You think maybe, Scott wouldnt have wanted to put too much information in the final video because he makes a living from people paying him for the information?
Coyote Ridge is my home course. I've played over 20 rounds of golf there since ive been a member there. The guy from Decades is spot on with his approach and course management . Great vid.
Watching this video confirmed my thoughts over the last few weeks. Scrambling from the rough near the green, is much better than struggling from 160yds in the fairway.
11:50 I live right down the street from this course and love Coyote Ridge. The first time I played with my buddy, he eagled hole 3 with a probably 50 yard chip-in from behind the bunker by the cart path.
I totally agree with him about clubbing up instead of hoping you hit the perfect shot. Got a birdie today by clubbing up to a 9 iron over PW knowing I had more than enough club, pin was in the back, and I rolled it 8 foot to the left for a birdie putt! Had I went with PW I would’ve came up short, probably left, and had a hard chip to save par.
I hover between a 1-4 index and I just get the back edge of the green yardage and hit a club that I know won't go over. I hit way more greens than flag hunting and a 50 foot birdie putt is better than most chips.
I'm not the calibur golfer he is, so maybe this is more common with higher skilled golfers, but I don't get trying to keep score but then refusing to give yourself what you really got on hole 4. "I'm just gonna take a bogey". It took three shots to get in from the sand, which should be counted. That was a triple bogey (including your drop from the bushes) that you should count as a double bogey, only because Scott said "That's good" before your putt. I guess I just figured out how to break 90 every time....refuse to take more than bogey on any hole I screw up for myself.
No what he is saying is the choices he would make different and still yield a similar result.. Difference as a 90 player, would be you never have 2 shots that are similar.
I thought you should of really highlighted Scott more this video. He's a big time guest and he's willing to give out some real nuggets of info but instead you were too busy cutting him off and being silly. I also wanted to see more of his swings, Scott is a player.

Really enjoyed this kinda vid George! Really interesting points that I can use for my game. Big fan of how positive you are even on a ‘sloppy shot’ for you (1yard left/right😂) was confusing at the stats part though in terms of what you should expect from certain distances etc, I’d like to understand that in more detail as I love info like that! Great vid
there's two things to this question - the first is the expected shot pattern. this will vary by distance and become larger (both in width and depth) the longer the shot. that information will help you construct your strategy on how to play certain shots/holes. the second is the expected strokes to hole out from a given distance. (i don't know the actual numbers off the top of my head) but for example, expected shots to hole out from 200 yards using pga tour shotlink data could be 2.25 (again, making that up). from 150 yards it could be 2.05. that data underscores the "expectation" piece of decade which is to more or less allow us to be fair to ourselves on the golf course. simply because we have 125 yards from the middle of the fairway doesn't mean you should always make birdie. i think the example in the video is that from 60 yards pga tour pros only make birdie 1 in 3 times. decade is built around identifying shot patterns and playing to that variance. i hope that helps.
Love it Jerge. Have been following Scott for a little while. Great to see his principles in practice. Great vid. This is a vid to re-watch and re-watch. :)
id like to see the strategy on a different course. from the looks of it, fairways are very wide and there are no penalties for a wayward drive. It would be interesting to see the strategy on holes with more risks, or really tight fairways.
I agree! This was the course that allowed us to come out and we had to roll with it. I think it was a great intro to his stuff without getting too deep.
DECADE has a driving decision tree/flow chart to cover basically every scenario off the tee. This video walks through every step of it with examples. The whole video is interesting but if you start around 15:30 he walks through every scenario. ruclips.net/video/ziCTTnmGPzU/видео.html
@@mangoman2148 thanks man, unfortunately a lot of holes I play lead to the "where the heck are you playing!?!?!" Thailand courses literally have water lining every fairway.

#9 @ coyote ridge IS a tough hole, and you caught in on an easy day! It faces south and the normal condition is a 5-15mph wind in your face. Nice round, hope you played the full 18, its a fun course. Great work w Scott also, had been hearing about him for years locally this sold me on signing up for DECADE.
I love the mindset in this video. Love it. But it got me thinking about knowing my misses. I don’t recall that it was brought up in the decision making on each hole. Is the thought of “What if I miss my “usual miss”” on this hole a valid concern when dissecting each hole with this approach? Thanks y’all.
I believe, on average, if you have a "typical miss" it is all part of a relatively normally distributed shot pattern. You might just not be aiming your shot gun correctly if decent shots are typically right of left of your intended target. Hard question to answer succinctly, but one key is stop wondering "what if I hit my usual miss". Pick a target, commit, get good at centering your shot pattern over it. Good luck!
His whole hitting driver shortens the approach shot makes a lot of sense, I've always played whatever club off the tee that will leave my favourite yardage into the hole, 125 or 95 are preference so is there any times you might have preferred hitting a 3 wood 20 yards shorter leaving a different yardage in or it a case of shorter is always better?
You would have to be an exceptionally bad wedge player for it not to be the case. Tour players and amateurs alike always average less strokes to get down the closer they are to the hole.
Hey George. I'd be really interested in knowing how different you would have played if not following the decade course management strategy. You are a great player and personally I don't think it did much as you can play well enough using George strategy.

I really like watching Finch, but I do think George has the upper hand. Couldn’t find to more friendly golfers thought. Would love to watch that video!
The downside of going past the hole is that you're often left with downhill putts coming back. Is the theory that going longer protects against missing the green on mishits?
While that is true on average, intentionally seeking to leave it below the hole tacks however far you're trying almost directly on your proximity. So if you try to leave it 5 yards short you need to compare a 15' downhill putt to a 30' uphill putt. Once you are considering the entire range of potential outcomes you simply can't try to leave a certain putt...just try to get it as close as you can.

Based on Scott's comments on #1 - he sounds like he's all in with DeChambeau......bomb it for extra distance unless the fairway gets really narrow. But Bryson bombs it no matter what (almost) - LOL.
Nice video good info. But as a tournament player what’s the point of keeping score if you’re “giving” yourself shots out there. You put so much emphasis on an unofficial score. You shot at least +3 lol if it was a tourney you would have been DQ’d. If you’re keeping a card keep an honest one.
I hope ypu played the back nine. The front is easy compared to the las 9 holes. Those little trees are a pain in the rear, you can't hit out of there, 90% are penalties drops.

Nice video good info. But as a tournament player what’s the point of keeping score if you’re “giving” yourself shots out there. You put so much emphasis on an unofficial score. You shot at least +3 lol if it was a tourney you would have been DQ’d. If you’re keeping a card keep an honest one.
*makes double bogey. “So that’s a bogey, we’re still under par” 🐸☕️
First time viewer yeh total nonsense. Every shot counts. 🤡
@@sts3884 Funny, "Every Shot Counts" is Mark Brodie's book that Scott shouted out during the video.
Hey man! How long are you in Texas? I’m in Dallas. Let me join you on the links kind Sir!
George, sllloooooowwww dooowwwwnnnnn and let Scott do his thing.
So bombs away unless hazard is in play. Try to dunk every iron shot. Its just that simple folks
Is he saying you would rather be 80yrds in the rough vs 120yrds in the Fwy?
@Bryan Bros Golf
what bounces are all your wedges?
I hope ypu played the back nine. The front is easy compared to the las 9 holes. Those little trees are a pain in the rear, you can't hit out of there, 90% are penalties drops.
Dude LET the man talk. Holy shhhh 🤫 practice listening more especially to a professional
Woah nowwwwwww
Not woah now,?? you cut him off so much that it is Annoying us, can’t even imagine being Scott!? And you invited him to talk on your channel.
But wait, how long did it take you to drive to THIS COURSE?
what are all the green dots on the yardage book for?
Are you doing a collab with GM Golf?
Of course
Great video George! Coyote Ridge is pretty janky.
