@@Mechanized85 why so? The M60 has been getting constant life extension programs for the export market, plenty of which do genuinely bring the Patton III to a modern standard. And it still has the M68 gun which were used on the earlier M1 tanks.
That brings back some great memories of my time in them! My class was the last one to go through the M60A1 training at Ft. Knox in 9/82. They started the next class on the M60A3 training.
I went to Ft. Knox to train on the M1 A1 Abrams in 99. Got to my duty station in Germany 7th ATC. We drove the M60 A3. They were used to simulate T80s.
The M-60 is named the, "Eisenhower." The M-47 & M-48 were the, "Patton." (BTW: Wikipedia got it wrong, also.) The M-60A3 was my tank for three years during the 1980s; I know her very well.
M60 is one hell of a tank, and still a great backup to our Abrams!

Forgot to mention that the M46 was also a Patton
The best ass on any tank. Change my mind.
Cool!
The M60 never was called the Patton, only the M46, M47 and M48.
I never knew that, thanks for the info!
