@thelammas8283 I'm with you, loot llamma. It's great stuff, but in the 9 hours it would take me to prepare for a round, think of how much better at chipping I could get.
you can use Autocad and set the scale to the scale google earth shows at the bottom right corner. you can create the cone easily and just rotate as you go, one file and you just go snap a pic of the course you want, set the scale and you are good to start placing cones.i think it could save you a lot of time. great video!
Really liked that video. I made a driving wedge graphic where the tee point is in the centre of the image. ie. the tee pixel roughly is half the width and height of the whole image, so when you rotate, it rotates around the axis. I'll upload it to Dropbox if you're interested. I've also made one it to include Driver, 3w and 3i (distance and lateral dispersion) from the tee so I can see in one image what all three clubs could potentially do. I also made a 5 degree wedge for irons to see if at full green width, what is the distance to where you can aim centre of the green and still have a good chance to hit it. This works off Peter Thompsons strategy of working out the hole backwards. This visualisation of strategy is truly a big learning moment for me, thanks for your work.Much appreciated!
This is a great video. When you choose the three cone numbers (300-270-240), is that based on average total distance of the 3 longest clubs (in order to customize)?
Yes but really trying to give a visual example of whether to choose driver, 3 wood or 5 wood. If you scale the cone up or down based on your driver length, then it generally will scale down for the lesser clubs.
Did you ever get a chance to post the follow-up video you'd mentioned below? Also do you have to set up the distances for each course and then add the overlay and scale it? I wish there's a way that once the cone is scaled within the system you could copy it and paste it into a different course at a different location. I was lazy so I dragged mine through three states 😂
Coach - thanks for showing this. Quick question on the image overly altitude: in order to get the cone to remain stationary (not "drift" as you zoom in & out), it seems to need to be anchored to ground level. However, parts of the cone are then obscured by trees and such...how did you solve for this?
Yes. Right click on overlay in left hand section and select properties. In properties, you can find altitude and clamp it to the ground. Once you have the first one positioned, copy and paste that version.
I’m in the process of making an addendum to that video with all the new stuff I’m doing with it. However, one of my juniors just qualified for the US Am at Pinehurst and we are busy. :)
Hi. Based in UK playing of +3 been struggling recently. Would u. E able to make this grid for me for letchworth golf club a d sunningdale new course please. Happy to pay
Robert, the cones are only a representation of the natural dispersion (PGA Tour) of a 300 yard drive. This is to be used as a reference to know which direction to hit it and where it will typically land based on your normal length
Great tool. I am having difficulty adding the cone into google earth. I downloaded it and attempting to add overlay but it is not appearing. Perhaps you know why?
The principles are brilliant. The presentation or communication of DECADE needs to become easier to digest and use, for it to be truly useful.

Thank you very much for sharing with us all the upgraded version!
Chris, I've done the cones apparently the hard way for about 20-25 courses.
This is a huge time saver! Awesome! Thanks.
Robert Merrill, Jr. thank you. All of my Juniors love it. I have since added a few features and I may update the video at some point. Best
@@coach_chris_taylor hello even though its 2 years later, I would love to see an updated version of it :D
I will work on my new update as soon as I get back. Currently I’m at Pinehurst with a player in the 119th US Am. Incredibly exciting.
Coach Chris Taylor that’s sick af , I think I can get there if I dial in my strategy and stop going for every pin 😂

Hi Darran, I have emailed you.
Adrian could I have a copy to please jwatsongolfpro@gmail.com thanks in advance
would be great to get a copy Adrian. keighleypeters@gmail.com
Hope your juniors played well. Really looking forward to the addendum video :)
Awesome video, thanks for taking the time to do that.
Thank you for a great video. When I try to add the cone you have uploaded, it comes out to be bigger than 300yards. Do you know how I can fix that?
Thanks for sharing this. Wish my son had a coach like you! Hard to get him to use the decade system and he swings driver 125mph
Where do you live and how old is your son?
Excellent, Chris!!!
John Dunigan Thanks John.
Thank you for the video. I appreciated it.
nice work

Can this be completed in an afternoon, for two courses? I'm a novice at setting up something like this.
Torre Patrick it takes.a little getting used to. I can easily do it in an afternoon but I have already done many.

How do i keep google earth from moving into 3D view when zooming in?

@@coach_chris_taylor Can't wait to see your new material, coach. Thanks a lot for all your help and congrats on your success.
Great video! Thanks. I would like to contact with you. I have one question about it!
When adding the overlay, it seems to be not to scale. Any insight on this Chris?
Michael Chudacoff email me at coachchristaylor at gmail. Suggest a time to talk and I will walk you through it.
are you assuming that a driver is used for each of these or doesn't club choice matter?
Kevin Queen Set up the length of the cone to a personal driving distance.
👏👏👏
Can you do this on iPad?

I’m traveling for a few days. Let me take a look. What yardage do you play on each?

How far do you hit driver?

Phil, send me your email. Mine is coachchristaylor at Gmail
Did they change Google Earth? I'm not seeing how to do this anymore?
I figured it out...I downloaded earth pro :) thank you sir
I have a new video if similar content coming soon.
@@coach_chris_taylor awesome look forward to it
i was wondering how i can do these cons with my mac….well i was also wondering why in germany we have only a few FW with a 65 width 😜

Had a similar issue. Google Earth was inserting the image way above the course I was trying to do. Found the image once I zoomed way out.
Anyone still have the cone as drop box doesn't work from here any longer?
I just double checked it and re-linked it. It should work.
