I think that's why I like them so much too. I was never into 'hunting shows' or the sort before. Now I watch the shows, listen to podcasts, buy stuff off the website and have even read one of their books. Some of my favorite moments from the TV show was Steve talking about his dying father just wanting to go for a long drive or them making an old Leopold biscuit and gravy recipe out in the woods over a campfire.
Rinella is this generation’s Kerouac, Steinbeck, Fitzgerald and Leopold rolled into one! He truly has his own style, but we are lucky to have someone like Rinella who uses words like a paintbrush! Flowing them into a work of art! It’s incredible. His books are amazing, but i think his true art form is in the spoken Narrator breaks in all his shows, this one included!
Ole John knocked that boat off the trailer to add some excitement and motivate him like he said.....sometimes our misfortunes lead to positive outcomes!
Dos Boat slaying trout in my home state of Michigan for at least 2 episodes back to back! I mean - does it get any better?! Steven Rinella sure knows how to produce true fishing and conservation entertainment.
I'm just starting out fishing at 35 yrs of age, so getting some lessons from Steve is absolutely perfect. He conveys pretty detailed knowledge and experience without making you feel inferior in any way. Plus, an Outdoor Canada subscription always helps. Thanks for this series tho, it's TREMENDOUS!
People who dislike Lake trout usually improperly handled and cleaned the fish after boating it. This dislike is a reflection of the angler not the fish. Great videos l have been waiting for season 2 , thank you for your hard work in making them. All the best from Canada.
I love watching das boat also i am a big fan of the older starcraft boats im still fishing out of my grandfather 14 1982 starcraft and the fish just love that boat. Every time I'm out I swear that grandpa is there with me
Awesome show. I fished with Captain Grant yesterday and had the best charter day ever. Captain Grant is a true professional. He knows how to give his clients the best time and he can put you on the fish. Clean boat and great equipment for you to catch the biggest fish you have ever caught. We had 4 guys and we all caught are limits. Such a great day fishing with captain grant on that "big fancy boat.
As a kid from from small town in Michigan that fished lake Michigan and has family in south haven I can say that I love that y'all inspire others and new generation to get out and enjoy nature
I grew up on the other side of beautiful Michigan and have since moved far away, but the fantastic memories of the bountiful hunting, fishing and well other stuff will always be a huge part of my heart. As cliche as it sounds you can leave the Great Lakes but they will never leave your soul.
I cant help but think that Mr. Gary would be nothing but beaming with pride that not only his old boat but the values that he helped instill in all of those neighborhood kids are still alive and well and being passed down to an untold number of people in the next generation thanks to the reach of your influence Mr. Rinella. Keep up the respectable work Sir.
Can't wait for meateater season 9, I never really hunted before in my life, discovering the meateater show got me interested in hunting and now I cant get enough of it. Less then a month till the start of the season over here in VA.
I’ve been fishing lake trout for 40+ years. Whenever people ask me if I still fish, the next question is if I have any smoked fish available. Looking at the video of the charter Captain’s smoked fish, it’s perfect. Smoked lake trout is perfection and makes taking this fish for food worthwhile and appreciated.
Glad Das Boat is back for season #2. Hopefully it will have more seasons to come. Really enjoyed the 1st season. Kind of like 39hrs. to me. I want to see each every year
"I dunno, a fishin' boat" All you need to know. Steve could stand in a ditch and hook an Elk on a barbless fly. The man is a legend and embodies the entire spirit of the hunter/gatherer...plus his cookbooks are among the best i ever owned. Thank you Mr. Rinella
Wow just when i thought you should drive legally you literally rolled the boat off the trailer. Great videos from you guys. I love every second. Being literally the only person in my family that hunts and fishes I truly enjoy watching and taking notes.
These series are awesome. I too wish they where way longer. Up here in BC Canada where the roads are steep, winding and rough a transom strap over the whole back end of the boat is the way to go nothing worst, than maybe I forgot the cooler, than dumping your boat on the way to the spot!
Hahahahaha, Dude I grew up on Mona lake and now I look at the Muskegon river when the leaves are off. I have fished off many sizes and styles of boats. The one I still have is a 17 foot aluminum with a 50 horse tiller. bought new in 2000. I have fished all over the state. My buddy and I won the walleye tournament trail one year. still got the plaques for first place and biggest fish. Started binge watching meat eater and now the fishing part. Love all of it. GREAT piece of video and journalism , i'm hooked. Thanks.......Rob.
Just made my day here in still-locked-down Melbourne, Australia. Thanks, Steve and the rest of the MeatEater crew. Hanging out for the new season on Netflix tomorrow too!
A great start to Season #2. I dig that Dos Boat is tied to Steve's childhood in MI. The Meateater crew does a great job of mixing hunting/fishing content, insight/opinion, and educational content. Well done.
I wasn't trout fishing but i got me a few walleye an perch out of there yesterday. I've been lucky enough to travel to Florida and back Michigan still my favorite ...fishing ...hunting... its just amazing
Steve, you are killing me loved what you did the first season and the way this one started out with rolling the boat had me in on the ground keep being you it's great
Steve you write so well and come up with novel ideas. Das boat is a great one. I dont know if I have seen every one of your vids but i still keep seeking them. Your defense of hunting EPIC.
Thank you so much gentleman! Loved seeing that skip on the road, you are human after all. I got so intwined with thoughts of my 3rd boat it was unreal how many things I thought of. Simple things like lift the trailer fender before going off cause you damn well know you stepped on it the day before to get your tackle bag! When you're 19 and got a boat you think you got everything hahaaha
Man I love this! I've got an old 16' alumacraft that I was working on for a while. It's been sitting next to my house neglected for the past few months. Time to get back to it!
I find it funny that season 1 made me inspired to get my boat running and go fishing for the same thing you guys go fishing for in Michigan in season 2. Hopefully by the end of this year I'll be able to smack some Mack just like you boys did.
This is the coolest thing I’ve found on RUclips. I do the same stuff with my 1979 14ft mirrocraft deep fisherman, all the way from catching lakers and splake in Lake Superior to using it as a drift boat down the Pere Marquette. I love those little 14ft deep Vs and just how versatile they are.
RUclips recommended this. Watched it, became a subscriber, and watched all of season 1 in one sitting...at work hahaha. Can't wait for the next episode!!!
I have a lot of family in Michigan, all living on or near different lakes. That image of a town on the water, with people boating around to visit neighbors like something out of Venice was one I was accustomed to. Now, years later, with much of that family passed away or moved elsewhere, I miss those trips.
Love this series! I have fished out of south haven for years. I can't begin to imagine how many pounds of fish I have cleaned at that station! Awesome job. Bring das boat to St Joe for some winter steelhead!
So incredibly excited for the new season of Das Boat. Season 1 was phenomenal and its quickly becoming my new favorite Meat Eater Series. Looking forward to Back 40 soon as well though! Steve and his team are incredible.
Cool to see you guys in my neck of the woods and waters (Grand Haven). Michigan has some pretty amazing outdoors to explore. Can't wait to see what you guys are up to near Boyne on the next one!
Classic! A good friend of mine often says, there is nothing more permanent than a temporary fix.....I was reminded of this when the boat was chucked of the trainer
Michigan born and raised. My Grandfather used to have his horse pull his spearing shanty out on to lake Michigan to spear Lakers and whitefish over the shoals off of Emmet county. Talking 1920's, 30's, 40's. Waugoshance Point, Gray's Reef, White shoal. Love Meateater and love the new boat series.
Thank you so much for an excellent show and thank you for being such a good man isk if you're religous or not but I pray for you and thank God good people like you exist in the world
I'm a twin lake local got to see you come back to Reeths puffer on a book tour you did in 2013 its a joy watching you knowing your from my back yard keep up the good work.
Steve I am not the kind of guy who carry a likens to celedraty people ..however I value how you present the goodness of outdoor living with good memory's people and hombulness.. u also cherish them as I .. hens I truely enough what up do and say to the world
my charter boat was out of south haven before I moved down here to florida and built my own das boat. still have my parent and a lot of good friends fishing out of south haven cool to see yall putting in work on the little boat!
Loved season 1, excited to see more of season 2! I fish out of a '73 steury with an old '71 7.5 merc. It's not new, it's not pretty but it works. Love that you keep the educational portion up and make it fun!
This is probably the most over-produced show about a cheap boat and I’m totally here for it.
Same here man baba
free content
I like how Das Boat (and MeatEater) values conservation. Their content is not only entertaining, but also educational.
I think that's why I like them so much too. I was never into 'hunting shows' or the sort before. add a touch of Bourdain as well
Agree. He is a great image for the modern hunting culture.
... He's great and all but no. Just, no.
I'm just getting into fishing/hunting and appreciate folks like Steve because if it was just Nugent and the alike no thanks...
One thing I absolutely respect about Steve is that he isn't afraid to share his mistakes with the viewing audience.
Old John Gary must of rolled over in his grave when he saw that boat flipping off the trailer
I about rolled over in my grave for pete's sake!
Cameron’s Clams haha 🤙
Cameron’s Clams it looked like it just took the paint off when they zoomed in on it.
Ole John knocked that boat off the trailer to add some excitement and motivate him like he said.....sometimes our misfortunes lead to positive outcomes!
Craig Bielsky exactly. Just another story and battle scars.
Finally a fishing show where they actually keep the fish.
Check out Opaleye and Deer Meat For Dinner.
Right? I’m really stoked that people are getting into the catch&cooks. Not many people can afford to go catch good food and let it go
Catch and release is important though, I think to both have fun and help keep a healthy population. Cant kill everything every time.
They don’t call him MEATEATER for nothing!
Steve will eat it if it's legal too....
Gotta love it!!!
Steven was just double checking that the curb was in working order.
That made me laugh out loud
“My brother REALLY does have an extra nipple, though”
I love it, glad y’all are back at it!
That was DEFINITELY necessary information
As a man with an extra nipple. I appreciate this ha
My brother had one. Got it removed and the scar looks worse than the nipple 😂
What a story. There isn't a group of people I appreciate more than old school mentors
Couldn’t be more stoked about this!
Same bro! 🙌🏼
Since when did you watch Meat Eater
About how I feel when you drop a new vid Lawson 🤘👊
So glad this is finally here. Love you guys at MeatEater!!
Dos Boat slaying trout in my home state of Michigan for at least 2 episodes back to back! I mean - does it get any better?! Steven Rinella sure knows how to produce true fishing and conservation entertainment.

Never too late. I started at 13 and at 38 I still love it
Das Boat season 2 is what RUclips needed!
DOS BOAT - little boats, big dreams!
what a freakin legend. production quality is top tier and i am still amazed they release this for free. 10 out of 10
Thank you for letting us use your boat, John. We really appreciate it.
Best hunting show ever made with the best hunter-host-naturalist ever. Waiting for Meateater season 9.
Every time I'm out I swear that grandpa is there with me
I can't believe this series doesn't get 4 time the amount of views it has. Top notch as usual. Keep up the good work.
Awesome show. I fished with Captain Grant yesterday and had the best charter day ever. Captain Grant is a true professional. He knows how to give his clients the best time and he can put you on the fish. Clean boat and great equipment for you to catch the biggest fish you have ever caught. My wife grew up in South Haven. Was was excited about this episode. All the landmarks. I just loved the fishing.
Not a huge fish guy but something about Das Boat gets me thinking I’m missing out! Great to see season 2 on the board
Youre definitely missing out!!
I grew up on the other side of beautiful Michigan and have since moved far away, but the fantastic memories of the bountiful hunting, fishing and well other stuff will always be a huge part of my heart. As cliche as it sounds you can leave the Great Lakes but they will never leave your soul.
Good for a laugh. Good for the soul. Thanks To all the Gary's and thanks to you Steven for showing old boats still catch fish
I cant help but think that Mr. Gary would be nothing but beaming with pride that not only his old boat but the values that he helped instill in all of those neighborhood kids are still alive and well and being passed down to an untold number of people in the next generation thanks to the reach of your influence Mr. Rinella. I’m a retired American sitting over here in Thailand
Enjoying so many of your video’s thanks for keeping it real and insightful on so many levels
Can't wait for meateater season 9, I never really hunted before in my life, discovering the meateater show got me interested in hunting and now I cant get enough of it. Less then a month till the start of the season over here in VA.
Me too Cole - I share the sentiment. I’m 30 now and on my third hunting season. Love it!
Congrats on getting in and keeping the tradition alive.
Meat eater got me into fishing too
My trailer broke into a couple pieces years ago. Boats make a very distinct sound when you're dragging them down pavement. 🤣
I could listen to Steve talk about fishing or hunting for hours on hours. Informative and entertaining. Can’t get any better.
I was born in 74- Spent each summer growing up on Glen Lake! (by Sleeping Bear) What an awesome revival story! 👍🏽 Love the channel. ☮️👊🏽
Kind of like 39hrs. to me. I want to see each every year
Love seeing my state highlighted for it's subdued glory. Nothing flashy here, just good old fashioned fun.
Not only your a hunter, fisherman, cook, conservationists and a historian too ❤️❤️❤️ this Steven Rinella 😇😎😀
Love it! Can’t wait until ( pure Michigan) comedy of errors. Thank you for not disappointing!
South Haven is my favorite place to visit in the summer time. Absolutely beautiful.
Excited season 2 is here! Gives me a little escape to everyday stressors. Thank you
"I dunno, a fishin' boat"
All you need to know. Steve could stand in a ditch and hook an Elk on a barbless fly.
The man is a legend and embodies the entire spirit of the hunter/gatherer...plus his cookbooks are among the best i ever owned.
Thank you Mr. Rinella

What a great series! It is such a great new way to tell stories about friends, fish, conservation, and of course the boat.
Hahahahaha, Dude I grew up on Mona lake and now I look at the Muskegon river when the leaves are off. I have fished off many sizes and styles of boats. I watched the first season of Das Boat and was great. It really takes me back to the boats and fishing I did with my Dad when I was a kid.
Just made my day here in still-locked-down Melbourne, Australia. Thanks, Steve and the rest of the MeatEater crew. Hanging out for the new season on Netflix tomorrow too!
You guys genuinely make me smile. From the wealth of history and information to the will of getting after it. Thanks for a great show 🤙🏻
A great start to Season #2. I dig that Dos Boat is tied to Steve's childhood in MI.

Well done.
I wasn't trout fishing but i got me a few walleye an perch out of there yesterday. I've been lucky enough to travel to Florida and back Michigan still my favorite ...fishing ...hunting... its just amazing
This is the most ingenious show i have every watched! Its competition...but not a competition
Loved this episode, I used to exclusively fish out of South Haven. I have cleaned many fish at that cleaning station!
This is a week from the heavens! Dos boat season 2 and meat eater season 9!!!
Many thanks for showing my home state of Michigan.
So excited for another Season of Das Boat. Very entertaining and educational.
I’m glad we saw a replay - the boat went flying cuz Steve drove over a curb. Way to go, bro.
Thank you so much gentleman! Loved seeing that skip on the road, you are human after all. I got so intwined with thoughts of my 3rd boat it was unreal how many things I thought of. by far one of my favorite series in the past few years. Great work on Das Boat. Stoked to watch each episode.
This brought back a lot of memories for me....I lived near Superior in the UP...caught a fair number of lakers. This was pure gold guys.
I've hit that curb more times than I'd like to admit 😂 awesome to watch this episode and see home!
I have a lot of family in Michigan, all living on or near different lakes. That image of a town on the water, with people boating around to visit neighbors like something out of Venice was one I was accustomed to. Now, years later, with much of that family passed away or moved elsewhere, I miss those trips.
Love the show (all the shows!). Binging Das Boat now that I have watched almost everything else.
Best series on RUclips!
So glad this is back, now the world makes sense again.
Glad your back in Michigan. State land deer hunting is calling you.
I am so glad this series is back! And what a great back story on that boat!
Cool to see you guys in my neck of the woods and waters (Grand Haven). Michigan has some pretty amazing outdoors to explore. Can't wait to see what you guys are up to near Boyne on the next one!
Quality show guys. I find myself smiling and wishing i was there the whole time watching this show.
I just got emotional when this popped up on my YT feed. Season 2!!!! YES!
Soooo glad season 2 is here! Love this show! Can’t wait for the next episode to drop!
Me and my sons love watching your videos. Keep it up. These videos makes me want to take them outdoors.
This may be my favorite Meateater production! Back 40 was good but Das Boat ALWAYS makes me want to get on the water! Keep it up, fellas!!
Classic! A good friend of mine often says, there is nothing more permanent than a temporary fix.....I was reminded of this when the boat was chucked of the trainer

Lake Michigan! In our neck of the woods! So awesome to see you are in our home waters! Keep up the cool videos!
Love this series! Midwest will be great - Lake Michigan was a great place to start. Well done.

Steve I am not the kind of guy who carry a likens to celedraty people ..however I value how you present the goodness of outdoor living with good memory's people and hombulness.. u also cherish them as I .. hens I truely enough what up do and say to the world
Lake Trout look like they'd wreck some of my lures and I like that. Great season opener!
This was filmed right in my local area. I knew rinella was from around west Michigan but this is just cool to see. Love these videos
Hell yea!! I didn't even know I could expect a season dos!
Here's to happy surprises! 🍻
Best 2 days of entertainment in awhile new episodes of das boat and meat eater the next day!
Dude! I grew up in that area too! My grandmother lived on that lake. Grew up in Muskegon. Love these videos
my charter boat was out of south haven before I moved down here to florida and built my own das boat. still have my parent and a lot of good friends fishing out of south haven cool to see yall putting in work on the little boat!
Great content! Thanks for sharing, entertaining and informative!
Loved season 1, excited to see more of season 2! I fish out of a '73 steury with an old '71 7.5 merc. It's not new, it's not pretty but it works. Love that you keep the educational portion up and make it fun!
Sweet! This is one of mine and the wife's favorite shows to watch! I was afraid after selling Uno Boat it was gonna be over. Glad to see it's back!
