Happy freaking Monday!
Happy freaking Monday to you too, Jake!
iamjake paint it with Steel it spray paint that stuff is the best
iamjake steel it is the only spray paint that works great on frame Baja trucks use it as well it’s the only Weldable paint No Need to grind the paint
Happy freaking Monday... Good job get her done...
Happy Monday back at you. When you started this rebuild it got me off my ass and getting my 1987 jeep out of the garage from a 2 year sleep. It's running and 1/2 of replacing the driver floor pan is done ,now I just have to weld in the new one.
I’ve been trying to message you for the last couple of days! Cummins is running a special on the R2.8 turbo diesel. $1,500 off using the code dirthead from Fred on Dirt Everyday. In the long run the motor will last longer & saving you money on fuel. Since you are so deep in changing Jade a Cummins swap would be something you should really think about!
I went with an OM617... Love it!
"First time attempting welding tig!"
*Holds up mig*
And cover your skin. That flash burn smells terrible
Is nobody gonna mention Jake said its his first time tig welding when he is clearly mig welding?
:)
So?
About more frequent updates! Would love to see a weekly update even if you didn’t make any progress on Jade and a quick update is better than having your subscribers wonder what happened or worse unsubscribe. Be safe and wear the proper equipment i.e. gloves when welding. Jade is going to be one mean machine!
Are these the same guys that built you the trailer hitch that fell apart? I hope not!
No that was the people who had the original Willy’s Wheeler Jeep with the 50 caliber machine gun mounted in the front seat. These are the guys that did the bed modification for him and the last girl he was with.
thats mig welding bruh not tig
Jake you should really upgrade your gas tank so you can go longer distances.
Hows that sunburn on your left hand? Nice first welds, BUT wear gloves, not cancer!
Neil Shubert was gonna say
@@rewardboy1 Right? I've been welding for over 20 years its good to share the knowledge!
The hard part is over. Rest should go smooth... I would have gone with Ford 8.8 rear axle but d44 is going to do what you need. Thx for the update!
I hear that a 8.8 would be ideal disc brakes and everything but that d44 will do what you need
Jake I hate to break it to you... but yj and cj Dana 30s are completely different. You can’t swap the hubs on them, and you can’t swap a cj Dana 30 in a yj without converting to a passenger side drop tcase. Before you dive too deep into your new axle you might want to rethink and see if that axle will be a practical swap.
Yea that sounds about right the outter Cs would be similar for LJ/XJ/TJ/MJ/ZJ, but the CJ was a different C which accepts only the CJ knuckles. I think Reid Racing made a Chevy/CJ knuckle that bolts onto the "newer" style D30. That or the Yukon spin-free kit is the only way to run hubs on a LJ/XJ/TJ/MJ/ZJ style D30. CJ was driver side drop and all Jeeps after have been Drivers side. He would benefit from a HP30 at minimum
Jersey Devil all yjs had HP d30 from the factory so he already has a HP in it now. They do make a manual hub conversion for about $1500 that I think uses ranger hubs...(don’t trust me on the ranger part) but it wouldn’t be wise to spend $1500 on hubs when you can sell the d30 for a couple hundred and then spend $1500 on an axle that’s bigger and already has the manual hubs like a set of f250 axles.
@@trevordavis4728 I'm much more a XJ/TJ guy myself. I'd say a D30 isn't worth investing a dollar into more than gears and maybe a lunchbox locker.
Starting to worry you gave up. Hop you keep up with the videos
I was hoping he did actually.... He's a freeloading bum!!!
Respect for you and for what you’re doing, but please do not leave us for another month without a vid
Respect, you've got no clue what real Respect is?
When you work hard and make your own money rather then freeloading off others for mods and financial help, only then do you truly earn RESPECT! 👎
Get a job dude!
@@thespearodiver I do not share your point of view towards respect, we should all respect everybody as long as what they are doing do not harm somebody.
He creates videos and for that he ask donations or contributions, it is the same for actors or performers, plus he sells T shirts and other products to get more revenue, so he does make his own money.
Dean Richie I think your point of view is valid but nowadays there are many ways to make a living not only the traditional jobs, you are free to not contribute to Jake monetary but by seeing this video, money is getting to his pocket.
I am open to keep debating this
@@enriquegm
I stand on my initial comment and I know others would agree.
Heck yea, spatter burns and "sun burn" cause of no gloves for the win lol and coming along nicely bo, it's gunna be sick!
Thank God! A new vid! I've been jonesing for a IamJake fix!
What the freaking update! Great update. The suspense is killing me, can’t wait to see jade finally finished and back in her element.
Happy Friggun Monday indeed!! It was 67 degrees in Wisconsin today Jake!! Guys, great work!! Luv that Manitowoc sign in the garage!! My home Town baby! Keep'er Movin......😁🖐️👍
Guess we are only getting videos once a month now........
It is better than nothing!
the greatest cost in building things yourself, is accumulating the thousands of dollars in tools to do it properly and efficiently. Welders, torches, saws, compressors, grinders, stands, measuring gear cost and require a place to store them and use them.... the shop is a tool... the lighting is a tool.... in the grand scheme of things, labor is cheap.
Super excited to see what Jade will look like, love watching these man! I can always tell you put a lot of work into these videos! Super cool content! Just some encouragement man!
Thank you for what you do. I really enjoy your videos. Take your time and enjoy and learn.
Looking amazing cant wait to see it finished
You matched the welding to the beat?! That was AWESOME!! Cool :)
Why are you not wearing welder's gloves when welding?
Great to hear from ya!!!....looking good guys!!!
If the jeep rides well with the add a leaf springs I would keep them, soft springs with air bags get bouncy quick.
Been waiting for a new video! Goodtimes!!
Leaf springs???
Why not switch to a beefed up coil? Way better on and off road ride.
Granted, you do carry a lot though.
Be a great upgrade to the front for sure but having so much weight in the back leaf springs are probably a good idea at least for the back and that airbag set up should help out alot Jades going to be way better I can't wait to see her finished
Running a coil you'd need to link the rear which adds complexity. Leafs work great for these loads plus the air helpers. It's basically a mini truck. I'd say good call on the leafs over coil.
A month? For a 10 minute update video witch should have only taken you tops 2 weeks...... Come on jake.....
Looking good Jade! The new frame looks super solid, good work fellas.
Jake, thank you for wearing eye protection! 🤪
You have no idea how good it is to see you upload
Watch out for flash burn. No fun at all. You can get it just walking by someone who's welding.
Glad your still ok!!!
Yeah your right but I have been welding since I was like 8 and never got it
I got it twice. Once by being careless and once walking by a guy. Eyes get puffy and scratchy. It's a bit scary not knowing if my eyes would fully recover. 👀
Always love the content.... No hurries No worries !!! Cheers 🍻
Making a kick 'A' Jeep even More kick 'A'? 🤔....ummm..? Is there anything wrong with that? Answer: No!👍
Glad to see jade is coming along well. Really excited for you this is gonna help so much!
The sense of entitlement of some people on the comments on this video is too much. Admire your patience Jake.
Remember that time someone worked on Jade and the welding failed. And then someone else did it and it failed again...
FINALLY AN UPDATE VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is just like watching the A Team! Will it have machine guns?? Keep up the good work.
Nice build. With 35" tires, you should consider replacing that front Dana 30 though. A stronger front axle for a YJ can get tricky though. It's either a lot of fab work, or a lot of money. Now is really the time to do it though. The 30 will not live long with 35s when you get off road. I know, I've been there. I wish I could say "see you at EJS", but I won't be there this year. Next year for sure. Keep up the good work!
You can just put a Super 30 kit on it has beefier axles and parts then reinforce the tubes. I ran 35s with that setup with a Detroit Locker and a tie rod reverse kit 3/4 quarter ton for 3 years never had a problem
I'm with that same sentiment. A Waggy 44 or any 44 front would be a great addition for not only gears but supporting that weight. If you're going through the trouble of swapping in a rear 44 why not compliment it with a front. Plus kicking out the WMS a few inches would help with stability.
Good stuff as always Jake, God Bless!
I have been SO freaking excited for this video!!!!!!!!
2:42 that was not that bad that's about usually where people start off welding for the first time I've seen a heck of alot worse
You’re such an inspiration your dedication and perseverance is amazing. Keep it up!
Happy that you posted, keep up the good work and take your time, there is no need to rush through this. I am glad you allow us to be able to join you on your journey.
thank you for the update! this is an awesome project! cant wait for more!
For a first timer, very good welds. What model welder is it? I'll assume it's 220.
those guys are Mad Scientists!!
I was just wondering when you were going to be posting an update! Very cool. Watching this build very closely.
Those frame fish plates (calling them gussets in this video) should taper down., keeping them strait with a flat edge creates a stress riser at the welds and it is more likely to crack at the weld.
gwagenadventure Yes. But this will hold together just fine, don't you think?
@@kevinhornbuckle Time will tell the square edges of the fish plates will be very prone to cracking as the chassis flexes given that this jeep will be loaded down and see lots of time offroad. The general rule of thumb for fish plates is that the length should be 2X the frame height at a 20-30deg angle. They should look like this < > not like this [ ] for this particular video. < >,gives more weld length and also distributes the load vs the abrupt edge [ ] creates. They should also be made out of material similar in thickness to the chassis they are reinforcing.
Great build guys!
Woohoo!!
Epic !!
Engine upgrades would help with the added weight and an extra boost of power. You should put some disc brakes since they are easier to work on and easy to get parts for.
Been waiting for another video buddy , can’t wait to see the final product 👍👍
Looks like the same progress from a month ago.
Was wondering how it was going! Good to see ya active again
Thank You I have been waiting!!! For your videos!! Perfect job
Just watched that part of the video again and another question came up. If your YJ has a stock six cylinder engine, the lowest gears you can have is 3.73, not 4.10. 4.10 was only available with the 4 cylinder engine. Unless you or a previous owner swapped axles or engine.
4.10 swaps are semi-common. Ive heard of a few people swapping in the 4.10 from the 4-bangers into their 4.0s for "cheap bolt in deeper gearing"
wouldn't that be Mig and not Tig?
yeah caught myself out loud saying mig lol he should be doing joined up spirals not just straight line itll get alot stronger weld
Yep
check out SB Fishing’s 50 state road trip... he’s killing it
Owen Jansen thanks for the heads up. Always nice to check out hungry content creators
Nice first weld's !! You guys are the best !! Thank you for sharing !! Thanks for the update !! Its coming along nicely !! Love the frame work !! And the heavy duty frame plates !! Peace out !! Cheers !! Take care !!
Thanks for the update! Now that was a awesome Monday surprise.. lookin good.
Damn, she's looking good! Can't wait to see the final outcome! Those guys really know their stuff when it comes to custom work, welding, etc...!!
wow great progress jake an sweet editing!
Even short, more frequent updates would be great. Having Jade withdrawals stinks.
Measure 12 cut 20 that's my mantra, haven't come up short so far in 6 vehicles. Gussets so jade is girdle wearing old lady with high quality plastic surgery, damn your lucky to have a Jeep I'd Like to Four wheel aka JILF.
Fascinating g-project I saw an old aluminum frame for a Jeep in monroeton Pennsylvania they're doing several years ago it was a matter fact I think the whole body everything was aluminum in it but my question is did you get a chance to put a bigger gas tank in that your unit what did you just use the standard capacity could have been an opportunity to Kris the range which might be nice if you're in the in the boonies
You can't do a video without showing Annie
I swear that guy looks just like Steven Avery and is from Wisconsin
Before you put that axle in jade remove the shims from the leafs.
Agreed! Wish I had thought about doing that when I put my axle in...
Thank you Jake for posting a video we were all looking forward to one it's been a while since you posted any pictures or updates we are just so anxious to see what the Jeep looks like and for you to get back on your adventures. Hope you guys I having a blast putting it back together again looks like it's coming out awesome can't wait good luck.
Great to see you back dude but where is that beautiful, smiley Kenzie? Miss seeing her too. Does she have an older sister? heehee
Finally! We have been waiting for an update on Jade.
Wow last time I watched one of your videos you were fixing up a trailer for the jeep... now the whole damn thing is cut in half. Haha Love it man! Really entertaining stuff.
Where's the girl ?
This whole video was about her (jade)
She's in the kitchen, making sandwiches for these men.
So the new axles won't work as planned, that's obvious. I'm wondering if the simplest solution would be to get the same model transfer case that was in the donor Jeep and mate that to Jade's AX15?
Where's your ladies at it's not a real video without the whole crew in it Anne the girlfriend her puppy it's not a real video without them lol great half video lol Jake can't wait till it's finished
Jake, the new concept of Jade is awesome, I'm also thinking of going up to a Dana 44 and gearing as well for my Jeep Yj. Thanks for the content you provide and be an inspiration for me to start my channel as well, here is a link to my introduction video
ruclips.net/video/oMkMM2I94vU/видео.html
Looking forward to seeing the build. Take your time and do it right. Cheers from Denver Colorado!
Good progress Buddy 👍
Looking good.
Please tell me you're putting in a bigger fuel tank, or maybe a second fuel tank.
Was getting a bit worried but this update was good. Keep it up.
Jake, you should use POR15 on that new frame. 4 wheel parts has them by the quart or you can get a gallon online. That will save your frame from rust. you can also put it on the under side of your floor pans and tranny tunnel. You can also coat all of your suspension and it will protect from rust. Finally you should spray the inside of the new frame with a wax coating before you put the body on. POR15 is made for frames and under coating. It dries rock hard. No paint can touch it. Look it up. Next this will protect the inside of your frame: www.amazon.com/KBS-Coatings-75101-Cavity-Fluid_Ounces/dp/B00TVH7R5O/ref=pd_rhf_ee_s_rp_0_7/145-9681107-0127464?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00TVH7R5O&pd_rd_r=179bb1da-d2ff-4fb4-a1ec-606da094ba2f&pd_rd_w=jAUCh&pd_rd_wg=JVPEu&pf_rd_p=9ce2a148-6af9-48d3-9a5d-657a16ef4457&pf_rd_r=7Z9V74699AABNNGS9FAT&psc=1&refRID=7Z9V74699AABNNGS9FAT
I am building a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. I used the Por15 and on top POR15 Rubber spray to reduce outside noise. I put both under the outer tub, frame, gas tank and axles. The wax stuff is as close to what factory uses. This waxy coating will prevent rust from the inside of your frame. I put stiffeners over my frame and ensured I had drain holes. So the wax protects where water can enter and rust out the inside of the frame. I suggest putting a coat inside every few years just to make sure and that can will go a long way. The POR15 lasts for years. Any left over I didn't use, i put in a mason jar. You can also put cellophane over the por15's Can and put the lid back on but I found the mason jar works great. Good luck hope we can meet some day. I live in So Cal and my first jeep build, 3.5 years in the making, is almost done.
This is awsome!! I’m so glad your going this route! Cant wait to se her done! Keep up the Good work!!!
It's not just about the build brother, it's about the journey that we are on with you. Hell even midnight munchies or Anner's birthday videos are better than nothing and being left hanging.
Lol mig not tig
All i thought while watching this video was I SAWED THIS BOAT IN HALF
Why are they welding termination of gusset plates? On truck frames we always ended with a curve and extended weld past gusset? Tailed out the weld.
Looking great!! Can't wait to see Jade back on the road. Hope to catch up with you at EJS this year!
Awesome to see you back with a progress report dude. How are the rest of the crew, human and canine ??
Hi, awesome video, I have to tell you, @3:00 you need to use Weller Gloves!, and where is the finished project?
Jade is looking good, I can't wait to see it all finished!!! :)
Jade is becoming a Skoolie !
some leather gloves would help get closer and maybe help you steady up some more
It’s been awhile
Hah thought it was funny when you said Nguyen it’s pronounced like “when” lol good deal though!
HELL YEAH BROTHER. I've been so pumped for this episode
That was MIG, keep with the practice.
