Sparrow won the calypso king competition with this first tune. The competition was held at the De Luxe cinema because there was a quarrel over prize money.
prize money was always an issue in those days,for these artists ,thats is why they snub the mighty sparrow in i can't remember the year,because he was trying to get the other singers to boycott those competition,so they gave the road march song to the artist who sang the song about been lazy.but the mighty sparrow came back the folllowing year,about they are trying to make me look small,all he got is a big tune,when he gona change that tune ,this song that song same melody no veriety,well if you don't believe me you could ask anybody with the same veriety.
