look at all my latest videos, my background is really white. We use the same technique sir.
Do I need to use optical trigger for this? I only own two hot shoe flashes. Can I use radio trigger with the two flashes on my background?

Hi Andrew! I've been doing night street photography recently. And last time I went to time square in NYC and I found it is really hard to balance the exposure between the LED billboards and the street view. Can you do a tutorial on the night street shooting with complex light environment?

I really enjoy your RUclips Videos. Your method of teaching really works well for me. I use a D7000 so some features are not as extensive as your camera but I still get the concept. I've been a bit confused with all these people on RUclips recommending to use auto ISO, so I've been trying it but a lot of my images ended up with too much noise. I've set my Maximum to ISO 1600 and the lowest is ISO 100 and the minimum Shutter speed is 1/30. If I'm able to shoot in Manual shouldn't I just adjust my own ISO?
