Excellent video and tutorial, I just replaced my front drivers side window regulator, and rolled down the rear windows and the rear drivers side windows regulator broke with the window down, if it was stuck up I wouldn't fix it as I rarely lower the rear windows and did so to spray silicon lubricant in the window glass rubber channel.
Thank you as always.
Great video guys, well explain but who’s moaning at end of video lol lol
Thanks Esse. I was going nuts over the two types. You're the first to explain. I got the single unit type. same issue.
This was very helpful; our E39 also has rear window shades and I would definitely have had a hard time getting the door panel off without your tips.
Glad you liked our video

There are a lot of procedures missing.
Why didn’t you show us how to put it back in?
Both my rear Windows need done, have since I got it 5 years ago. Been dreading doing it... Yet I had one failed motor in my lady's 04 Malibu done in about 20 min. The sucky part for the bmw is having to take the glass OUT to replace it.
No sucky part. All went smoothly after knowing the trick of how to get the window out. 😎
you can tape the glass in up position.
you don't need to take windows out.
Thanks guys super helpful!! I'm curious about that moan as well but then again Im not lol
hahaha....
moan at 5:26 to find out what sinamen516 was talking about
I really like this video and believe it's similar to my next project, I'm about to replace a left rear window regulator for a 2009 BMW 528i. I've tried looking everywhere to see how you actually connect a new left rear window regulator to the old window regulator motor. Would you know how this is done? Any help would be awesome!
Hello,
Check out this video, removal process should be similar especialy since you have an 08 model and this regulator was removed out of 07. Hope this helps.

I have the exact same failure (rear right)... the red cap busted off. What do you do in that scenario? Do you rebuilt it since it otherwise works (if you can get a new red cap) or do you simply replace with a new or used regulator?
Hi , I have a BMW e39 523i 1996 model which came with rear manual window regulator. I converted it to electrical but could not get it working from the individual rear control switch because I could not get the right connections at the module. I could only control it from the driver side.
Please, I will greatly appreciate if you do a video on the wiring of the rear control button especially where it is connected to at the control module.
Thanks in advance
Hi please I am anxious to hear from you
Good video - well presented!
Thank you. Glad we could help

Is There any way to move the glass up and down manually?
troika101 remove the torx t30 bolt that hold it the regulator. Then it's just sliding freely
is that also the way u remove one on a 525i?
process should be similar on 5-series models from 1998-03
