Was The Poltergeist Movie Set Really Cursed?

- Poltergeist is one of the most beloved horror movies in American history. It's also rumored to be cursed. Many of its stars and cast members have met with unfortunate accidents after filming, and some have even died. While it's not the first movie in history to be followed by such rumors, the Poltergeist curse carries more weight because of its unique origins.

Here is what i like about this channel:
1- Gets straight to the point
2- No interruptions
3- No sponsorships
4- Gives you all the information quickly
5- Doesn't drag on
not sure #1's accurate. headline questions whether the set of Poltergeist was cursed, they talk about various actors having strange experiences, but not what they were...it goes into a lot of what the movie was about, I stopped listening at that point.
and plenty of sponsors
They have plenty of sponsors. You’re reaching
The original Poltergeist is the only movie that scared me as a kid that still manages to give me the creeps as an adult.
I will watch the movies again.
It is actually the one of two I can watch (with The Others). They are both so well made storywise and especially this one when it comes to characters. I only have to look away when this dude peels of his skin. But yeah I love the story and the family. What scared me to no end was the shining. I can't even watch videos about it.
I'm 46 years old and still hate clown dolls to this day 😊
Dominique Dunne case was tragic and the guy got away with murder and charged with manslaughter and getting 6 years and probably served half of that.
6?? he said only 3 years. do u know something he doesnt?
@anonymousYTviewer69 it was i read on the case in on the internet he might only served half the time, they usually do. Being remanded in custody counts towards time served.
@@wesgunton238 and u believe everything u see or read online??.
@@TeresaGosa-ul4yo it is what i read online. They usually give them six years but then only serve half of that, due to time off for good behaviour and time served is counted toward it.
Rest in peace to both Heather O’Rourke and Dominique Dunne 🙏🏻 In my opinion, Will Sampson - who played Taylor in “Poltergeist II - was such an underrated actor. Loved him in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”.
Imagine being a ghost, watching your skeleton being used as a movie prop 😳
I mean, it would depend on the film, but I certainly recognize that not all people would feel like that.
Unless they wanted to be in a movie
Would it qualify for a SAG card???
I wouldn't be surprised if some people actually wrote that into their wills, like how some donate their bodies to science, or to be put on display after that plastination thing.
That child was the victim of the worst case of abuse and was swept under the rug😡
What child are you speaking of?
Yeah what child as the child in the movie was not abused she just had problems with her health but still wanted to continue filming. So what child are u talking about and the older sister in the movie she was murdered by her boyfriend and the brother not to much I've heard
The “they used real skeleton” thing is overblown. Lots of movies did back then and nothing happened. It’s just people looking to explain something tragic vs accepted life is chaos.
That wouldn’t be the exact reason for the curse. But it definitely was. Too many coincidences are just coincidences.
Plus you have to remember the Predator only sees in thermal vision.
This movie traumatized me as a kid who was probably too young to watch this 😂
Same. I was 10 when I saw it. When I watched it later, a few years after college, I couldn't help but think how the hell I was allowed to see it back then. But as I recall, it was rated PG, and that was good enough for my parents.
@@6thwilbury2331Jaws was also PG, among many others. My little brother and I were dropped off at the theater and were traumatized for life! I still won't go into the ocean and I am 64. My parents had no clue what ADULT crap we were watching. It was a more innocent time for sure.
Same, I was about 11 when I saw it.
I don’t think it’s a curse. Life is just not fair. 😢
This is pretty much an exact copy of "The Curse of Tutankhamun". "This person was tangentially associated with the project and 80 years later... he died! O_O"
"I have a beef with South Florida. I'm sick about it. Bitter. I sent two healthy 65-year old parents to South Florida. Thirty years later - dead!" - Robert Klein
😂😂😂
Terrified me as a kid and no other movie ever even bothered me.
The ancient gods have nothing better to do than haunt a movie set and cause mischief. Ok. As far as the deaths, people unfortunately die.
You know there is way more to the otherworld than just lofty gods. Small time spirits like their fun too.
OK! I think I found this narrator's calling! Sci-Fi and Horror related videos! I actually enjoyed this one!
What about the rest of the houses…they were on top of the bodies too.
But Carol Ann was born in that house, mentioned in part 3
I thought it was because their house sat on the portal to hell or something.
I saw a story like that on Unsolved Mysteries a whole neighborhood was built atop a slave graveyard 🪦 and a lady died from digging a hole 🕳️ and the whole neighborhood tried sueing the company that sold them the properties but they lost the suit and they all moved out and it's a ghost 👻 Town of it's own
No curse. Just Steven Spielberg’s sick friends doing what Hollywood producers do to kids and a stalker who wanted to unalive Tiffany but was able to get to Dominique Dunne first.
Why would you spread lies in the comments of a video showing you to be a liar?
Dunne was killed by her boyfriend. However Heather. .😢
All I know is that the "Holy Temple' song, and the creep singing it (great actor, though) from part two has haunted me for decades.
People will claim their movie is cursed when really they just sucked at keeping their actors and crew safe, “no no, it wasn’t negligence, it was the ghosts”
True, because since the movie was about evil spirits it makes perfect sense that actual evil spirits would get pissed off that their intellectual property was being infringed upon and start whacking people....
Yes, they used real skeletons, but it's not like they sneaked into a graveyard with some shovels. They bought those skeletons from a medical supply company. Those people gave up their bodies willingly.
They gave up their bodies for research… not to be film props.
R.I.P. Heather O'Rourke.
tequilla worm scene. shivers…
These so-called curses carry about as much credibility as the King Tut's tomb curses.
I think you could find so-called "curses" on any movie, or really on any large project. The law of averages will show that some people die or get sick or have weird encounters all the time. I bet you could find so called curses infecting any movie or large undertaking, if you look closely enough.
The weirdest thing was the Token Black Guy survived.
Please use the other narrator. I don’t mean to bully, I just mean to advocate for the role.
Oh it’s cursed alright. Zelda May Rubinstein who played Tangina also said some weird stuff happened, along with Tom Skerritt and Nancy Allen (from the third film) while during production.
You believe in 👻.... 😂
@@Dave-bj3pqAre you 12, Dave?
Why? Because I don't believe in 👻. The 🍆is 12in long tho 👍🖕
Stephen spillgerg was safe and sound 😂
They didn't even mention all the crazy things about that movie.
The actor that played the shaman in the 2nd movie, was the medicine man of his tribe. After he performed the ritual cleansing, he fell suddenly I'll and was dead within months of the filming closing.
During Poltergeist III, one of the movie's main financial backers came to set to watch a daily. He sat down in a chair and never got back up. He died of a heart attack while the scene was being shot and wasn't discovered until afterwards.
Creepy. Yeah, that seems cursed.
Thanks for this! 📺
People dont just "get sick". People dont just "die."
Yes. Yes, they do.
What everyone else is thinking: “Where is Tom ______”
Yes. Yes it was
The 2015 remake was also cursed. While filming, the crew had continuous equipment and mechanical problems, which also included a power outage.
Big Bear Lake, CA is a rad town.
Great movie and thanks for sharing.
You missed that some of the footage from night skies was also used in Gremlins
Where is the original guy doing voiceovers? Havent been on this channel in months.
Uh whatever happened to timeline history of the 60s? I've been waiting and done watching repeats
I remember when THE EXORCIST came out in 1973; someone at the time said "The scariest thing about this movie is the fact that in this day and age people still believe in demonic possession." Same idea.
Not really, because these result in real things that happened to real people.
For it to be cursed one must believe in mysticism.
Attributing Dominique Dunne’s murder to some moldy “cursed movie” tale is simply asinine and offensive.
you give her *ass a nine* ?
...jeff foxworthy
The mere sight of jelly makes me nauseous. Haven't been able to eat jelly since the 80s. On a way more serious note, I had no idea that Dominique Dunne and her family were victims of such a travesty of justice. They really received none. It was more of an insult, not justice in any way, shape, or form. I, for some reason, had thought this whole time that the scumbag ex-boyfriend was convicted of murder and doing hard time, which he certainly deserved. I don't know about it being "cursed." But then again, being the skeptic and cynic that I am, I don't really believe in curses.
What happened to the other narrator?
Every movie is cursed because everyone associated with any movie eventually dies 😂
He isn't the OG narrator. But, i love SWAIM in all his endeavors.
So glad I've never watched this movie
It's real. Even the local skeletons were highly disturbed.
I mean the guy who played the main villan in the 2nd film was dying of stomach cancer and wanted to leave some money for his family. He was already dying anyway so saying the film series is cursed is utter crap. Like the omen films supposedly being cursed. Yes lightning rarely strikes twice but if you're flying in a thunderstorm then yes your plane will get struck also the creepy car accident? Probably driving down a dark country lane with little to no lighting, then swerved to miss hitting a deer or something and well you know the rest.
1:50 That is the New York Library Ghost from the film Ghostbusters (1984).
"She is the ghost of librarian Eleanor Twitty, and also the very first ghost that the Ghostbusters ever met."
(all-ghosts-in-ghostbusters-movies)
Almost 20 I see a 🏆in your future.. mommy will be very proud of her little reta** boy..😂🎉
uroarje death had NOTHING TO DO WITH a curse!!!she had a birth defect.
It was sad, I remember when Heather died...at the time, I just noticed her face more bloated, like a steroid treatment was maybe going on..sad all around. Nobody knew she was suffering like that.
I love this channel.. With love, this new narrator is fine enough, but does not live up to Weird History standards. Mind sending me a script for a video? I'd like to audition to replace this guy lol
Where’s timeline
That goes to Texas Chainsaw and Psycho I don't watch cursed movies especially this one and the Exorcist, Twilight Zone,IT, The Omen, Leprechaun, Friday the 13th, Halloween 🎃 Nightmare on Elm Street,Chucky and Carrie I would rather watch the Universal Monsters and I don't like Rosemary's Baby 🍼 either
4:40...A movie about learning to treat the dead with respect, disrespecting the dead while shooting. Yeah probably cursed.
This was a good one
Well, hell that was just sick about the skeletons and that movie scared the hell out of me
*I will never forget what they did to Heather O'Rourke. RIP*
Maybe
Thanks.
the sampson exorcism is the most interesting detail + williams incident.
another ghost story. dk why or how it got cursed
No, it was not. Because there is no such thing as curses.
Yes
richard lawson, bumped to first class bc he was recognized as a celeb....
just special treatment they get for their wealth
I tired to piss myself when I watched this. You see what I’m saying ?
Maybe 🤔
no
0:53 Steven Spielberg is one of my favorite directors, I have enjoyed his creations since I starting watching films!
He graduated college the same year I did (2002) and I went to the same university as his wife Kate Chapshaw (University of Missouri, I went there for graduate school).
I’d say Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick are both the two best film directors of the last century.
Why are y'all using this new narrator so much again, for a month or so he vanished and now he's back, we prefer the regular original narrator regularly please.
Cheaper. Prolly be ai soon.
@5:27 Okay......now I've got to listen to Carol Anne's theme, have a little cry, and be sad for the next few hours.
ruclips.net/video/HANlM1M5yhY/видео.html
No such thing.
Not our narrator video will get subpar views and reviews
Not cursed at all no such thing...
This narrator is doing a great job.
Yes he is! Although the other narrator is preferred, he has his own style and does a good job!
What the heck?? New guy cursed my TV.
Wonder if this guy has heard of the curse of the Weird History RUclips announcers?
(Shhhhh... I'm trying to scare him off)
When is this channel gonna realize this narrator ruins every video he does? The iconic voice of the true narrator is a big part of what made these videos so good
Sometimes people need a break dude.
The original narrator is honestly a little annoying. I don't mind this new guy or the lady. 👍
No one seems to complain when its the girl narrator, people need to grow up 🙄🙄🙄
THIS MOVIE REALY CURSE
6:55 I added Diary of a Teenage Hitchhiker to my June Watchlist.
Didn't watch this cause of the narrator
Quick, They're Here! Time To Call Sam & Dean Winchester!
Freaky!
I’m genuinely confused why some people dislike this specific narrator, can someone explain to me why? 😅
6:19 Reminds me of microbiology class at Southeast Community College!
Approximately 24% of all the 2024 high school graduates from my hometown are going to that community college.
The school is expanding so fast that it's enrollment went up 12% since last year!
Wrong narrator voice...
A+ video!
LOVE IT! Very spooky!
3:24 "Them Bones" by Alice In Chains (one of my favorite bands) is an awesome music video!
Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains responded to my comment underneath the music video "I Stay Away."
Speaking of them bones...I made a skeleton costume for Halloween one year that was the best, even had glow-in-the-dark bones!
2:34 There are a lot of Poltergeist-related jokes on the South Park episode "Spookyfish."
Narrator sounds like Millhouse. Thumbs down moving on
0:18 From the videos of the YT channel Our 80s Life...on The 80s Cruise there was a costume where that clown was attached to them!
It was a movie theme night on the cruise and was a reference to this film.
Please bring back the other narrator. He made these videos fun. This guy, not so much.
4:41 There is an awesome short film called The Ossuary (1970)
The film takes place in an ossuary ("any container for the burial of human bones" - Collins Dictionary).
Seriously the people who believe this BS curse exists needs to google coincidence. I mean let’s use simple logic here if there was such a curse don’t you think it would’ve also affected the poltergeist TV show that was made in the late 90s that ran for four seasons
1:22 When I go to the movie theater, I get Reese's Pieces for my candy.
The film E.T. has the box office record for most weeks at #1 (16 Weeks!)
I mean..., Dominique Dunne really wasn't in the first movie much! She leaves at the beginning and comes back at the end and screams! I once had a cab ride to a doctor's appointment in the Laurel Heights section of SF and I told the driver how much I enjoyed the area. He went on about "not wanting to live there" himself because of the history of that part of town once being graveyards before remains were transferred to Colma - like the city wouldn't have been more careful of the transfers, a la Poltergeist! Haha!
You misspelled abuse, its not spelled "curse".
1:50 I am going to watch the Ghostbusters films (one-a-day) starting on September 13th , the day of the first episode of Scooby Doo.
I am moving Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure from my May Watchlist to June Watchlist to watch as the last film of June.
I am going to watch Poltergeist as my last film in May.
The last film of the month is best monthly position for my watchlists.
Ben, do you watch a movie every day?
@@sarahkatie7497 Most days!
