You have absolutely made our day with this video. Our Bosch is 21 years old and this fix worked perfectly. Steam now billowing out when cycle complete. So so so happy - thank you!
EXCELLENT! I Found the exact same problem -- bad joint. It looked like the lead to the relay was too short and didn't pass through the PCB far enough but with a piece of wire, good solder paste and good solder, got it fixed! Thanx!
You are an environmental hero, Scott! If not for your willingness to share your knowledge, there would have been another dishwasher sitting in the landfill.
I have an 11 year old Bosch dishwasher. Lately it was running super long cycle times (4.5 Hours for a normal wash), and no steam cloud at cycle end like it normally does. Error code when running a test cycle was E1. Scott suggested that it was likely this circuit board problem, and that was indeed the case. Well done Scott! Scott also has a site where you can schedule an audio or Zoom call with him to discuss your appliance problem and recommended repair in real time. Excellent value.
Saved me about £500! Different model that was 18 years old, but exactly the same fault. Resoldered the dry joint and it's working perfectly again. Thank you!
Fixed mine like this about six years ago couple months ago something else went wrong another bad solder joint fixed it again thanks for this information from Oxford England 🏴
Steve P. Great video and saved me from replacing the heater/pump on my Bosch Classixx dishwasher. I live in the UK and found the pcb burnt and joint without solder as shwn in the video. However resoldering did not fix the problem as the relay contacts were burnt out. I ordered a replacement relay from CPC in the UK, type No SRM-1c-SL-5VDC, manufactured by IMO. Cost £1.16 plus postage & VAT. It has the same pin connections but also has a normally closed (n/c) pin connection. This can be snipped off and insulated before fitting to the pcb. Dishwasher back working as I write. Brilliant video. Thanks again.
Thankyou Scott- really easy to follow video and described the problem on my 14 year old Bosch dishwasher exactly. The bad news for me was that the circuit board is too far gone to repair. There is way more black soot in mine and there's a "crater" on the board around the pin that is loose. I scraped away the soot, but there's no circuit trace left on the board at all. It looks like an "impact crater" ! Nevertheless - a new control panel is only 1/3rd the price of a new dishwasher, so not a cheap fix but still preferable to buying a new one
Just had the same problem you described in your vid. And with the help of your vid I was able to fix it myself. Many thanks for the info you posted cheers William
Thank you Scott. No other video has pointed out this common fault and its equally straight forward repair. I'm guessing they like to sell new control units.
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel We have a Bosch SHX53T55UC/07 I didn't find any bad solder joints in the panel at the top of the door. It looks like there is a power module in the bottom of the dishwasher. I'm going to check that for bad soldered connections. Is there any way to test the heat pump to confirm if it's good or bad?
Excellent video! I'm getting the E10 on a super silence SMP68M02SK. The error happen right after I ran a cleaning tablet and it's is now not hearing up. I have the controller at the top facing upwards and not in the front as you show here. It is also with the zeolith system. Any thought you might assist me with?
I sure appreciate this video, as I have a very similar Bosch Dishwasher. I was prepared to unhook the dishwasher and remove it from the cabinet to be able to check continuity of the heating element, but after watching this video, I checked the circuit board first, and sure enough, the solder was missing from the relay connection. I added a brass shim patch that fit over all three solder connections that were in common, and so far so good. I suspect that the relay is going bad, and that's why the solder melted in the first place, so I'm prepared to replace the relay if I have trouble in the future. I sure hope my fix was not a bad idea, leading to progressive damage to the circuit board.
similar comment to others here, no hot water in m yDW. I almost ordered a new heater, but thought I should at least give your advice a look. I was astonished to see the tell tale scorch of a burnt out solder fixing. Re soldered ...and now I have a fully functioning DW. Thank you for bothering to upload your video
Thanks Scott.. am hoping this is the problem with my Clasixx desktop washer. Although it might have been better if the actual soldering was captured on the video.
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel it did indeed. Getting to the panel was a bit trickier as it is below the door on this model, but she is back to hot washing once more.
Hi, I opened up my Bosch SMV40C30GB/48 dishwasher, but it looks completely different, then realised its probably only five years old, so I don't think this fix will work for me. Is it likely to be the heat element on the newer models, I fear I may need a new one or a repair. I saw in an earlier post you mentioned it could be the the heater/circulation pump area where the fault lies, but I am not getting an error, it just doesn't heat. thanks
What a clear explanation. My Bosch Dishwasher has just broken down. It doesn't heat up and the error code shown is e02. Is that the same error code you had?
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Yes, I’ve now got one on order, I’ve removed the offending pump and verified the heating element has indeed burnt out. Thanks Scott.
Scott, how did you know the problem was the solder and not the water heater itself? I do not plan to make this repair myself, and I want to point my repair guy to the right fix. That is, I dont' want him to assume we need a new heater if the fix is an easy soldering job. How can I tell which is the problem, the control panel or the heater?
If it’s a fairly new Bosch it would be the heater/circulation pump combination part and you would get an E09 error. If it’s an older Bosch, those heaters don’t go bad, but the controller soldering joint does go bad .
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Thanks for your prompt reply. The dishwasher is 4.5 years old, used only in the summertime, at least up until now. The Machine doesn't have a screen, so I don't have any error messages. So, likely heater or controller?
