Jonas's channel, where most of the clips of his Tetris streams came from: / jonasteh81
The song used is "Yours Forever" from the Tetris Effect soundtrack. The lyrics felt especially relevant. • Connected (Yours Forever)
This was the kind of video I originally wanted to make after hearing the news about Jonas, but it was too hard to start going through footage and editing until some time had passed. The scope here is limited to some of his biggest accomplishments in the world of Tetris, what the community thought about him, and what he thought about the community - but of course, this only scratches the surface of his life. The GoFundMe to benefit his family is still active and the link is in the description, if anyone would like to still make a donation.
Wait what happened to him he’s like the best Tetris player did he quit?
Buii he passed away on the 5th of January. He was and still is the OG. RIP
this just made me cry man... thanks
btw, do you know what happened to the tetris for jonas project?
I managed to not completely breakdown and cry ugly tears until this video. There’s just such a hole in the community without him.
When they buried him, the whole row of graves disappeared...
@wrn beltran I'm sure even Jonas would've laughed at that. That was pretty good.
😂😂😂😂
T E T R I S
Good one
You sunova--im laughing with tears of sadness and laughter in my eyes 🥲
Edit: Truly the last Tetris for Jonas. 😌
Jonas: "My real talent is business card throwing, I'd like to think Tetris had something to do with that."
wise words 😭
Thanks for doing this. Really beautiful tribute video. -John
Rest in awesome, Jonas
John, you introduced me to this community and I honestly can’t thank you enough. It’s tough times right now and this video is such a wonderful celebration of Jonas and what he brought to the community. LYMYMI

What a legend he was, so humble and kind. Tetris couldn't have a better public personality than Jonas.
100% Correct, absolutely amazing ambassador and kind man.
I agree and dont want to disrespect but Greentea is a good personality too

Thank you for this. I forget where I come from sometimes, and this put me back in line.
Hope you're doing well too JD. 🤎
The torch was passed on, keep kicking ass.
You're good kiddo, might even become the best of the best. These legends passed their torches to you new players

RIP Jonas. It’s still difficult to believe he’s gone but I know his legacy will live on in the Tetris community. LYMYMI
Jonas was a personal hero. One day I'll get my first maxout, and it'll all be thanks to him.
Ultimatris
That Spanish commentary for his 2016 win was such a nice touch. Viva Albacete
Jonás de Albacete, adopted son.
I always considered Jonas' greatest quality the ease and grace with which he passed the torch to the new generation.
Yeah, that's what true champions are made of. There is not a even a tiny bit of envy in him, he was always going for his best and if that wasn't enough to defeat someone he was the first one to congratulate and to acknowledge it. He IS Classic Tetris: the Michael Jordan, the Usain Bolt, the Roger Federer in one person and it hurts so much he had to go. I could've never imagined to develop such fascination for such a simple game. it's guys like Jonas who make such things happen. Not only a brillant player but an absolutely wonderful human being! RIP Jonas you'll never be forgotten!
No ego whatsoever. Just a great guy.
"I would hate to lose to anybody else" that's a lot of humility and respect right there
How far have we come since Jonas… discovering rolling, crashing the f out of Tetris,… if he was here with us, he’d be so proud of this community for what we have achieved. Amen.
I feel like Jonas is a person which you wouldn't believe exists until you see for yourself.
This.
If he had hyper tapped, I don’t think anybody would even come near his skill. It took seven years of domination before a hyper tapper was good enough to beat him. He had this intuition about the game I have yet to see in anyone else
Imagine if he’d been around for the rolling revolution taking place right now. I think Jonas could have returned to the top using that.
Someone who can roll and have jonas' consistency? Thats almost a consistent max out, at least a consistent 600k trans
Maybe Rolling is way easier for a das player to pick up than to learn how to hypertap
Ngl... witnessing in real time how he adapted with DAS during the CTWC top 16 twitch stream stays inspiring experience. Definitely worth rewatching.
He totally understood what lifes about- RIP Jonas - until we all meet again.
I can never watch this without crying. I've never missed someone so much whom I've never met.
Thank you so much Jonas, for being the games biggest ambassador and helping build the foundation on which this community has grown and expanded so much world wide.
I love how that little joke started by Ibai Llanos at 1:17 about Jonas being Jonás a Spaniard from Albacete, ended up with Jonas visiting Albacete and receiving the Key of the Town from the mayor, and a hand made penknife. (Albacete is known in Spain for their magnificent penknifes).
Also you can see at 3:21 Jonas under the Spanish flag, that'snot true he was american. But that little video of Ibai was too powerful. The press here in Spain really thought he was Spanish for a day or two and a lot of articles were made about him. I knew Jonas thanks to that video and I can't believe he passed away.
Best regards, Jonas.
Rest in peace.
Some news just hits you harder. This is one of those times. RIP Jonas. You were so kind, generous, and an absolute genius.
I've played tetris for over 30 years, i will never be anywhere near the level of these guys, but that doesnt matter. Tetris is about the game, Its the closest thing to gaming perfection i think there is, and when someone so gifted comes along the hole they leave when they pass can never be filled. Its sad when anyone dies.... Jonas has a legacy that will live on forever in those that love this game. A person never truly dies until the ripples they make fade away....i hope these ripples will last a long long time.
Perfectly captured sentiment 🖤🙏🏿🖤
He was a man so pure and kindhearted. Truly the best of what a person can become. He lives on through memories and videos like these. Thank you jonas
Man, I really developed an affinity for this man when the "boom, Tetris" videos starting floating around. He was immediately recognizable as an awesome, awesome person. Rest in Peace, brotha.
RIP Jonas. His whole way of carrying himself--humble, kind and friendly--sparked my interest in classic tetris. He'll be missed
I still can't believe he's gone man
This was 2020s last kick in the balls
...or 2021's first kick in the balls, depending on how you look at it :-|
rewatching this and damn, i wish jonas was still here to witness the development of the classic tetris scene
You can tell me the news over and over again and it'll still be hard for me to swallow the news.
I don't think any person here can describe how large Jonas' influence on the Tetris community was. He was a good man, a legend, and an inspiration to so many people in this community, myself included.
We all miss you, Jonas. Godspeed.
I'm sat here crying..
Jonas was a humble legend and me and everyone will miss him greatly.
RIP Jonas you'll be missed man
Heart wrenching. Beautiful job pulling memories of Jonas's life.
RIP Jonas. He was truly a legend!
I clicked as fast as I saw the notification. We love you Jonas!
The greatest Tetris player ever and an even greater man. Thank you for everything Jonas, still cant believe youre gone. I hope in the next life I’ll be able to fulfill my dream of meeting and playing you. Great video Scout
love how much his wife supported him what an amazing family and guy rip.
I coime back every now and again to rewatch the video. How the hell could someone dislike this video?
Thank you, David. We especially enjoyed the Spanish and Heather clips and focus on the community.. Que viva Albacete!
the music combined along with all of his CTWC clips started making me tear up.... RIP Jonas 😢
Heya Scout, this was beautiful. Thank you for putting this together.
Jonas was such a big part of my day to day life with the livestreams, the Kast movie fun times, and the discord hangouts where he'd stream roguelikes to the Discord voice chat or race with us in Hades.
He also gave the best hugs.
It still hurts knowing that he is gone and I can't watch videos like this without starting to cry again.
But I still appreciate that you did this. Thank you again.
Jonas, you will always be in my heart, and you will never be forgotten.
Love you, miss you, mean it, Brother.

I miss his streams, every tetris is for jonnas now
I feel terrible now, just taking him for granted, knowing that i said one day soon i will come back on to his stream to watch and stay... but now, i can't and probably many others. I really miss him now and regret not watching what i could while i couid, thank you aGameScout for this amazing tribute but most importantly, thank you Jonas Neubauer for having lived a life where you show us the tetris in it and being awesome.
I just teared up for a man I haven't heard of until now, he seemed like a genuinely nice guy.
Tetris is a truly amazing game but this man and his kind character always full of positivity built and drove the community which has grown up surrounding it. He was born with a goodness inside which just made others feel positive about themselves. The vast majority of people rise to the top of any sport or competition through a narcistic drive to be the best. Jonas never gave off any selfish vibes, poor sportsmanship or visions towards self gain. He was the most humble champion in both victory and defeat and a light in this community which will always shine through his example.
I noticed a comment on another post saying we should name the world championship after Jonas. I agree with this there should be an annual tournament in his name or a fair play award named after him we should make sure all future generations will forever remember Jonas Neubauer the embodiment of great sportsmanship within esports and tetris.
I can’t believe I’m just now finding out about this.. I wanna cry.. I still remember years ago watching his streams live, rewatching his tournaments.. he was my favorite Tetris player and will always be my favorite..
A Jonas tribute with the "Connected" theme from Tetris Effect... I can't handle this bro, I'm already in tears...

So, it has been a shitty year for me as it has been for probably anyone else.... But the positivity of jonas made it so much more bearable! I am not even a part of the tetris community, but his heart and love for the game ignited parts of me i did not know i had! He was a wonderful human and today is my birthday and i thought it is going to be shit! But even through that jonas's passion ignited something in my heart! He truly is a legend. Thank you for this video!
I am so sorry for his family friends , the tetris community and anyone who did'nt get to see jonas's wholesomeness! What a beatiful person!
I joined this community a couple of years ago, and Jonas was the first person I saw playing.
Boom! Tetris for Jonas
Not just a Tetris god but also one of the best human beings this world had to offer. Truly a tragedy..
While time is still very much needed for his friends family and especially Heather to heal, when people feel ready I sincerely believe a true, professionally produced documentary needs to be made, not to morn his death but celebrate his life. I know I am waiting with baited breath for the upcoming 2015 Tetris World Championship documentary to come out where I'm sure his shining example of good sportsman, passion for Tetris and compassion for the community will be on full display and inspire us all.
WE ARE ALL CONNECTED!!! TETRIS FAM! this still stings!! he was the reason I picked up tetris again after years. all love my man all love!!!
Jonas brought me - and probably a lot of all of us here - to Tetris. Watching him play, live and breathe Tetris was so unimaginably inspiring to me. The way he shaped our community and made it grow is just unbelievable. I'm always improving, one day when I'll get the max it will be for him, because it is thanks to him. Thank you for everything Jonas.
The first video I watched for classic tetris and that got me hooked was Jonas' win in 2017. It might sound cheesy for some but when I couldn't sleep at night or I needed to feel calm and happy I chose to watch CTWC videos or Jonas' it made me happy and made me forget when everything else wasn't always right. I laughed bc of him, I'm so lucky to have stubble upon this community
The GOAT is gone, he changed Tetris forever, may his achievements and humbleness be remembered.
I used to hang out in Jonas' streams and he was ALWAYS so kind and would acknowledge everyone he could. Such a genuinely nice guy, and I am so sad he's gone.
Thank you so much for making this video. I almost couldn't finish it because I started crying, but I needed the reminder of the incredible man he was. It's bittersweet, but this is so important ❤
I started playing Tetris because of Jonas. After going down the RUclips rabbit hole I found a video after he had won the TWC. It blew my mind to see him do the things he did and the amount of people that such an old game had brought in. I’ve been playing Tetris for 6 years now, mostly mobile games but I still loved it. Finally at the end of 2020 i felt the need to switch and try the NES. Jonas passed 2 days later. It might be a bit of a stretch to say I lost my drive but my goal was to get good enough to meet and play ahi again Jonas. Though it was highly unlikely, it’s tough that with Jonas gone so goes that dream. RIP Jonas.
Thank you for making this wonderful tribute - I can’t imagine how hard it must have been going through the old videos and making this. I admit this is only the second video I’ve been able to watch featuring Jonas since his passing. Seeing all his achievements in one place like this truly highlights what a genius he was, but also how much love and warmth he brought to the community just by being himself. He shone brighter and brighter over the years, regardless of his wins - a true ambassador for Tetris and a role-model for life in general. LYMYMI
Jonas was one in a million, I'm sure he was proud to be apart of one of gaming's most passionate and kind communities. Rest in peace ❤
this is the kind of video I've been looking for for weeks but it didn't seem to exist, thank you for being the one to create it. incredibly well done. Rest in peace Jonas, absolute legend.
This is the first time I’ve cried since a close family friends passing and man Jonas is just up there in heaven playing Tetris looking down on us and smiling
1:58 If there is a silver lining in this, at the very least he got to spend the last part of his life doing what he loved. Not only switching careers, but also the whole traveling to europe you mentioned in another video, and other tetris related things. Gone too soon
Never imagined crying so hard over someone I hadn't personally met :( RIP to my favorite tetris player and streamer and just all around great guy
Thanks scout, efforts like these mean a lot to the community and make it feel more connected. So many of us have jonas moments, stories etc, even if we never met him. Its so heavy and difficult to process, but proud of everyone getting through it.
Just watched the tribute three times. Thank you Scout. That was beautiful. LYMYMI. ❤️.
I don't know what to say other than rest in peace Jonas.
Holy cow. I only just now found out he had passed away. What a legend. I think he would be humbled by the outpouring of love and support. RIP Jonas. Your skill and tenacity will inspire the community forever.
i found out now because my hype to see him play again for this CTWC... (im a casual that just tune in for WC)
he was in my top 3 favorites alongside Greentea and Koryan.
A beautiful and fitting way to show the world the legacy of a true gaming icon. Genuinely brought me to tears...
Beautiful video, as always. Jonas - see you on the flip, brother.
Just discovered this man. Really sad to see he’s passed on…
I think this is beautiful.
There are more moments that deserve to be cherished, but this encapsulates a great part of the feeling that Jonas gave us all. Great vid Scout, as always
Such a beautiful tribute. Still can't believe it to this day. Thank you Scout, for putting together these wonderful memorial videos in Jonas's honor
Couldn't stop crying through this, it's scary because I'm around his age and my heart breaks for his family
Same but it wasnt scary for me.
It just made me cry😭😭😭😭😭
Thanks for making this awesome tribute! I wasn't a hardcore fan of Jonas in terms of knowing everything about his accomplishments (beyond the championships), but I always looked forward to watching him play. And every time he played, whether in tournament or his personal streams, I felt like I learned something new and felt really inspired to play any version of Tetris and get better.
It's so sad we lost this master of a Tetris player. He was a powerful, great champion with a nice heart. His death is a tragic loss to the entire Tetris community. His passing of the torch to Joseph was literal. Jonas, we miss you, and you will forever be the G.O.A.T. You are the Michael Jordan of original Tetris.
I am in tears. Thanks for this video. If there is any person that has accomplished a maxout in life, it was Jonas.
Great video, definitely one of my all time favorites on the platform, LYMYMI
Jonas was and still is the heart and soul of the Tetris community. We are so lucky to have such an awesome and humble ambassador for the game and I can’t thank him enough for all he’s done for the community, the game itself, and for me personally. Thank you so much for this video Scout. I watched this while holding back some tears. I’m sure the Final Boss of Tetris is still slamming Tetrises up in Heaven. LYMYMI

Thanks for everything Jonas!

The world championship trophy should be named after him.
It has been! It's now a J piece called the Jonas Neubauer Award
I still can’t believe he’s gone :(
I had no idea he passed this month. He is a legend in the Tetris community and the reason I got back into the game. He's truly legendary at the game and he will be missed.
I know he will continue to inspire the Tetris community.
I didn’t even know he died until this video... RIP Jonas. Boom Tetris for Jonas, hope he’s having fun playing Tetris in heaven.
I've been very quiet on this matter. Jonas and I were somewhat close at some point, we worked on a couple of projects... when I was still somewhat new, he sent me a good controller just so I could play since my current controller was butts. The reason why I'd been quiet is that I have never experienced the death of someone close to me at all in my 37 years on this planett, and I am lucky. Jonas, so far, is the closest person to me that has passed, and it is still hitting me hard. I wasn't going to cry at this video until I saw the clip in this video at 3:33 of me giving him a hug (yes that's me, red top and greenish hair).
Jonas, you are loved, you will be missed, and if there's an afterlife of some form I'm gonna give you another hug when I get there. See you on the flippity flip.
P.S. Thanks, scout, for putting this video together, even if it took me a few days to get to it.
I don't know you but I have appreciated your work to get the CTM started. Thank you for that. I am sorry for the sadness you are experiencing now, even if it is for a good reason. May you find comfort in all your happy memories of Jonas and the knowlegde that you, just like Jonas, have made a positive difference in others lives. Hang in there, you will feel better in time. I truly believe you can give Jonas a hug on the other side.
@@titopaul9299 CTM was a labor of love that outgrew my drive, but it was a labor of love. I'm glad to see people are still enjoying it. Thank you very much for the kind words, I definitely appreciate it.
Still come back to this video sometimes. It gets me, man. Incredibly well-made, just, thank you GameScout
Thanks for reinvigorating my love for Tetris. See you in Heaven one of these days. God bless all your friends and family, and may the Tetris community always be loving and supportive, and may we all be gracious winners and losers just like you taught us to be. Boom, Tetris for Jonas.
I’ve watched Jonas play Tetris for hundreds of hours, I still don’t want to believe he’s gone. I’m genuinely hurt, I hope heather gets through this. Jonas is my favorite Tetris champ
I was just a twitch viewer and a casual tetris player but I'm crying, I'm smiling. Jonas was a rare gem the Mr Rogers of Tetris, I miss him a lot and I really hope Heather is doing alright.
Such a beautiful tribute to such a beautiful guy! His memories will be forever in our hearts! Thanks for this video!
What a fantastic supercut of Jonas' accomplishments. Thank you for posting this. Without a doubt wherever he is, he is smiling watching this. :)
I am still thinking: Why Jonas? Why did he leave when he did not deserve it at all?
Life is unfair. RIP Jonas.
The best always leave first
Even though it’s sad we all have to remember the good parts and that we are all lucky that Jonas exsited
Actually, Jonas' death is incredibly scary when you think about it; it's sudden, unexplained and too soon. Imagine one day you're gaming, reading the newspaper, on your phone, etc... you get up to go fetch something, then WAM, you're dead. You weren't old, you weren't doing anything dangerous, you just die suddenly and mysteriously. Think about it. It could happen to anyone.
