@@shaanminocha4079 I think people use it a lot more as a shield than a boomerang (it is not a very good shield imo) and thus do not use it to it's full potential
@@shaanminocha4079 from personal experience as a casual player, i thought it was secretly pretty good, but it was far, FAR easier to use with the auto charge chip in Z3. because you can charge it without locking yourself away from the dash. i think thats the thing that turns people off from using the shield boomerang. and if they dont use it in the level, then they have a hard time using it against bosses.
@@eligonzales186 META is short for Most Effective Tactic Available, basically means that if you can go for it, you should go for it. In this case, OP means that, well, PX is considered useless, aka the opposite of META.
Sorry guys, my bottle is limited viewing only. Please line up out the door with your $5 in hand. Awesome video Magnus! I love to see people learning about the awesome stuff this game has to offer. Also, you're a real nice guy for recommending my boss video rather than publishing your own because yours is way cooler lol
The 'most important part of the video' was *music to my earholes.* Outstanding work as always. There's a couple of really cool aesthetic details on Model PX not mentioned in the video as they're not related to its mechanics or gameplay. While in Model PX form: - Vent/Aile makes a typical ninjutsu hand sign while in their idle stance. - Vent/Aile's footsteps don't make any sound.
I tried playing it, but I couldn't do it without a controller, too much if a hassle. Then I got an app that can take inputs from my controller :D I found out that it was a mild virus, so I deleted it. There was no damage done to my phone, but it was definitely malicious, and the app wasn't good anyway, after a while, there would be a ton of input lag :(
13:47 This mindset is why I don't hang around Etrian Odyssey circles anymore. There's an obsession among the established players that you have to use class A with subclass B and never invest in the wrong skills, which then trickles down to the new players who ask for advice and are basically handed keys to the cheesemobiles and never get to experience the game for themselves. Or at least to the few who actually try to experience the game for themselves instead of immediately asking for a party to be made for them.
@@MagnusZero late to the party but sometimes, most of the time honestly, I'm of the mind that says "if you are a slave of the meta, you will never be the finder of stronger, newer meta"
You know, a proper PX run would be incredibly interesting to see with all this in mind. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing this kind of technical understanding applied to a No Damage run in particular for the route changes it'd make. Not saying it has to be you, though. Figure you have projects you want to burn through first.
Zero and ZX series typically just gave you surface level information, then threw you out to the wolves after. So, not knowing a lot of this stuff is completely normal and common.
What a fantastic video, and I haven't even played Mega Man ZX / ZX Advent. I love how this is structured. I was curious, how long from start to finish would you say producing this took you? Did you already have the footage on hand or did you write a script, then go get it? How many words WAS the script anyway? Sorry, I love hearing these things from content creators I enjoy, as to perhaps learn a thing or two myself for reference. I've always wanted to make an actually good guide.
Glad you enjoyed this. It's hard to pinpoint exactly how long it took, since my full time job prevents me from working on my videos for long periods, but if I were to add up the hours spent per day from start to finish, it took about a week and a half. If I were able to work on this full time, I'd imagine it'd only take less than a week. But time aside, my usual guide creation process is: craft a first draft of the script (the skeleton, if you will) to get a rough idea of how I'll structure and segment the guide, and this by extension allows me to know exactly what I need to record. Once all the gameplay footage is recorded, this allows me to revise the script into its final draft, and make sure everything's accounted for before I record my voice clips and edit everything together. The script for this video in particular was roughly around 3000 words.
@@MagnusZero That's amazing. Thank you so much for the perspective. I don't think I've ever written a script that long but this really makes me want to try. I can see that you put a lot of work into this and it made me really want to play and beat the games. I have the Zero and ZX collections, I just didn't think it felt right for me to skip past mega man classic and X and jump into them. Unless I don't need to beat EVERY game of those two series in order to play Zero and ZX.
I'm flattered to hear this inspired you to play them, haha. The series are quite loosely connected, to be honest (only just establishing that they're continuations of the timeline). Classic was hardly, if ever, referenced in the X series, and only a few tidbits of lore of X are referenced in Zero. So, you can still follow the Z/ZX storyline without knowing a thing about the two series that preceded it.
Model PX is one of my favorite forms to use. My only gripe with this is you can't crawl across the ceiling when gripping on it. Other than that, it's fun to use to spam the kunais. But I never got the hang of using the shuriken loop as effectively as you have. Shadow dash is straight fun to use, too.
"Returning from Megaman Zero is the Shadow Dash" Aaaand I'm sold. Sold! No, seriously. I mean, even as a casual player I didn't have any particular bias towards Px; I just assumed I wasn't playing him right because I wasn't yet trained in using his shuriken like the Shield Boomerang yet. But the fact that he has the Shadow Dash means that he, as you stated later, can literally _create himself openings_ to fight bosses in ways no other form can. That was LITERALLY why people used the Shadow Dash back in MMZ3, annd it was bonkers for that reason. I didn't even _realize,_ as a casual player, that Px had it. So, yeah, sold. Also, agreed about the sword. I mean, Phantom had one, originally, and it wouldn't have to function the way Hx and ZX's swords do.
Agreed! Personally, as a kid, I used Px alot because well, you can be a ninja. Good stuff to a gen z tween. But I never used overdrive because I didn't know what it did besides draining energy, so I never knew about the shadow dash.
@@themorrigan1312 I knooow, right? My favorite was Fx because A: I didn't know how to unlock X yet, and B: I just loved the idea of being able to edit the direction of your bullets to be super versatile. Still, I'm glad we both got to know about the Shadow Dash now! I certainly want to try using Px after this, he sounds even more fun than I thought he could be XD
The Zero games were what lured me into the franchise, and I took to the sword in those games, as the Z-Saber was powerful and, especially with EX skills, flexible. Going into ZX games, Model ZX and Model LX became my go-to's for melee damage...but I loved the design and spam-ability of PX, and its shadow dash ability is something I loved back in the Zero games...although, I didn't know about the special traits of the models' overdrives until prior to facing Omega... At any rate, regardless of how effective PX was for me, just being in the form throughout a level felt good...I didn't have to speedrun, or no-hit run, or anything...just look awesome. I haven't played the games in quite some time, but it's only for a lack of anything new and worthwhile to do.
i like the zero games, but i hate the "you gotta go for perfect" mentality those games have. zero 1 is probably the worst offender, where you can basically make the game a joke in therms of difficulty just by using the intended elf system. i think inafune got too high on his own fumes, yeah the megaman games were always dificult, but there's no need to punish the player for not playing optimaly all the time.
It would've been cool, and also made more canonical sense, if we got Phantom's sword instead of the shield at lv2 charge. Maybe have it work like Battle Network's Step Sword, where you perform a sort of "blink" or "teleport" move in the direction of the D-pad, and anything caught in the blink's path takes dmg alongside the sword swing's hitbox. It could maybe work in the air too like model Hx's air dash, except it would cost energy obviously(which is fair), and that could've made for a more streamlined, more useful, and more aesthetically pleasing kit.
I only discovered the benefit of close-up firing towards the end of my first playthrough, and it's something I do appreciate. Reminds me of the wonderful Triple Blade from MM10. But all in all, yes, this was the form I used the least. Certainly look forward to experimenting some more on inevitable (because I enjoyed the game a lot) replays. Nice guide!
as somebody who played the first game like, only two years ago, and unlocked PX first, and used it for a lot of the game; despite being somebody who never truly mastered the form just due to my fear of using shuriken, i actually got quite a bit of use with it throughout the stages, just because i figured out how good the kunai were if you mashed them and cancelled them. and during bosses, id figured id just use the shadow dash and low damage to do a defensive/agile mosquito strategy with some bosses. and i completely agree with the opinion on speedrunning culture, lol. no hit runs are also a form of technical play that i think deserve just as much respect, and model P is great for that sort of technical playstyle. great video
Hah, I've been waiting for this! Model PX was my favorite when I played this as a kid. I always thought it was so much more difficult when I would try to beat the game only using it too.
One of my favorite things about watching your guides is when I hear you give a piece of advice that I figured out on my own. Because that makes me feel like playing these games on a professional level isn't so far away. Oh yeah the thing I figured out myself, activating/ deactivating overdrive in quick succession. And I had no idea about shadow dash in this game. Thanks dude!
I think it's really cool how PX splits the Shield Boomerang up into Boomerang and Shield as it's charge attacks, and funnily enough is misunderstood just like the S.Boomerang
12:28 shoutouts to Master, the legend Very eye opening video overall, even as someone who already liked PX I learned quite a bit here. I didn't realize the Kunai damage stacking could shred bosses *that* fast, and learning more efficient use of the Shadow Dash is invaluable for whenever I inevitably replay ZX. Seems like Speedrun glorification and enforcing fast play as if it was gospel is a plague that infests any game fandom I enter (lol FE). Big ups once again for doing what you can to keep that elitism out of your circle.
An amazing video on model PX. It has always been one of the models I struggled the most with, but seeing this video makes me feel inspired to go back and try it out again! One thing I'm wondering about though is how you found out the hit priority values for PX's attacks. I've been trying to look around places like gamefaqs for info on it (as well as the hit priority values for the other models in the game), but with no luck. I just assumed they abandoned the mechanic after the zero-series.
I’ll be honest. I disliked PX until I’ve learned of the Shadow Dash. Once a friend pointed it out to me, I started playing with it more. I’m still not that good with it, but I appreciate what they tried to do with PX.
In fact model Px isn't bad, but is kinda low in dmg until you discover dmg stack, a normal/casual player will not find the necessity of using dmg stack/combos with it being another useful models and more strong in elementals besides Px, cool thing is that Px or well, "Model P" gets a buff if you're with Ash tho, that shield does a lot of dmg
Glad to see model Px get some love. I never really did get deep into the Meta of Zero and ZX, but Inalways did love using all the tools it gave to experiment with. Including Px. It’s honestly really fun to use, especially the charge shot. (Never knew it could be used as another shield boomerang though-)
First and foremost, I have to get this out of the way: *PURPLE GANG RISE UP!* Okay, now on to the ACTUAL comment - Once again you impress us with Mega Man tech that the vast majority never knew, myself included. I'd be down for more of these guides - Please teach us more, o master! Unless there's nothing else that you could teach us, then in that case I'd understand, lol. But I do have two questions, however, if you don't mind: - Would you recommend keeping Quick Charge equipped for Model PX? The boss battles were so frantic and went by so fast that I couldn't tell whether it was active or not. - How did you even find out about these techniques? Did you just experiment until something useful was found, through the internet, or simply by accident? That also applies to the X series and Zero series tech. Anyway, have a good day, sir.
Quick charge is definitely important so that you can quickly combo shuriken after kunai and just throwing the shuriken in general because it's a strong move. But it's not necessary at all, you usually still have ample time to release the shuriken before the boss's s are up after the kunai. ik you were asking Magnus but something I'd like to say for the second question is the idea "where there's a will, there's a way." Of course that's not true 100% of the time but that's how I worked out stuff like how to beat Serpent 2 with PX and achieve other feats that one normally wouldn't consider trying. That combined with simply fighting bosses over and over and looking over their fights critically to try to think of all the possible ways you can take them down are where a lot of the creativity and fun in ZX come from for me.
11:48 this mentality right here it's exactly why I don't interact with most communities of games that I like anymore . If you're not playing competitively or using top tier strats at all times you're supposedly doing it wrong? I like learning all the in and outs of how things in games work but that doesn't mean i need to apply everything at all times. Sometimes people just want to have fun that doesn't necessarily mean playing according to tier list or playing optimal. More people need to understand there are more than just one way of having fun and one person's idea of fun doesn't invalidate anothers. nor should anyone Force their style of play on others. TLDR I agree
I actually quite like using Model PX. I'm not good with it at all, but I enjoy doing the shuriken loop because I find it funny that something like that exists in a Mega Man game. On top of that, despite being COMPLETELY unable to beat Purprill with it, I do enjoy using Model PX to just dash past enemies that I don't feel like dealing with. Plus, thanks to this video, I think I now have a way to get the fourth sub tank in the game on each of my save files. I always had trouble with getting it because of how many enemies get in the way of the area its at, but I think I can get to the area in a reasonable time to break the blocks in the way. Thanks for the info Magnus Zero
Wow, I never thought model Px was really useless, but I don't think I ever gave it a chance. I feel like the reason I haven't enjoyed my zx playthroughs as much as I could is because I just used zx and hx the whole time. This really opened up my eyes! Keep up the great work Magnus!
Model PX is how I beaten Omega on hard (Model X doesnt count) and all I did was overdrive charge attack spam in that one. I love PX's Kunais cause of the DPS even if its small. So even if from a low skill I consider him fun still. My least favorite model is Model L personally.
I never used Model PX much when I played MMZX, probably mostly because HX and ZX seemed to be able to handle everything just fine, and I didn't end up using Overdrive much at all in any form, though I probably should have made more use of it. Besides, I had made the (incorrect) assumption that, being a ranged attack, the kunai would only be able to hit once against a boss before triggering its i-frames, rather than being able to deal four hits from a burst before doing so. Good to see this, to get a better idea of what it can actually do.
When I first tried this game I didn't have any prejudice about forms or anything, and didn't know this reaction from the fanbase. And PX was my second fave to use after Harpuia. Great analysis man!
Anyone using the excuse "It's bad because I have to get good with it" is literally just highlighting their own ineptitude and shouldn't even be concidered a valid arguement.
Interesting video. i agree, that styling and playing the technical stuff in its own is very reward and just adds more things to enjoy in the game. Definitely will try Px more. I never thought it was bad tbh, and just one of the more technical ones, especially because of shuriken. Lx is the one I consider the most meh, and even then it's insane at the water stages it's supposed to be used in. HX and FX are the the main ones I use, but I would definitely like to see what you can do with FX against bosses, since I mainly just abuse the buster manipulation for stage runs lol. Plus I always swap between all the biometals, so I don't usually do single model runs. Kinda wish it was something we can just do from the start of the game.
rock solid. Inti creates does good stuff, all the models have at least a little something going on to appreciate I'd say. in my playthrough I did when the collection came out I made a point of giving every one of them at least a little bit of a shot, and ended up appreciating how PX and FX can let you pretty easily cruise through some of the levels (i'm no where near you're skill level though, of course.) keep up the good work, you're super encouraging and the love you have for these games really shines through!
I remember being a dumb kid and not knowing how to let go of a ceiling when you grabbed on. Apparently Down + Jump just didn’t come to me back then, and it made me dislike the Model at first... until I saw that utter stream of kunai you can get from mashing both attack buttons. The level of detail for even the more obscure stuff in these guides is something I’m really liking, in addition to everything else. Even people like me who know the games a bunch still don’t know some of the more hidden stuff. Case in Point, I really like the inclusion of the combo values of attacks in there since this stuff is harder to find on the internet compared to the Zero games(probably because instead of 0-7, it’s 0 to somewhere in the hundreds in ZX so figuring it out all yourself is impossible). I want to bring some attention to the combo values though, because PX is pretty interesting. When looking at the complete hit priority chart of all Biometals, PX’s kunai and shuriken charge are right in the middle of it. This means it comes after the uncharged and charged buster shots and all charge attacks, lvl 1 and 2, from the other Guardian Models, but before all the saber attacks like rolling slash and saber combos. What this means is: X Double Buster, ZX Buster, and OX Double Buster(the ice/elec projectiles too) -> Kunai + Shuriken works. Lvl 1 charges like Ice platform, FX Punch, or electric ball -> Kunai + Shuriken works. Hell, Ice Platform/Electric ball -> FX punch/double punch -> Kunai + Shuriken works. It’s hard, but it can happen. Ice Dragon -> Kunai + Shuriken works and hilariously, HX tornado -> Shuriken works(The kunai hit priority overlaps with the last hits of HX tornado). Kunai + Shuriken -> any saber attack works. Yes, rolling slash included, which already combos into the grounded slashes. And what I mean by “works” is like EX skills in Z3 and 4 combing into each other. I don’t mean throwing out one of those attacks, waiting for the s to disappear, switching models, and then using the next part of the combo. PX’s attacks serve as a smooth transitional part of the combo from the buster and elemental charges to the sabers because of how fast the attacks come out and how you can dash and have full control when doing them. They do a nice job at keeping the combo going too, whether you’re using both attacks or just one or the other, especially for OX buster or FX punch that lock you in place and make it a little more iffy to get up there with a saber. Kind of wish the shield was more usable for this, but it’s a good boon for just using PX solo.
I dunno anything about the meta, but I usually switched between the Models depending on the context. When exploring new locales, I use Model Lx to see if there’s any hidden items I’m missing (and double check with Px to see hidden passages and doors). When I’m retreading old ground, I use Hx for mobility. While fighting ground-bound Pseuderoids (aside from Flammole, because I didn’t know he could be cheesed just by making him turn forever), I use Px to avoid hitting weakspots. If I’m fighting any other boss (aside from the giant Mettaur), I’ll use Zx. Then if there’s an enemy at a distance and I’m not feeling like using Zx, I use Fx. One combo I use while playing as Hx is that if a ledge is too high to reach with air dashing, I’ll transform into Px at the last second to grab onto it so that I can jump up.
Even if I'm not a person who can manage to do all of this stuff, I always found it best with 'assassinating' specific lower-level enemies and using it to blitz across stages to specific items I want, before I destroy everything with a heavier biometal. So it always came out to me as the 'get to where you want, then reveal yourself and strike' biometal even before this. I always playedwith certain biometals filling certain niches of my gameplay- Not always the best uses, but they are how I love playing through the game to- well, use all the biometals. ZX: Standard play, I'm usually confident in my understanding of it's simple slash and dash gameplay style to obliterate lower level foes. HX: In areas with little ground to stand or tons of platforming speed, this guy is IMPOSSIBLE to match by other biometals in my playthroughs. FX: A bit more niche, but I always love using it to take out foes directly above me or at odd angles below me. LX: I want to use this biometal more, but as it stands it's my 'basic enemy killer' due to it's jump-slash's damage killing most lesser enemies fast. PX: let's see you hit me when I'm already halfway across the stage you stupid helmet-wearing prick
Props for a really solid run down on a form that I definitely didn’t give a fair run back in 07 when I first played ZX. Admittedly, my favorite part of PX was having access to the Z-Knuckle ceiling grab back then, but this has inspired me to go back and polish some fancy moves.
Probably not. I just had a lot to say about PX specifically because of the controversy around it. One of my future guides will be an all biometal guide, since the majority of forms aren't as deep as the likes of PX, HX and OX to have their own videos.
lol people that thought they where cool using Model X, but forgot that Phantom's kunai doesn't proc I-frames on bosses like Model W's dragonlike form, you can legit burst it in a few seconds with it.
Awesome video! Now I was thinking, what about making Biometals tutorial? Guide for each model, pros and cons, playstyle and stuff. I think it would be awesome and super informative
These videos are great, guides that elaborate on how to leverage the damage stacking mechanics really help show how many improvements ZX made under the hood.
PX is on one hand one of my favorites since I'm used to a more "traditional" way of playing Megaman games and PX breaks that mold in a way, though at the same time It was my least used in my playthrough of ZX before I decided to stop cause losing to Serpent in Phase 2 got annoying, because of the cutscenes, but in ZX-A I find it to personally be heavily outclassed because of A-Trans letting you switch tactics on the fly more readily thanks to having the Psudoroids as well as the models with only F falling behind P since for some reason I can't use it's special function to change how shots fly with a Pro-Controller for the switch (and the Joycons start Tokyo Drifting when I try to use them so using the touch screen is effectively a no go). Edit: The other way I look at PX when compared to HX is, is PX is sort of like Vergil or Dante where you have to use their full kit to get the most out of them, while HX is kinda like Nero, since while there is a night and day difference between someone who's good at the game and someone who just picked it up (In Nero's case that's Revving Red Queen), HX and Nero can kinda just brute force their way through stuff and still be fairly effective.
Yknow PX gets too much flank when everyone avoids mentioning the shadow dashing and the fact the shield does damage. No literally, I didn’t even know either of those things bc I went under the assumption that only the Kunai’s and Shuriken jump was all I could do for combos. I’m glad you shed light on this because now I personally want to try out a PX run myself-right after I’m done with my no damage run, I’m in the middle of that right now-because I played ZX like what, 5 times now-not counting my newbie normal mode playthroughs-since I discovered it via the collection and only used PX once. I already enjoyed your content for focusing more on Zero and ZX bc I was getting tired of Classic and X content-no offense to those series, their still good and have their own tech- since the Z/ZX deserve more credit and recognition for making the platformer formula nearly perfect-would’ve been perfect if capcom didn’t rush inti with these games-and there’s still new things to try out and discovered with these games. I really hope that more people give model PX credit, especially when it comes to speed run circles. Obviously, PX won’t be used in speed runs and the more nerfed Model P in advent will still be used, I just hope people at least acknowledge “yeah PX is good but we don’t use him for speed runs since he’s slow” or “We use Model P more then in the original game but only for movement, he’s actually more nerfed then his ZX counter part and we don’t use him for bosses” cause this is other stigma added to already more Z/ZX that should stop. Like it’s bad when the ZX and ZXA GDQ runs stated this info and a lot of people saw those games from there! (Mind you the advent commentary sucked but PX was flat out called bad the ZX run which was BETTER commentary then whatever the fuck advents was) TDRL: sorry for the giant rant since I’m just a random person but I love your content and this vid is def one of my favs. I hope PX gets more uses. I’ll definitely tell my friend circles how good he is and I’m definitely gonna do a run of my own soon even though I unfortunately can’t record outside of 30 second switch videos but I’ll post my findings somewhere when I do it.
THANK YOU! I really hate people who hate something because "it is too hard so it is bad", I know this is unrelated to the video, but this mentality doesn't just apply to characters, people apply this mindset to games as well, and it fucking hurts man, a good example I can think of is X6, I love X6 and people who say "it is bad if you have to be good at it" is just plain wrong.
I feel like tge difference between PX and X6 is that PX is just "Why put in effort when Unga Bunga quicker and easier?" and X6 is a rushed game that's constantly fighting you and has poorly implemented/explained design like High Max being invincible to regular buster shots and the nightmare system in its entirety
Might I say I appreciate that you pointed out the mindset some of the megaman fan base players have. Might I add that those clips at the end were clean.
Out of all the ways to play the game, it boggles my mind how people still say there is only one way to play it. Honestly I've always found that the game encourages you to experiment with the models, to find your preferred boss killer, your preferred stage runner, your preferred secret hunter. The devs gave you a bunch of tools, all strong and weak in their own way. Sure when you get down to brass tax for numbers some outclass the others, but then you have to take into account *how* the model deals its damage. My list of Models to use was always: Stage runners: PX/HX Boss Fighters: PX/ZX/FX Secret Hunters: LX/HX ...Fun runs: OX (I like to cheat it in at the start and try to maintain Overdrive as long as possible to feel like I am playing MMZ. on a side note I wonder if there is any code or mod people have made to lower OX's damage output to something more reasonable for a less broken OX only run...)
I’m always happy to see a new Magnus video :) Any chance you’d talk about FX anytime? I admit I never understood its uses aside from the obvious puzzle and elemental stuff
I've used model PX before. It took a little bit to get the hang of it, but not long and I went in with the mindset of "Phantom is a ninja, PX is gonna be the same." And he's one of my favorite models.
Almost more than the video and gameplay you present I just like the sound/balanced arguments you make. I'm still chugging through zx myself but one of these days I'll get the zero titles. And I'll refer to your videos for help! Thanks for making them.
"Meta game bullying" is a really good term I hope catches on in some form. I'm also a "play however you want" person, but all to often for games people use personal experience and not objective facts when talking about the meta of a game. Yes, there's a level of subjectivety to it, but more often than not it's the crux of people's argument. At worse it ends at you looking like you're telling people how to play. There's certainly elitists like that out there, but, again, people like us often get lumped in with them just for wanting a serious and informed discussion. Not to say we're infallable but that's where the discussion comes in.
I didn't even know it was regarded as bad. It is probably the form i used the most when just traversing the maps, to get rid of enemis easily. HX obviously gets the most use time cause of the aerial capability facilitating much of the travels, but when i was not trying to avoid everything, just attacking everything, PX was THE form. LX is also very good because of it's powerful attacks, but to be really mobile it needs more skill than i can muster. So aside from ZX, and HX mostly because of aerial dashes to reach dificult places, PX it was my favorite.
The meta has been Hx for as long as I can remember, and I've seen what it can do in action so I definitely get it, but I'll always prefer mowing everything down with ZX.
if people think playing a game in the fastest way possible is mostly the right way of playing it, they should just go play Sonic games lmao . . Great video btw :D Px has always been one of my favorite forms to use for general stages (i tend to use X/Zx/Lx for bosses), and this video taught me how to better utilize Px's kit for bosses. i still need to practice more on the shuriken loop though (Zero series is more forgiving in this regard bcs there's no energy gauge)
My problem when it comes to ZX is that I don’t make much use of Overdrive unless I’m using Model O because it has unlimited Overdrive. Recently I have been using Overdrive on Model H, but only during battles with Fistleo and Flammole because those tornadoes rip them to shreds. I had no idea how powerful Model P’s Overdrive was. This is definitely a great thing to know!
Thanks for showing me how cool PX can be. There's no way in hell I was doing that on the DS. I think my favorite was FX (Fire Guy right) because it gave use programmable shots. I love the idea of having a smart gun.
My theory is that the devices they're mimicking aspects of zero and x and not the actual guardians with whatever fragments of the guardians that was managed to be recovered and that's why the next version is going to have zero absorb and upgrade himself with the biometals biomedals by themselves have a moveset like that but zero is about continuously editing his own code so the biometals since they're a living metal would grow and thanks to zeros component of editing his own code IE learning and taking movesets and becoming more skillful those two things combined would probably allow zero to edit mix and match amplify and evolve aspects of the biometals but only in a only in his fused state this means a badass zero that looks much better imagine zero upgrading his hands with PX and his optics with PX or at least part of his optics allowed to get all those abilities and they build these level up like a Pokemon level one Pokemon that's a starter type and eventually get champion level Pokemon etc etc except for the move set and if they're going to make the next zero game like that then there's going to be like 50 mini bosses 10 sub bosses and then 15 no no no 10 sub bosses for each boss and then 15 bosses and then there's a animal bosses which is kind of like not an actual boss but more like a matcha that you have to fight anyway if they're going to do this it's going to be like worldwide and you got to make it really big that way zero can go into different missions and you have to have many different enemies and make it so as you progress in the campaign the enemies upgrade themselves as well but not as efficiently as zero I mean zero would upgrade himself potentially to basically be shadow pH with a z saber basically Ninja gaiden but more badassand so on and so on for each biometal what do you think of my idea oh and then there's certain states that you can customize where you can unlock different states that are like a biomerge between different states like ninja and modifier and and then ninja and that fire guy and then so forth and so on and what I'm trying to say is if they're going to make another zero series on to the series where it's like the final zero game they got to go all out the game's going to have to be very big I mean it's going to have what feels like a normal game and then and as it's finishing the screen blanks out and it says chapter one finished all the way up to like chapter they're 15 chapters and it felt like a full complete game finishing only chapter one now I mean a DS game I mean final fantasy DS type feel length level and diversity because this is a zero that upgrades himself and progresses and becomes better and you transferable over each chapter and depending on how well you did if you get 100% over everything you clicked everything on that chapter then you would transfer to the next chapter all that stuff it would actually affect that chapter position antivirus system you got prevented the sigma virus from finding out other things so it's going to try to go a different route but in that route you are report upgraded offenses and all the other stuff so sigma is having extremely hard time getting to it so now you going to have to defeat a couple bosses and get there first instead of having to do a Carmen sandiego b******* moment where Carmen has the thing already and it's not the leave and you got the fat battle it to make it incomplete or something all I'm saying is that make it set the game has a branching path and there's like multiple endings and if you want it more diverse you're going to have to use the online version of it and which it goes to the server and picks out the different now you know what I'm saying is have a offline version campaign branching paths and then the online version that gives you way more content and then downloadable content that actually adds on to it instead of you know making the game like oh this is a neat side thinking it's not part of the campaign if you got to make DLC for a zero game make it that way it just adds on to the game even if you have to make it like us City builder type thing that has part of the you know component to the thing where it's your your farming your city building you're going on missions but make it sorry the missions are the main thing and the city building is the main thing and the farming thing is a neat side thing but it's not like a mini aspect it's more like a thing that you don't need to do but it will actually benefit your people more efficiently because you're actually getting food and resources and seven have to send out people to work hire Farmers eventually you hire permanent farmers and you don't have to do it yourself anymore and then you can buy a bunch of different plots of land and have those guys farm those different things like crystals and food and materials and etc etc etc etcboils down to missions are complex world is diverse and vast the story can change depending on your actions and choices and how you deal with the enemy etc etc etc etc that way zero would have a complete nail in the coffin feeling because this one will be extremely extremely extremely replayable and and when they when Nintendo or whatever whoever that's in charge of it should only tell that you're working on it when you're on the last legs of the project that way the hype gets hyped people don't get you know hyper about it and demand the game to come out and then we'll come out with the crappy MC crappy thing like the last game that came out because people were going when it's going to come out when it's going to come out when it's going to come out when it's going to come out and Nintendo felt pressured so instead of going oh we'll see how many people want the game and make it a rush job towards the end at the last leg of the game where you're doing the finishing touches then start hyping saying we're doing finishing touches we'll work on the thingies and this and this and this still each thing is going to take off a year or two to finish unless some a****** hacks our system and we're forced to fix the issues of the game or Savage it and then start from scratch you know that type of thing because I'm sick and tired of when we're about to be told about a really nice game that's supposed to be diverse it's supposed to be interact it's supposed to be all this other stuff like cyberpunk the cyberpunk game that's what it is sorry I completely forgot about me but the cyberpunk game it was supposed to come out and it was supposed to have a really long story it's supposed to be diverse and depending on what mode you had an easy medium and hard and how long it would be I want a game that would be exactly what they promised maybe even more because they would surprise themselves this is why they should only tell the public about the game went on the last bit when they're just like literally tweaking and getting someone that's has to put their coffee cup just the right way and stuff like that review it and like using a horse hair or something to paint their a tiny part of zero when you're using a cabins canvas the size of the building or something anyway I'm using text to speech so if there's any strange words you know what it is it's just a system mistaking what I'm saying and trying to put in stuff anyway peace out.
thank you so much for this video. I enjoyed it and appreciated it a lot. your style of teaching is great and I have been wanting you to do ZX videos in your style, so this is a dream come true for me. thanks so much man, Rock On!
Honestly, my gripe with PX/P is that its only weapons are the kunai... like, I get it Phantom was mostly known for these but he was carrying a sword with him around and had several attacks in his moveset utilizing it, and if they really didn't want PX to turn into "ZX with extra steps" they could have made basic combo more limited and instead of giving us charged slash give it some technique as a result of charge (maybe for e.g. smaller and mobile version of his clone attack) but overall I feel like all alternate Biometal forms in ZX and ZX Advent feel a bit lackluster compared to the characters they're based on and the moves they had as bosses, giving me an annoying feeling dev wanted to tunnel players into using mainly "protag" biometal for combat making it the most fun for combat and others were more so your metroidvania "unlock more areas" upgrades, well I have my ideas for how to rework all of these (and with Exception of FX/F all would be getting 2 types of attack with their weapon) but maybe would need to check what Overdrive in ZX can do to biometals as I barely used this feature also it would be the awfully long thing for a comment, tho given already my idea for a main change I'd do to PX
Model PX is like shield boomerang, everyone calls it trash, but when put into the right hands, it’s incredible
Shield Boomerang is great lol , idk why it gets hate
@@shaanminocha4079 I think people use it a lot more as a shield than a boomerang (it is not a very good shield imo) and thus do not use it to it's full potential

The 'most important part of the video' was *music to my earholes.*
Outstanding work as always.
There's a couple of really cool aesthetic details on Model PX not mentioned in the video as they're not related to its mechanics or gameplay.
While in Model PX form:
- Vent/Aile makes a typical ninjutsu hand sign while in their idle stance.
- Vent/Aile's footsteps don't make any sound.
I always liked model px for its design

This mindset is why I don't hang around Etrian Odyssey circles anymore.
Unfortunately, countless gaming communities are plagued with metagame slavery (especially the FGC). Truly disheartening.
I can't deny that as an Etrian Odyssey player. Its even more evident on the Nexus.
While the cheesemobile sounds fun, I wanna try and find the keys on my own.
I will eventually return to ZX to do more no damage runs, so yeah, PX is a run I want to do when the time arises.
Oh boy, a guide and a boss rush in one. You're spoiling us!
Edit: Oh my god the Flammole dance is back!

Every time I watch these guides I get better at the game. Love this game, thanks.
Nice guide!
as somebody who played the first game like, only two years ago, and unlocked PX first, and used it for a lot of the game;
despite being somebody who never truly mastered the form just due to my fear of using shuriken, i actually got quite a bit of use with it throughout the stages, just because i figured out how good the kunai were if you mashed them and cancelled them.
and during bosses, id figured id just use the shadow dash and low damage to do a defensive/agile mosquito strategy with some bosses.
and i completely agree with the opinion on speedrunning culture, lol.
no hit runs are also a form of technical play that i think deserve just as much respect, and model P is great for that sort of technical playstyle. great video

Hah, I've been waiting for this! Model PX was my favorite when I played this as a kid. I always thought it was so much more difficult when I would try to beat the game only using it too.
This really makes me appreciate PX even more. I didn't even know I could deal damage with the Barrier.
Just learning and perfecting px's potential is literally mastering the whole game
People call Model PX bad? They clearly don't know a lot about the _Meta_ game *cough*
12:28 shoutouts to Master, the legend
Very eye opening video overall, even as someone who already liked PX I learned quite a bit here.
Phantom's form is my favourite tbh
It makes me feel like Sakuya Izayoi from Touhou
It tears through series of enemies set next to each other in stages
First and foremost, I have to get this out of the way: *PURPLE GANG RISE UP!*
Okay, now on to the ACTUAL comment - Once again you impress us with Mega Man tech that the vast majority never knew, myself included.
I'd be down for more of these guides - Please teach us more, o master! Unless there's nothing else that you could teach us, then in that case I'd understand, lol.
But I do have two questions, however, if you don't mind:
- Would you recommend keeping Quick Charge equipped for Model PX?
@@Meta_XZ Ohohohoho, wasn't expecting a reply from the PX master himself, thanks.

Damn Magnus is giving PX some well-deserved respect.
I'd love to take a look at Meta_X's elusive Bottle too.
Some say he locks up that bottle like it's the most valuable artifact
When I was a kid I *exclusively played as model P? I didn’t know it was considered to be the “bad” this is so sad
Omg so there *CAN* be funny bloopers for more serious/technical sounding videos like this? Nice.
Thanks Magnus, love that Boss Battle showcase. Model Px is one of my fave Models since I love Phantom the most among the guardians.
Before I learned of Ox, Px was my favorite. Now model Px is still my favorite to use in the main story.
Thank you for doing justice to my personal favorite biometal! I would love to see a guide for model F or L sometime as well.
What this means is:
X Double Buster, ZX Buster, and OX Double Buster(the ice/elec projectiles too) -> Kunai + Shuriken works.
Don't worry. My next ZX guide covers the combo system in-depth.
@@MagnusZero Awesome.
Great video, thought me a lot.
Will you make a guide like this for every form?
Probably not. I just had a lot to say about PX specifically because of the controversy around it. One of my future guides will be an all biometal guide, since the majority of forms aren't as deep as the likes of PX, HX and OX to have their own videos.
lol people that thought they where cool using Model X, but forgot that Phantom's kunai doesn't proc I-frames on bosses like Model W's dragonlike form, you can legit burst it in a few seconds with it.
Magnus that important part of the video was nothin but bars. Whens your EP?
Awesome video!
Now I was thinking, what about making Biometals tutorial? Guide for each model, pros and cons, playstyle and stuff. I think it would be awesome and super informative
That's literally on my to-do list already, lol
@@MagnusZero nice, I'll look forward to it
These videos are great, guides that elaborate on how to leverage the damage stacking mechanics really help show how many improvements ZX made under the hood.
PX is on one hand one of my favorites since I'm used to a more "traditional" way of playing Megaman games and PX breaks that mold in a way, though at the same time It was my least used in my playthrough of ZX before I decided to stop cause losing to Serpent in Phase 2 got annoying, because of the cutscenes,
but in ZX-A I find it to personally be heavily outclassed because of A-Trans letting you switch tactics on the fly more readily thanks to having the Psudoroids as well as the models with only F falling behind P since for some reason I can't use it's special function to change how shots fly with a Pro-Controller for the switch (and the Joycons start Tokyo Drifting when I try to use them so using the touch screen is effectively a no go).
Finally someone gets it!
People out there really sleeping on My boi Phantom.
I got my First Level 3 victory with this model, after all.
I love this, and other your videos. I would love to see other bio/livemetals guides. Got a lot of info from it, maybe I'll even revisit ZX later :)
Im happy that someone else feels the same about model p bc its awesome
that omega fight was incredible (especially since i'm only really familiar with the ZXA iteration of Px)
Did... Did you just Spark Mandrill Flammole with PX Overdrive and shurikens?
I love it.
ahh yes megaman zx the only game i buy because i saw rule34 of Aile first
thas crazy
1) I'm delighted to find a video talking about a small but fun and important aspect of the meta
2) multiple kunai throw go brrrrrr, so I agree already
Honestly PX is my favorite, and I didn't even know most people hated it.
My list of Models to use was always:
Stage runners: PX/HX
Boss Fighters: PX/ZX/FX
Secret Hunters: LX/HX
...Fun runs: OX (I like to cheat it in at the start and try to maintain Overdrive as long as possible to feel like I am playing MMZ. on a side note I wonder if there is any code or mod people have made to lower OX's damage output to something more reasonable for a less broken OX only run...)
Alternate title: local purple ninja proves that the shield bomerang ain't garbage
Do you mean Ninja Gaiden?
Almost more than the video and gameplay you present I just like the sound/balanced arguments you make.
I'm still chugging through zx myself but one of these days I'll get the zero titles. And I'll refer to your videos for help! Thanks for making them.
I would have used this form way more if it always had shadow dash, but thats probably way broken 😂
Not to say we're infallable but that's where the discussion comes in.
i do love using PX anywhere outside bosses until i learned that it can that easily remove the flame of Prometheus
The meta has been Hx for as long as I can remember, and I've seen what it can do in action so I definitely get it, but I'll always prefer mowing everything down with ZX.
if people think playing a game in the fastest way possible is mostly the right way of playing it, they should just go play Sonic games lmao
.
That Flammole strat is one of the cheekiest things I've seen in a Megaman game goddamn
Got this video recommended to me and I ahd no idea the combat in this game had such depth when I loved this game as a kid. Guess I'm revisiting it!
It's nice to do a guide for every biometals since magnus know about damage stacking and etc.
I did not know about the shadow dash in overdrive and i just pick the K area sub tank. I wish I had known that before i took it.
Can you make a video like this but with the Model X, HX, LX, and FX? I'm doing a moveset for Vent if they were in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
Honestly, my gripe with PX/P is that its only weapons are the kunai... like, I get it Phantom was mostly known for these but he was carrying a sword with him around and had several attacks in his moveset utilizing it, and if they really didn't want PX to turn into "ZX with extra steps" they could have made basic combo more limited and instead of giving us charged slash give it some technique as a result of charge (maybe for e.g. smaller and mobile version of his clone attack)
but overall I feel like all alternate Biometal forms in ZX and ZX Advent feel a bit lackluster compared to the characters they're based on and the moves they had as bosses, giving me an annoying feeling dev wanted to tunnel players into using mainly "protag" biometal for combat making it the most fun for combat and others were more so your metroidvania "unlock more areas" upgrades, well I have my ideas for how to rework all of these (and with Exception of FX/F all would be getting 2 types of attack with their weapon) but maybe would need to check what Overdrive in ZX can do to biometals as I barely used this feature also it would be the awfully long thing for a comment, tho given already my idea for a main change I'd do to PX
return of the mole dance, with a twist.
Me upon seeing the thumbnail: who the fuck calls PX bad? It has the Shadow Dash!
Me after seeing the video: See? I was right!
