    In Sweden we have at least 5 weeks paid leave a year. My company has 6 weeks and my friend who works for the state (?) has 7 weeks... When you are sick you still get paid 80% and when you are pregnant you can stay home for 2 years and still get money... As a person who lives in Sweden i'm always surprised by how shitty America is in so many ways and yet most people think it's the best place in the world.....

    • @alfinou_13targaryen
      @alfinou_13targaryen 4 года назад +11

      it's 5 weeks minimum in France too (I'm French) and some companies have even more than that if they work 39 hours a week (officially it's 35 hours a week but if you work more, you get paid leave days called RTT).

Your country seems to be a lot more caring and understanding..I'm genuinely shocked at this statement...even sick leave here for most companies accumulates based on his many hours you've worked for within the company

    Very entertaining, dear Tiffanie. I was in France in 1976 -1977 and the only job I could get was living with a family as a nanny for the children. I had a B.A. in French and spoke fairly well due to my junior year abroad experience. Foreigners were not even allowed open a bank account, much less work. I took the GMAT in Paris to apply to American graduate schools in business, and got into Syracuse. Always wanted to work in France, never found a way. Bravo for your success, and aren't we all glad that life has changed. The best way to learn French is to watch the news on TV. France 2. Go for it. Since 2000, I only watch TV in French. Bisous et Bonne continuation!

    I lived in Paris for 3 yrs and loved it though it was tough for me. I worked in television production and media in the states and going to Paris on a student visa made finding career employment impossible. I ended up back in the states because changing my visa status just wasn't happening. I've been back to visit since leaving but really want to move back and trying to figure out how to make it happen. I am French and worked in the UK, I had to moved back to France because of Brexit, yes there is benefits working in France but I am job hunting in other countries as the system is at its limit and it will defo falls appart soon, government doesn’t have any money left to support such a system. Sure some jobs will be fine but again make sure of that before going.

    Covering half the cost of travel is compulsory, with exceptions, but essentially an employer's obligation. Tickets restaurants are advantageous form a tax point of view so they are a good benefit to have. The daily amount depends on your salary. Top-up (mutuelle, complémentaire) was recently made compulsory for employers to have available, but you can do it on your own. Work culture: timekeeping in France is poor compared to the UK. Breaks are considered important. You get used to it and knuckle down straight away after. Language: it is essential to learn the language, however much English is spoken in your work environment. It's a matter of respect and also so much of any informal office exchanges are key to fitting in. You can't afford not to. 🙂

    The default rule is that a CDD can only be renewed once, not twice. A general rule is that if your contract is renewed a second time, it automatically converts to a CDI, whatever the paperwork says. Bear in mind that in spite of the default contract being the CDI, there are tons of exceptions. Employers tend to rely on the exceptions to recruit as firing someone in France is really difficult and potentially expensive for an employer. Check the official sources to be informed, "Conditions de travail dans le secteur privé | service-public.fr" www.service-public.fr/particuliers/vosdroits/N492

      Depends on what you're interested in doing tbh. I have a BA in psychology and went into recruiting. A lot of large companies have offices in France and I believe I could have gotten a visa sponsored through my work if I had really wanted to commit to that (transferring through a role I had in Us to go to France, not getting a visa sponsored through a new company in France). Recruiting also pays really well for large companies

      Emeline Alabah Take home pay refers to the percentage of pay you get to keep, as opposed to the portion the government/your employer gets to keep for taxes or benefits. It doesn’t refer to rent or cost of living. Here in the US, the average tax “wedge,” a figure that is sort of hard to arrive at because our tax system is complicated, but that represents the typical tax rate as best as possible, is around 30%.

      www.economie.gouv.fr/particuliers/tranches-imposition-impot-revenu
      Here is a website with a chart which represent the tax rate for a single French person (first chart in pink/purple)
      To read it you have to do math
      Between 0 and 10K a year you py nothing - between 10 and 25K 11% - between 25 and 73K you pay 11‰ on the first 25K plus 30% on the part between 25 and 73 (for exemple if you have 50K a year it's 25*11%+25*30%
      But to be fair there is deductions depending of if you are married, with kids, giving to charities,...
      In average I saw 29% of tax but it's mainly because of the richest 10‰
      Do not hesitate if I'm not clear 😁

    • @ameliefnlt
      @ameliefnlt 4 года назад

      Hey 🙂 for the context I'm French, leaving in the parisian suburb.
      It's really harder to find a job without a degree in France... At least for a French person. Maybe being from abroad gives you an advantage especially if you already have several professional experiences.
      For most of the position you need to have at least a DUT or BTS (2 years program that give you a degree)
      A Master (5years degree) is pretty standard
      Of course it depends of your activity sector and nothing blocks you to become an entrepreneur but it will be really more difficult than for someone who graduated

    how does it work CPF????

    • @fchiarel
      @fchiarel 3 года назад

      As anything administrative in France the basic principles are simple but there are a lot of specific rules that complexifie the execution. Basically, any person in France is eligible to a subvention to be used for a professional training (that includes anything helpful in a professional setting like driving license, entrepreneurship, etc.). The amount depends of the job status, for instance it's 500 euros per year for a full time private sector employee. This subventions is cumulative year after year. The CPF website (or app) has a catalog of all the trainings the subvention can be used for, and you can directly apply to them from it. The whole info is here travail-emploi.gouv.fr/formation-professionnelle/droit-a-la-formation-et-orientation-professionnelle/compte-personnel-formation/ unfortunately in French. Here a small presentation in English: www.provenceimmersion.com/companiescpf/the-training-rights-in-france/
