I've caught shinies every day straight for 4 days straight. No sandwiches,no shiny charm.😗
I didn't know about this. A sparkling power boost for all types is something I really wanted, especially back when I first started my shiny hunting and didn't have hardly any. Just running around seeing what I could find sounded like a lot of fun. This is a tempting method because I never get herba from raids, but definitely can't expect a lot of success on average with only a level 1 boost and the difficulty of trying to focus on every type of Pokemon at once instead of only having to try to spot one or two shiny species when doing a more targeted single type hunt.
if you don't have herba mystica and your trying to hunt I still think this is the best way. bp isn't hard to get and you can even grind more bp while you have the effects. the only issue is you don't get encounter power with it
I've always hated having to use my herba on particularly stubborn mass outbreaks that just don't want to give up the shiny. I think this would be a good alternative to use when grinding mass outbreaks, especially the recent event ones with high shiny odds @@GaaraOfBenton10
0:34 I disagree on that being useless. Item drop power for all types is actually super useful for getting materials for the item printer.
I mean ya that's true. I guess I haven't reached the point yet where I have needed to go out of my way to farm items. I do enough outbreaks and stuff to where it just replenished itself
As someone with bad eye sight and shiny paranoia, I think knowing what type is more likely to be shiny is better than stopping to inspect every Deerling. And making a type’s population explode is much more consistent, especially if you’re starter hunting.
I 100% agree. I've done more testing and I like this more for outbreaks
"We ended off with 0 shinies"
As he runs past a shiny graveler
wait what?
are you talking about around 3:36?
@@GaaraOfBenton10yes
@@GaaraOfBenton10 yea
@atomicadam168 I'll have to watch it on my computer I guess. I've watched that clip like 10 times and I don't see it. just the alolan graveler
I think that the all type sparkle power is best used as a background effect to see more shinies whilst doing other things, but the classic lvl 3 encounter and sparkle sandwiches should be used for shiny hunting, considering that they have better odds, and can alter spawns for a specific shiny
I agree
For me, I used the academy shake for when I'm grinding BP or farming for material for the item printer.
small thing no pun intended but pikipek is a tough shiny to find because the main difference is the red is more maroon color and eyes are green and they are absolutely micro compared to most pokemon, they're a tricky one to watch for so make sure you go after it when you see them
ya it's crazy how some shinies don't look any diffrent until you see them then your like "oh that looks super noticable" I wss kinda like that with scorbunny. I'm scared how many I probably missed or if I really didn't get any spawns
@@GaaraOfBenton10 oh man I don't even wanna think about how many I've gone past, there's a lot I've spotted by just coincidence. but yeah pikipek is a hard one to hunt but once you find it I think shiny toucannon is very much worth it
^^This was me with Joltik. Took me DAYS of sandwich hunting, to the point where I'm sure I had to have missed some along the way. They're JUST SO SMALL
@@3Captivated I can't even tell the difference with joltik
I found a shiny Pipipek completely by accident the other day. Back-striked it for a BBQ, and when the battle started, it played the sparkle animation. Gave me the same vibe finding random shinnies in the old days did
Item drop power is great now that the Item Printer exists
Academy Shake + Chansey Mass Outbreak = good chunk of materials to spend
true but if your just hunting outbreaks normally or doing the bb quests you are probably getting enough items
Just make a Normal lv 1 sandwich next to the Fairy base.
I don’t grind Herba, so this could be useful. Did have some luck with “full odds” (okay, shiny charm odds) including a shiny Minior (which are impossible to spot) but this should help increase those odds a lot
I'm kinda envious of that shiny minior. I tried hunting it but haven't had luck so far
@@GaaraOfBenton10 ran into it by chance looking for a Mudkip, was actually trying to avoid it 😅
I've spent all day shiny hunting a Minior outbreak with Sparkling Rock level 3 with no luck. I had to change my System Date/Time to give me more time but I'm taking a break.
The strat I found 100% guarantees Sparkling Lv. 3, Title Lv.3, and Encounter Lv.3. Just add Tomato, Onion, Green Pepper, and a Hamburger. Then use this for the types: Normal = 2 Tofu, Fire = 2 Red Pepper, Water = 2 Cucumber, Electric = 2 Yellow Pepper, Grass = 2 Lettuce, Ice = 2 Klawf Stick, Fighting = 2 Pickles, Poison = 2 Green Pepper, Ground = 2 Ham, Flying = 2 Prosciutto, Psychic = 2 Onion, Bug = 2 Cherry Tomato, Rock = 2 Bacon, Ghost = 2 Red Onion, Dragon = 2 Avocado, Dark = 2 Smoked Fillet, Steel = 2 Hamburger, and Fairy = 2 Tomato. Then, add 2 servings of SPICY HERBA MYSTICA ONLY. Have fun hunting!
you can use a cucumber, pickle then 3 of any ingredient you listed then 2 of any herba mystica as well
@@GaaraOfBenton10 thats the problem, some herba combos dont work, like sugar and bitter give item drop
One if each bell pepper and then 2 servings of the type ingredients
@@CarrotStopper_382 that also works!
Always been using that
Tyrogue could be found in sword and shield as you enter the wild area to the right at the cliff
thanks. I kinda thought that but couldn't remember
3:33 I can’t be the only person that noticed the fact that you missed a shiny alolan graveler in the canyon biome, right?
after staring at it for a long time I really don't think it is
@theactualfaq you aren't, in fact, I think I was the first person to notice
I’ve been using encounter two no sparkling for about 70% of my living shiny dex, this will be a game changer for someone like me who can’t farm herba easily
tbh everyone can farm herba easily if you use one of those bot streams people do but I get that. this really helps if your not trying to isolate something.
If you're just casually hunting a variety of pokemon the 150 BP meal is the way to go. If you want a specific pokemon then the Herba Mystica Level 3 sandwhiches are completely worthwhile BECAUSE they filter out spawns of other types, as long as your target pokemon is actually a regular spawn in that area (They nerfed the encounter power so it doesn't do much of anything if you get an outbreak in an area that can't normally spawn your target pokemon). The odds aren't really that different if you already have the shiny charm and almost negligible if you're hunting an outbreak and kill 30 or 60 pokemon first but focusing on a single type with the encounter power can make the difference between seeing 1 shiny in 30 minutes or seeing 3 or more.
agreed
Why did you keep calling the meal a sandwich
lol great question. the honest answer is I didn't realize that till I was like 3 hours into editing and I didn't want to redo everything
Honestly though the main character of ScaVi is so sandwich-brained they’d probably make that mistake in canon
Sandwich is ingrained into SV players’ minds 😂
If you think about the fact that ice is weak to fire, it does make sense for them to show up in the cold biome. They would be top dogs there, and their fire typing would keep them warm.
true but in the original series charmander almost lost it flame cause of rain so maybe they can't always be cold?
@@GaaraOfBenton10rain equals water not ice
You definitely need to check out the rice drop method for level 3 sandwiches, you do need the correct herba for the encounter power but it's so much quicker and easier that it's worth it, and if you're hunting a mass outbreak then it can be any 2 herba as the encounter power doesn't matter.
I have the video explaining that on my "watch later" list. the time doesn't really bother me to make a sandwhich cause I have a macro saved on my controller that makes the sandwhich for me but it is a good method
@@GaaraOfBenton10 haha fair enough, I don't have a macro-capable controller so that didn't even enter my brain lol
@@arcticus4758 it was the best $60 investment I've ever done. even for things that are as simple as date skipping or releasing pokemon after hatching 100 eggs.
I like to do outbreaks that are in an area that spawns my target pokemon so the encounter power does still help because if you wander out of the outbreak zone you're not wasting your time, you just have slightly lower odds with whatever spawns. In fact I've caught at least 9 or 10 shinies that were actually not part of the outbreak I was hunting but just natural spawns in the surrounding area.
the Alolan graveler at 3:33 looks pretty shiny but that might just be the lighting.
Yeah just lighting, shiny alolan graveler is orange
100% the lighting I think
I feel like that Academy Special since it has the egg power lvl 1 in it too is so you can increase your odds of HATCHING a shiny versus finding one.
sparkle power only affects wild spawns though?
Oh is that so? well I guess that theory was trash then lol @@GaaraOfBenton10
@@TommyDanger5 atleast that's what Google tells me
I dont play SV as much as SWSH but im finding ALOT of shineys just willy nilly (i got a blue trapinch 2 days ago) i jave like 10 herba from the table cloths quest becauae i dont like the raida in this gen so having a BP option is great for a returning player because i dont have to grind raids then hunt i can grind a bunch of BP for the gambling machine and juat by a meal.
the gambling machine is so much better then I expected. I'm currently editing a video about it now. I see where you are coming from
I haven't used a sparkle power 1 sandwich yet as I still haven't maxed out all coaches and I want to prioritise the finite events before diving into the food and item printer. Once I've finished all that I'll probably use the level 1 sandwich when hunting in outbreaks while saving my HM for more specific hunts.
tbh I forgot the coaches existed haha
For outbreaks i will definitely be using only the academy menu its really good and it feels like after the 60 kills im getting my shinies as fast as with the lvl 3 power but imo the most effective way to shiny hunt in this game still is the isolated encounter method and for that you need a 1 type sparkling power sandwich
thank you for being the only person I know that thinks isolated hunting is the most effective way. I see everyone doing outbreaks and I'm like those take hours
What is that method can u give a link bro
@matthewbrown8614 "isolated encounter" Is what the normal sparkle power 3 encounter power 3 sandwhiches. the isolated part comes from you go to places where only that specific pokemon spawns for that type. for example if you make a fire sandwhich in the mountains you isolate chimchar and scorbunny
@@GaaraOfBenton10 yeah seems that still a lot of people dont really know about this method despite it being so good. At the end both outbreaks and isolated encounter method is pretty effective tbf
@vidigonzales7164 tbh since I responded to this I've been thinking how I can make an interesting video about this that doesn't just remake something someone else has already done
The way I've approached them is lv 3 for specific hunt and lv1 for bp quests just for funsies or I'm too lazy to make the lv3
ya that makes alot of sense
I don't get why your sandwiches aren't just one ingredient of the type and then any two herbs. Gets level 3 every time and saves ingredients and time. Example for dragon, 1 avocado, then any two herba. Gets all three at level 3.
really? I've never heard that. I'll have to try that
@@GaaraOfBenton10 I can also send the link to the sandwich calculator that helped me learn as well.
@@flynnhtt that would be awesome
@@GaaraOfBenton10 huh, I've tried posting the link twice now in two comments, but the comments keeps on vanishing, it's the first result when you google "Pokemon Sandwich calculator" it's a small github project. Not sure why my comments with the links arent staying put tho. It's the one with Birbzone in the link.
@@GaaraOfBenton10 I really prefer the rice drop method. There's a video on here, but you basically take one rice, add specific condiments and herbas, and you can make a lvl 3 shiny, title, and (pick your power here) sandwich, without having to put a single thing on the sandwich. You drop the rice on the ground, and the bread, and everything else is just on there. I have a lot of different herbas so it's been the easiest method. No putting ANY ingredients on sandwiches for me!
Love how he ran past a shiny Alolan Graveler as part of the level 1 shiny power but even after editing reported 0 shinies. You can clearly see it in the video
I'm still confident that wasn't a shiny but want to know a crazy thing? that was just a random clip of me running around. it wasn't even intentional
I swear all the shinies that spawn in the canyon biome for me are usually geodude I got like 4 of them 2 of them was when I was hunting scizors with encounter level 3 for bug types and they still ended up being shiny geodudes
that's rough
I get plenty of shinies by resetting the date and outbreak hunting individual 'mons I want, I hardly if ever use herba mystica (unless the shiny is subtle like Tandemaus or Minior) and I have more shinies than non in my living dex at this point in the game. If they were gonna do something like this, it should have been in the main Paldea map, possibly for a hard to find non-usable item in exchange. Feels a bit late now imo
ya I think it is a bit late but also the games didn't really feel complete to me until the dlcs finished. idk how you can enjoy outbreaks but I respect it haha
@@GaaraOfBenton10 it's reminiscent of horde battling to me from the days of X/Y and ORAS. There's just something about seeing the shiny pop up amongst a sea of normal 'mons that itches my brain just right 😁
Totally agree that the DLCs "finished" a lot of what should have been added in the main game tho
3:00 agreed it’s definitely the least favorite biome of mine to the variety sucks until you buy the starter upgrade, also the elite 4 member of the biome is my least favorite for being too stern, and also the terrain is annoying to navigate for how little Pokémon variety the biome has.
100%
I found for the event outbreaks with boosted shiny odds, the special is better (I found 2 litwicks with only 1 special) but for regular adventuring and outbreaks, the sandwich works the best. But of course, it's also just a game of chance
it depends how many resources you have. level 1 will always be worse then level 3 of you have unlimited resources
I wonder if the areas have higher shiny odds..
I found a shiny exeggcute and rhyhorn pretty early on there, with no power active. I do have the charm though.
nope it's just random. I had some terrible luck in this video
There was a shiny Gravler at 3:33 😮
I reject your reality because if I believe hard enough then it wouldn't of been shiny haha

Oh the Coastal Biome I find a shiny Tentacruel in Pokémon Violet version.
that's awesome! I've been hunting for one all day
@GaaraOfBenton10 Yeah their rare to find in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet version.
But, can we eat that sandwich then go back to Paldea and Kitakami?
They may be getting easier to find, but finding good ones with great IVs is still the ultimate challenge.
unless you need a 0 in an iv stat it doesn't really matter cause u can just bottle cap to max iv
Off-topic but how does your game run so smoothly
I have no idea. I get some lag in the savanna biome and parts of kitikami but that's about it
3:34 I can’t tell if this a joke but that’s a shiny alolan gravaler 😭😅

@dorkenspache8353 well it only talked like 5-10 minutes to get 150bp and if you already have everything unlocked it might be worth
@@GaaraOfBenton10 Idk, for me the BP is better spent right now on the upgrades to the academy since I only have the terarium upgrades and lock on upgrades unlocked, plus the increase from 1/1365 to 1/1024 isn't really enough especially when it doesn't have the same type specificity that the herba mystical sandwiches have

well.... a couple things. not having the shiny charm is a HUGE part of your issue. why not trade with someone who has scarlet to get what you need? and just cause you didn't get it in 5 attempts doesn't mean you won't. I think in this video I sent like 7 of the attempts without a shiny and I do have the shiny charm
This isn't a new shiny hunting method, it's still just sparkling power and running around.

Personally, I've been using the Academy Special only for the last stages of an outbreak, especially for the starters/harder to catch pokemon. The catching power helps a lot if you're trying to use apri-balls for them, and the sparkling power speeds up finding them.
I'm glad you commented this. it didn't even cross my kind that people use apri balls to catch things cause I pretty much only use quick balls and repeat balls
as someone who doesn't grind Herba at all lvl 1 shine is really useful
that would make it very useful
In my opinion, you should only really use the All sparkling lvl 1 for when you do union circles or BBQ grinds, and not to hunt something specific. lvl 3 sparkling will always be the way for specific targets.
ya pretty much
I think this is definitely useful if youre not hunting a particular mon and just wanna mess around for a bit :)

Your luck seemed normal until you went six level three sandwiches without a shiny, that was just horrendous luck

I used a sparkling power level 3 for fire type Pokémon and didn’t get a single shiny ( I hunted for litten or tepig)
I've been having such bad luck with litten and tepig. the only one who has been easy for me go get was mudkip
i absolutely hate grinding for herba so this is amazing for me, havn't used herba sandwiches since and still getting plenty of shinies!
that's awesome! ya this is perfect for that
As someone who likes to hunt without any specific type boosts and will often walk to each quest location to get shiny chances as I walk, finding out about this in the DLC (I've only just recently bought them and only started Teal mask so far) I'm going straight to Indigo disk to get this meal power right now lmao
It has also worked out pretty good for me when I’m mass outbreak hunting. Maybe I’m lucky but I usually get at least one outbreak shiny in the 30 min window. Sometimes it takes 2-3 meals on bad days
ya it's pretty great. I think it's perfect for outbreak hunts
You need to learn the Rice Drop method for making sandwitches.
I don't really NEED to lol. I've seen videos about it I'm just so ingrained on doing it this way it's almost easier then learning another say
@@GaaraOfBenton10 Fair play.
@@zoa1-99.......
I find this a much harder method of getting shinies, because it's easy to get 2 or more herba mystica from 5* raids, whereas BP means doing at least 10 tasks just for the cafe dinner. I'd rather save those glorious points for the item printer and all those gorgeous rare pokeballs.
makes sense
Tbf the shiners are easier in a way but because they spawn in the overworld, you see so many per sandwich compared to maybe 10 or 20 per minute in sw/sh with random encounters
ya exactly. it's so much better to hunt in these games
Eh, I'd still go with the special Shiny sandwich most of the time, especially if you're looking for a specific Pokemon to be shiny.

I highly recommend using the sparkling lvl 1 in outbreaks. It boosts 25% the charm so the odds in an outbreak are 1/615 so its a good way to hunt with outbreaks
agreed
Does the academy special dish effect your odds outside the Terrarium too?
I believe so
The only use I really see for the SP1 meal is outbreak hunting. The odds are already so good that it's almost a waste to spend HM's on it, so a very cheap alternative to boost the shiny odds just a bit more is really nice.
that's fair. I didn't think about how small of a boost the sparkle power gives from outbreak hunting. I try and avoid outbreaks cause they are so boring haha. thanks for pointing that out
@@GaaraOfBenton10 Oh I totally agree with what you’re saying. Isolated spawns are million times better, heck, if I wasn’t hunting a specific species I’d just run around with sparkling power on like you did in the video haha

Also with that useless dish you don't have encounter power
right, the dish isn't useless though. if your generically looking for shinies and don't care or you'd outbreak hunting it's pretty good. I might have to make a followup to this video since I've used it more
@@GaaraOfBenton10 you have less chances to encounter a shiny and you aren't able to force the spawn of a specific Pokémon; it's way less efficient than the right metod.
Maybe you could use It if you are travelling and collecting items cause you could find a random shiny...but if you are seriously hunting something it's horrible.
Also with encounter+sparking you could find a shiny and then travel to another spot to force the spawn of a different Pokémon of the same type (for example i find iron hands, riolu, hawlucha and medicham with the same sandwich without outbreaks).
@lordemonet6081 right, I'm not saying it's better I'm saying it has its uses. the fact it doesn't require herba mystica is good because some people won't grind for it. but also the shiny chance doesn't decrease by that much between sparkle power 1 and sparkle power 3

there's a new shiny hunt method?! ok screw sandwhiches, they hate me anyway >:l time to do the new method
well the new method is still a sandwhich kinda and has slightly worse odds but you don't need to grind herba mystica which is really helpful
@@GaaraOfBenton10 I forgot how to even get herba mysticas XD
but yeah I see what you mean by it having worse odds,or maybe my terrible shiny luck is back ;-;
@eeveefennecfox you get them from 5 and 6 star raids and they are super annoying to get unless you do the bot raids that some people stream on youtune
@@GaaraOfBenton10 yeah they are very annoying, probably the reason why I don't do them and eh....I rather not do bot raids,I consider bots as cheating and if I'm going to do it right I rather do it the legit way,I do really appericate that suggestion though even though I'm not willing to go down that route
I'll likely keep using the level 3s unless I don't have any herba mystica or something.
ya that's my thought. go for the best odds you can
@@GaaraOfBenton10 Definitely. Like it's great to have an option at least. Maybe someday they'll let us make a level 3 sammich like that too or have one that costs BP. I'd be cool with it even if expensive.
3:34 is that not a shiny graveler or am i blind? cause thats definetly shiny
I'm fairly confident that it's not
@@GaaraOfBenton10 that is a shiny alolan graveler. Regular Alolan Graveler is gray.
@wenhui8978 that one is grey as well though? the shiny looks like bright orange
YAY phione
woot
Does this work outside of blueberry academy.
that's a great question. I assume so. I'll check when I'm near my switch
Yes
@@GaaraOfBenton10I've been using this for mass outbreak hunting and it really helps.
I can't follow the video with the constant halting in your speech. I've got a pretty bad stutter myself so I can definitely empathize with you there, but it definitely makes it harder to follow.
thanks for the honest feedback! I tried to fix most of it in editing but I'm not that good at it yet. I'll try and make it better for next time
@@GaaraOfBenton10 I hope that you’re able to! Honestly that’s the main reason I don’t upload all that often myself, getting the right take is insanely time consuming.
@ShursGarden ya it's hard. my problem is my breathing. it would be alot better if I knew how to have my mic not pick up everything I take a breathe
@@GaaraOfBenton10 If you’re using Audacity, you can have a bit of dead air at the start, and use that to get a sample of what the audio should cut out over the entire recording.
@ShursGarden I record straight through obs. I might try audacity though since it was basically a voice over
I am a 55 year old biker and trucker father, and probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 15 now. My son got this game for from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 12 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching RUclips. So i decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he let me borrow his controller. Me and my son then played in turns and I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my son many happy memories.
Last time i checked pokemon isnt a steam game. This is most likely just the copypasta but a few of the numbers have been changed.
that's super wholesome!
@bulba shhhhhhh don't ruin the copy pasta moment lol
Steam????
Is this a bot comment?
The way I have been using these is just always having one on for the constant boost. Then using my sandwiches to hunt specific pokemon
that makes sense
Yesterday I caught three shiny Delibirds i think it’s because of that outbreak for the holidays they are doing
those outbreaks do have a boosted shiny rate
This is either an off brand shinycharm or an off brand sandwhich depending on if you have the charm or not.
not exactly. shiny charm brings it down to 1/1365. sparkle power 1 brings it to 1/2048 but it's close
Ive used the academy food several times and have never encountered a shiny. Herb sandwiches always give me at least one
I've been having 0 luck at all haha
Oh dude, those indigo disk foods!
they are pretty op
I seriously considered the 150bp because my picnic table was bugged. Table went under ground I couldn't place sandwiches. I fixed itself. Think new ultra ball machine caused glitch
interesting. I haven't Messed with the ultra ball machine yet
No, that’s not it. I had that glitch before the DLC, the solution is just to close and open the game again.
No idea why you think the item printer correlates to that. Also I’ve had an invisible picnic table issue before Indigo disk so it doesn’t really add up
Outbreaks are still the most reliable (with Cyndaquil being the biggest pain -- I recommend Legends Arceus for him). Sometimes I'll save, kill 60, then, if no shiny appears while culling the herd, sandwich time. Other times, such as the recent Delibird event, I'll get 2 shinies before I've killed 30. Snivy was thus far the biggest time sink, taking 4 reloads until finding 1 with sandwich boost. With small pokemon, I'll save, and immediately make the sandwich before killing 60. Tandemaus is a good example for those situations. Small, high population near Pokemon League building, but almost identical color pattern. Sandwich boost, then keep killing until your 'Mon shakes its head.
see I think outbreaks are only good if you can't isolate encounter the pokemon with sandwhiches. of course I hate picnic resets so that's part of it. I haven't hunted cyndiquil yet but I've only used outbreaks to get a Rowlett
@@GaaraOfBenton10 Just my biased opinion, but outbreaks never fail for me. Might take a reset or two, but it pays off.
@@dankind80 based on odds of finding a shiny they are better. I just get sooooo bored
@@GaaraOfBenton10 Being bored is half the battle.
Homie, is that a shiny solosis at 5:06 or am I tripping 😭
ummmmmmm let me go review it.
I'm like 60% sure that's a seel
"We ended off with zero shinies"
Literally on screen at the same time of this quote: S H I N Y G R A V E L E R
I'm like 75% sure it's just a lighting issue on the alolan graveler
@@GaaraOfBenton10probably a lighting issue but it looks very close to it's shiny color
@@Mariofan10EX ya it's close but the shiny is way more orange
@@GaaraOfBenton10 I compared my game with your video, and im almost 100% certain that graveler was shiny
There was probably a lighting issue combined with its shiny colors that made it look brown instead of orange
@@Mariofan10EX hmmmmmm I guess we will never know haha
Yep, a sandwich...
sandwich, meal same thing right? I didn't realize until i was editing that I kept calling It a sandwich
@@GaaraOfBenton10 People nitpicking for no reason 😂😂😂
@lechonk1122 hey their comments still boost the video for the algorithm so I'm not complaining!
