Welcome! That is very kind of you to say, we really enjoy being together and give the encouragement some people need to help their dolls. Happy you enjoyed it.🥰
So sweet! ❤️ Love the rock-a-bye eyes. I learned a lot from this video! I have a doll with coarse short hair American character Toodles. I also have an Ideal doll. I think Sara Ann that needs her head put back on. Also, I love the way you fixed the no elasticity elastic problem. I think I saw rock-a-bye eyes as a child but forgot about them. I think there actually were composition tiny tears? Thank you for your informative channel. Your dolls turn out lovely. Tried the hot water method, and it doesn't always work. I have used a steam iron, and it worked pretty well.
It always means a lot to us to know that some of the information helped others. tiny tears never came in a composition version. First rubber then vinyl bodies With hard plastic heads. We have a couple of Sara Ann’s. They have Saran hair that’s how they got their name. The iron worked wonders on their hair. The hot water is a-bit risky too. some one got it on a dolls face and the face was ruined. We are so happy that you enjoy the channel. You and others like you are the only reason we do it. Thank you for you kind support.❤️🥰
I remembered that in the late 1930s a doll was made with composition head ,arms and legs with a cloth body that cried and wet. I remember thinking that was stupid you shouldn’t ever get water on a composition doll. But it wasn’t a tiny tears which came about much later . There was a law suit that lasted years about who founded the technology first. The founder lost the suit. Such a shame but it happens all the time.
wow thank you ( from Alberta ) so nice to here from you! you are so very welcome ! it’s such a pleasure to be able to share them with you. Also to share are love of these little sweethearts that need someone to care.🥰❤️😘
Thank you. when I saw it I just couldn’t resist. I have an extremely good memory of where things came from but I can’t remember where I got this blanket. it’s number only so many were made so it might have been bought many years ago on QVC.🥰
Thank you so much, I am so glad she had the rock a bye eyes as it wasn’t as difficult to fix her eyes. I am so pleased with how her hair turned out, the more I use the curing iron to repair the hair the more I learn about it. Her hair is now quite soft. I don’t remember that commercial but I would love to see it.🥰
I’m sorry I had replied now it says I didn’t oh well! I will try again thanks you for all your continuous support. the rockabye eyes were a surprise to me too. Her hair was a challenge but I’m so happy that she came out so nice. we were not going to keep her but Chantae changed her mind so she’s here forever now. We are so Blessed!❤️🥰🌺😘😉
Hello, I love watching what you do, and all the care and attention you give to every one of the dolls you restore. I'm learning so much! I never had dolls when I was young, but started collecting vintage Barbies in my 30s after finding one at Goodwill. I cleaned and rerooted her - and she means so much to me. That was just the beginning! I'm (turning) 53 in a few weeks and these dolls always give me such good memories, thinking of my aunts, and what life was like back then. Such happy memories! My search and rescue endeavors for forgotten Barbies led me in so many various doll type directions and many hours of delicate restorations. Only recently did I discover the "vintage baby doll". 😮 I can't help but imagine my mother and aunts as little girls playing with dolls just like this. I live so far from them now and miss them terribly, so this hobby is sort of a connection to them. Just today, I acquired a discarded and 8 fingered Tiny Tears, and I look forward to seeing her come to life! These dolls have truly brought a long lost smile back to my face and I'm grateful for what you share on your channel ❤
Hi ! Thank you so much for your support And comments. I usually respond to comments sooner but we were unable do to family responsibilities. wow! I’m 20.5 years older than you! you have many years to enjoy your new found joy in restoring these precious little from our past. I didn’t have any doll’s just a handful. But my best friend of 61years only got one in her whole childhood and not long after receiving her their house burned down with her doll. she never got another till about the age you are now. I do know my mother had a Shirley Temple doll when she was about Six but it never made it to me. but a badly damaged one did and I restored her and now I have one. I love restoring dolls it’s very challenging and a creative outlet. The seem to come back to life just as you said. we are both so happy that you enjoy the videos. It because of people like you that we do them.❤️🥰😉
@@DIYDollArtist Thank you for replying with such a thoughtful comment. It means a lot to meet friendly people, especially those who share some of the same interests! I'm sorry that your friend lost her doll in a fire, that sounds just terrible overall. I hope that she had lots of help to rebuild her home. I have successfully dismembered my Tiny Tears (she looks absolutely TERRIFIED!) and I'm in the process of cleaning her inside, her tube and squeaker, and need to figure out how to get her eyes to close completely without breaking the mechanism. She's always just pretending to be asleep, and watching me! 🤣 I will be watching and rewatching your videos to help me through this process (and others!). Thank you again and have a fabulous weekend!
Yes she came out really well, I never know exactly how they will come out but sometimes it is special. I love all my tiny tears dolls, 2 were gifts from Chantae to replace my doll from childhood so they are extra special.🥰
Tiny Tears is so adorable. Again, you guys did such a great job! I'm watching from Sydney, Australia! Thanks so much for sharing all your wonderful tips and tricks. Mostly, thanks for saving these sweet little dolls from a terrible fate. Cheers!
first of all the both of us want to thank you so much for your continuous support and kindness. 52 years ago was when I just wanted to save these little sweethearts and show them a little kindness by helping them. we never dreamed that all of this was in our future. we not only get to help an unwanted doll be wanted again but we get to help others to do the same thing. we are very Blessed people. I hope all is well for you and yours in Sydney. It’s such a treat to hear from you.❤️🥰🌺😘
SO adorable!! Great job with everything! And using the little curling iron turned out great. And yes, those older tiny tears bodies that crumble break my heart. Glad later bodies are holding up. Great video! 💕
Thank you for your kind comments! not everyone agrees with the iron. iI just think the don’t understand that using the iron is repairing the damaged if used carefully. We are very great full for your support. we really need it!🥰😉❤️🌺
@@DIYDollArtist it's great to see how the even dolls in bad shape can be restored, but also you show how to do it .. I never thought my dolls from when I was a little girl, could be restored - especially the hair ! You've got me ready to buy some supplies and try ! Plus there's so many sad dollys in thrift stores, that I could try to restore and find new homes for
your description of her dress sounds like it was absolutely beautiful. how lucky you were to have it. I had a tiny tears but only the dress she came in. thanks for sharing I appreciate you.🥰
yes it was as far as we can tell no signs cutting or interfering of any kind.I’m happy you liked her . when I first saw her I had know idea she could come out so cute.❤️😉
Yes, she is probably a doll with molded hair. They molded hair that was painted, Saran and Caracul which is a lamb skin that has tiny curls. Each type of hair gave the dolls a different look, but I think they were all lovely.🥰
I didn't realize she was a Tiny Tears until you showed her marking is American Character. The one I have is missing some of her eyelashes and I don't know how to repair that. She needs lips touched up. She has the Saran hair. I was about to send her to the Thrift Store until I saw this. Your doll turned out beautiful. I am not that talented. She needs hair treatment like you did.
Is the doll you are speaking of a special doll to you? Is this a doll you want to repair and keep. If so if you want to try to do it yourself and you need help we are there to help. If you feel you are not able but you want to keep her I’m offering to repair her for you if she is that special to you at no expense to you.
