If there are high surface finish requirements when press brake/edge bending, the Swedish product Tribotextil™ can be applied in the pressing/bending tool and mechanically protect the sheet metal from scratches and other damages. Tribotextil™ is an extremely thin and very strong textile that in this process replaces lubricants in the tool.

Mixed feelings about the tools, some of them are amazing but other bends can be recreated with common press tools and doesn't need specialized tools. But still, it is a great video to show the possibility of the tools

cool shapes... but im trying to wrap my head around where tooling like this would fit in a production process. i could see maybe forming special shaped flat springs etc. But cant think of much else. Any production engineers or designers out there care the elaborate on the application for this tooling?
alot of those bends would require re positioning of the piece (or die changes) , it really depends on how many pieces you are going to run. specialized dies like this are incredibly expensive.
Machines like this (but usually much bigger) are used any time something is made from stamped sheet metal.
Handguards for exhaust systems, metal roofing, car body panels, laptop shells or PC towers, heavy duty park benches, stair treads, anything.

What's the point of 3:50 ? you can make the same part with any radius tool, and in 4:20, why is the top tool made out of 2 pieces, It looks like you could get the same fold if it was in 1 piece.
I'm assuming most of this tooling is designed for major production.... pure pedal pushing and repeatability.
@@griffinphilemon5083 I get that, but that single fold is just basic break press operation, it doesnt speed up anything, I'm just trying to understand what would be the benefit of doing it that way...
