"Do you like Neptunia games but don't really like Neptunia" That had me cracking up! Great video as always and as always, you're covering a game I haven't played but now have to pick up! Thanks! 😁
I totally love this game! I approached it almost with no knowledge about IF/CH previous games, I was expecting some cheap garbage (paid about $5 USD during some sale on PS Store) and I fell in love with this game. Yes, it is very simplistic in production. Outside of dungeons, everything is presented as menus where you choose what to do. But you know what? I love it because I've started to hate all those annoyingly huge open-world games where you're constantly running some kind of Olympic marathon (I'm looking at you Xenoblade Chronicles 🙂) . It is true that you visit dungeons repeatedly but I didn't care because they were short, all enemies were visible and I could easily go around them if I wanted. I visited dungeons repeatedly on purpose just to grind XPs and to level up. The game is designed around it -- you should "modify" dungeons to give more XP/loot. The combat system is fun and very fast, to the point that it even resembles some kind of action game -- you build your combos and assign them to the characters. And while mentioning the characters, I love them all! I love a mix of comedy and drama they provide. By the way, you didn't mention in your review how Fang (the main protagonist) changes his attitude during the story -- from an airheaded simpleton into someone who honestly and deeply cares about the world and people he loves. And not only him, other characters went through the similar transformation as well (for example, Ethel is such an adorable girl!). Did I mention that the game (more precisely its story) also contains a time travel? It has interesting and surprising story twists. The game has various endings according to your actions. Sure, it is not AAA game. It's IF/CH game which was made on budget. It is not any "legendary groundbreaking genre-defining game". However, for a few bucks it provides tremendous amount of fun. P.S.: Also, EN dub is great! And the music too!
Too bad the new game that came out isn't an actual sequel based off a "specific ending" from one of the routes in this game. Was really dissapointed in that.
Thank you for LIKING, COMMENTING, and, SUBSCRIBING!
What game should I tackle next?
I'd love to see your take on something in the Atelier series! 😁
