    The day Barkov retires will be one the saddest day of my life. What he has done to grow South Florida hockey is legendary. That’s the heart of this panthers team. 😢

      With Viola as Owner, Bill Zito as President and GM, not to mention Coach Maurice and the top core remaining together, I wouldn’t be surprised if they win another one in the near future. I would be shocked if they went to the final three years in a row because it is extremely difficult. My pick for 2025 is either the Rangers or the Oilers for 2025. That said, I would not mind the Panthers doing it again!

    I read somewhere that of the Panthers team in September 2020 when Bill Zito started only 5 players remain: Barkov, Ekblad, Bobrovsky, Lomberg and Luostarinen. Quite an overhaul in less than 4 years. Genius GM:ing.

    I wish the Jackets still had Bill Zito. Dude has had very few misses in his time in Fort Lauderdale and is just an awesome dude and smart person. Even if the Panthers can't resign their core pieces and aren't the same team next year and down the line to come the way he was able to quickly elevate this team from solid competitors to cup winners is a success for that franchise in my opinion.

    It's like being in a state with ZERO INCOME TAX (resulting in players being willing to sign for less with their take home pay being more than even a million + more deal elsewhere leaving you with more money to sigh quality depth is a HUGE advantage in building a cup winning team in a hard cap system like the NHL currently has) AND GOOD WEATHER YEAR ROUND helps tremendously! Who'd have thunk it?!?!

    • @MikeBartner
      @MikeBartner  3 месяца назад +19

      Then why did they f*cking suck for two decades when they also had those "massive" advantages. Every market has their select advantages and almost all of them are massively overblown. For example Zach Hyman literally refused to sign with them in 2015 forcing his way out despite those advantages.

    • @chrisonydotcom2317
      @chrisonydotcom2317 3 месяца назад +2

      As I said in the response that you deleted ( for some reason hmm...) Because they were an expansion team and the first decade was in a non-cap NHL (Meaning the small market teams couldn't compete.) These resulted in a less than impressive resulting the ice. They weren't even great after the new cap era began because no established player wanted to play for them because they sucked (even with the income tax incentive). Through a bit of luck, they were able to acquire a group of players and management that worked!
      If you look at the final four of last year's playoffs, you'll see that 3 of the 4 teams were from states with zero income tax (Dallas, Vegas, Florida) with Carolina being the only exception. That is no coincidence. Building team depth and acquiring big impact guys is the key to building a solid all around team with DEPTH! When depth (and star player as well) are able to be signed for millions less (because the income tax advantage allows them to have a higher take home salary than if they signed for even millions more in non income tax exempt states), it is a HUUGE advantage when building a cap compliant cup contender! Period!
      They basically were a group of "castoffs" (As they were even specifically called during the playoffs a couple seasons ago) that ended up clicking and working. Just like Vegas (another team from another state with no income tax state hmm...) being called the "Misfits". As a result of the team's vast improvement and the tax incentive, they could now attract players that would have never even looked their direction before. You think Tkachuk or Bob would've ever looked at them before their late '10's renaissance? 😂😂
      Not trying to be a douche but it's annoying how many people don't see this and call it out! BTW, actually love this channel! The Isles are my 3rd favorite team besides TOR and FLA.
