Really appreciate the effort, Fedor. Your insight is invaluable. Just found an A5M deal from a 3rd party vendor for $278.07 total. I'd also like to add that I've been a viewer since your channel's early days with the Voxelab videos, and your channel & content has certainly grown to be of my favorite. Thank you for everything.

Full klipper/fluidd access would make this one of the best printers out there right now. It would allow for things like KAMP and also adjust the loud fan even more. For now i just replaced it with a 120mm slim PC fan and finally it's silent.

I just ordered one. I got a basic ender 3 a couple of weeks ago and have been shocked at how painful it was to assemble and use. Sd card slot died and it likes to stop extruding halfway through prints. I have high hopes for this new printer. I was really looking for ease of use and printing and not tinkering. I think this will be very nice.

Dude I am so hyped to receive this printer from Amazon for $299+ tax ($320 or something) as of 1/29/24. There are so many features I am excited about! I bought an Ender 3 pro about 8 months ago that is currently MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THIS PRINTER. And I got less than half the features of this printer. From the moment I had to build everything on the Ender out the box to all the clogging and wiring you outlined, oh and the manual leveling I do every few prints. All those things are so annoying tasks that this printer looks to eliminate. Oh and the drag, drop, print I am so looking forward to. Tired of moving the 2GB microSD back and forth from the PC to printer. Drag and print baby, love it! 2 more days. I wonder how much quicker it will be? I need to mass produce products so depending on how this printer does, I may snag more

Agree 100% that not releasing their klipper changes etc is not ok, and they need to correct that. That flies in the face of the open source reason it exists, and not what we want these companies defaulting to. Making a good base HW is not enough if the SW is effectively locked and 'stolen.' MY first 3DP was from their sister company the Voxelab Aquila (assisted by your may early vids.) :) having now added a couple vorons, and I've purchase spools of Flashforge filament. Which I won't be doing any more until they correctly release their changes etc.

Update: I received the printer and LOVE IT! Night and day from the POS Ender 3 Pro, I already listed in for sale thats how much i dislike that printer. The default speed was 300mm, I was shocked how fast it was printing. It was more accurate than the Ender 3 and much faster - unfortunately I am not sure how to relay the speed per material used but printing the same gcode, the Ender took 4 hours and the 5M took only 34 minutes!. The end product was clean AF!
I have a few questions about the printer:
    1) Where do I find the idle fan settings? I did not see it on the on screen display
    2) Can I use PLA with .6mm and .8mm nozzles? I looked at the Forge website and it seemed that they did not suggest using the regular PLA. Thoughts?
    3) My external camera does not seem to work when the job is running. I have the latest firmware installed. Seems like each time I turn on the camera and video, it turns off again in the settings. Anything you can suggest?

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  6 месяцев назад +1

      Awesome. Glad you like it.
      1. Not sure what you mean. I believe those are all firmware controlled.
      2. You should be able to, but you would have to slow down quite a bit at those diameters and make sure you have your profiles set accordingly to the nozzles. Others, should be good. although not on this machine, I print PLA with .6 all the time.
      3. I’ve never tried to run it with a camera. However, it sounds like there is a ton of stuff going on firmware wise with them. So after the Chinese new year is over, we will be getting a new update for sure. I’ll have more insight after that.

Hello, I am writing to you to tell you that I have had the 5M for 1 week now and I am rather happy with it, fast and precise as you described in your video and I thank you for that, I also want to ask you if you had little clicking sounds at the level of the tray (towards the bottom) which in my case clicks as soon as I put the tray up to temperature and also when it cools down (even with the machine turned off it cracks a few times), certainly an expansion of something, after this doubt a little message to the after-sales service, photos and video to support, they returned me this: "There is no risk in this situation. If there is no printing problem, could you continue to use it? Then you can be more careful. If you have any further questions, please let us know and we will do our best to help you." So ok, given the feedback the problem is not major, but it is not normal either in my opinion, that is why I am coming to you to ask you if this little problem which is just auditory and which don't rush on the prints you arrive

I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them honestly. They are in a different league now. The only note is the Reborn2 is probably the only one that I would say “needs work”. And what I mean by that is that it would be a 2x if not 3x better with some modifications. So if you like to tinker, that’s the one. It’s fully open sourced. Even the cad files. The others, not so much. The 5M being closed source entirely yet probably best printing out of the bunch. I don’t have experience with Elegoo but I hear great things about the 4 series. And the Ender 3v3 SE is an amazing budget machine as long as you don’t want enclosed coreXY. :)

This is a pass for me I'm a 20 year contributer to multiple open software projects and just because of that I can't give them my money! If you're going to profit from it at the very least you should keep it open and contribute to it. Closing it and profiting from it is stealing others efforts.

I agree with this statement. It must be mentioned that they have heard the complaints and have posted their source code on GitHub. which technically makes it opensource now. they didn’t give us root access or even full access, but the code, technically, is now available. They have also made a bunch of little firmware updates that make the machine better. like fans turning off when they aren’t needed and the display having a sleep move. So that is something worth thinking about.

@@3DPrintSOS Cool, that's a step in the right direction. IMO if they still use the base code of somebody else they should be contributing to the upstream repo (I'd admit I don't know if they do..)
Thanks for the review I'm new (roughly a year) in the 3D printing world and it was your channel that made me buy my first printer! ✌️ So kudos to you for keeping it real! And honest..

Being "open source with klipper" yet completely locked down seems like such a Flashforge thing to do unfortunately. hate how they do this.

Yep, they did the same with a few Voxelab machines. Hoping this video helps change their mind.

I think the deliberate software license violation by Flashforge is enough to say NO to this printer. Sadly these chinese companies do not seem to care about honoring open source licenses. They seem to have no problems stealing form the open source community though!
