Guys we need to get realistic. I can see that how frustrated you are feeling about the extended timeline of AMCA. But to be honest projects like these take a considerable amount of time and require a lot of patience.
Looking at the F22 programme, the design was finalised in late 1980s for the YF22, then it was brought down to F22. The F22s were inducted in 2005 in USAF. Meanwhile you may counter about china mass producing its J20s. On paper it might be a 5th gen fighter but it lacks many capabilities and most importantly skilled pilots who have no combat experience. Even though we are late, we should take some time and consider the quality over quantity. Let the forces decide what is right for them. After all they have been defending us since 1947.
If you remove the 36 Rafales from our fleet, forget China, even PAF will give IAF tough time. Our fleet of antiques don't stand a chance against modern air crafts from China & Pakistan.

We should buy F35. This is not going to affect Tejas Mark 2 or AMCA. Tejas Mark 2 will be inducted in 2050 the 100th birth anniversary of Shri Modiji and AMCA will be inducted in 2150 the 200th birth anniversary of Shri Modiji. Till then Atmanirbhar Bharat program will be in full swing with Tejas Mark 1A to Tejas Mark 1Z @ 4 to 5 aircrafts per year. 👍

You are wrong, Alpha Defence. India is not buying the F-35 because it requires a password. Every time you fly it, you need to ask for a password from the USA. Secondly, the F-35 or any other US fighter doesn't come with open code to modify and upgrade, whereas Russian planes come with open code. Even the Rafale came with open code.

Mrfa is dead project instead of concentrating on mrfa we must buy 3 or 4 squardons of rafale and 6 to 8 squardons of tejas mk2 depending upon trails and concentrate more on amca fighter jets 300 to 350 and start a development of sixth generation fighter jet for the replacement of 4th generation fighter jet after 2050 or 2060.
A small number of these would at least give us the qualitative stealth edge vs China for the next 1.5 decades until AMCA comes online. As it stands we're 250 airframes behind them and aren't set to induct AMCA until the mid 2030s, and they'll be testing 6th gen by the time we're inducting 5th. The F35 would be a nice jump ahead and peace of mind.

It is not entirely dependent on india to purchase f35 USA will not agree to it as most of the indian defence equipment is russian. Even turkey NATO member who uses mostly western wepon and f16 were not given f35. And for pakistan till 2040 or beyond i don't think they can afford any missadventure with india.
@@ayushraj627 im sure a deal can be carved out as usa can get radar data on chinease slealth jets deployed on border, its just that our IAF only gets digging a well when they're dying of thirst. its an age old habbit of IAF to be unprepared and underequiped. we can manage pakistan in such an underequiped stage but if something stirs up on china border IAF will get its ass handed over but i bet they still wont be serious about aquisitions.

@@CatOfCulture J16 is nearly at the same level as MKI, and that's their most advanced plane. The J20 had a huge corruption scandal, it was even locked on to by our own MKI. Anything not out of Shenyang is automatically garbage. And J31/J35 fighters are not even in production yet. They are 10 years ahead of us, give or take, but that's not a lot of distance to cover.

AMCA roll out is expected after 4 and a half year of CCS approval i.e somewhere around 2028. With five prototypes, it will take another 4 years for all required certification and expected to join IAF by 2032-33 if all things go well. I had came across several articles saying AMCA will be a 5.5 gen fighter, blah..blah..blah. Better to not expect too much from it, induct it asap and focus on AMCA mk2 for technological edge.
Once the MK2 is out, they can run the production numbers higher till the AMCA is ready.
MK2 and TEDBF are pretty good combo.

we will get F-35 only iff US wants us to acquire it. take the case of Stryker. although we have produced TATA Kestrel which is as good as Stryker, if not better, but still we are going to acquire it only because US pressure and insistance on acquiring it. in case of F-35 it's future is still bright so USA doesn't want it to sell us. the day it's demand goes down & futuristic prospects bleak , US will force it through throat to us.

Hypothetically nahi kharidega if offered at a good price tau entire defence planners should be forcefully given the boot as they do not deserve anything less than that.
Fifth generation ka aircraft like F-35 should be in IAF inventory and a few squadrons will only do good for IAF as it will keep Xing Ping Pong Pooh guessing as to what and where the Indians attack could come from if he tries any more childish stunts in Galwan etc.

2035 is my optimistic date. PSU and timelines shouldn't be talked about in the same sentence.

Seeing how poorly these American companies treat the us military (with the disgusting pricing for the most basic of basic parts) it's better for us to go the indigenous way and as for private players keep them at an arms length and give them tons of competition as that is the only way to even start to have a reasonable price.
